About

The sophomore full-length from Clairo, Sling is an album with its own charmed atmosphere, graced with the easy warmth of a far lovelier era but wholly the outcome of her bright & restless mind. In creating the body of work, the 22-year-old co-produced alongside Jack Antonoff, recording at Allaire Studios in Upstate New York. As Clairo reveals, Sling’s lyrical element was largely informed by the adoption of her dog Joanie. “When I got Joanie, I started changing my routines & habits to healthier ones, to try to create an environment where she felt comfortable & happy, It made me realize I hadn’t been doing that for myself, & that I need to look at myself with the same respect that I’d give to someone I care about.” Several tracks feature background vocals from Lorde, “Blouse” offers a meditation on the degrading behavior of men in power. “I think a lot of people know that feeling of having to compromise a part of yourself in order to be heard, you finally get to where you’ve hoped to be for so long, & there’s just this guy looking down your shirt.” Her sophomore album, Sling provided countless moments of revelation for Clairo. While a number of guest musicians contributed to the album’s arrangements, most was handled by Clairo & Antonoff. The result is a perfect setting for Clairo’s songwriting, allowing abundant space for her nuanced exploration of mental health, unmet expectations, and the struggle to treat ourselves with gentleness and love

    Absolutely unforgettable

by Nicholas on 10/31/19Revolution Live - Ft Lauderdale

The opening acts were honestly so good they had such amazing energy . The venue had amazing views if you wanted to be down low up close or higher up in the balcony . Clairo had a beautiful voice and her bass player and drummer were so good . She did honestly every song I could remember all from her new album and some other favorites . I can only hope that she’ll come back to Florida one day I’ll for sure see her again !!! :,)

    Meh

by Give on 10/26/19House of Blues Houston presented by Cricket Wireless - Houston

Clairo is just really flat live. She has little to now personality or stage presence. The openers also made no sense for this concert.

    WE LOVE U CLAIRO

by Tay on 10/22/19House of Blues Las Vegas presented by Cricket Wireless - Las Vegas

The concert was amazing. Clairo is honestly more angelic than expected. The venue is as always very beautiful. I wish they blasted the AC a little more. I mean come on, there's 70+ people huddling together, talking, breathing, sweating all in the same vicinity. The least they could do was crank up the cool air. I figured they would since The Electric Feels concert was perfect temperature. Overall everything was beautiful, the service was great. I loved it.

    Missing immersion from pre-recorded tracks

by Brian V on 10/22/19House of Blues Las Vegas presented by Cricket Wireless - Las Vegas

First, great show by all three line ups: Hello Yello, Beabadoobee, Clairo. One thing that bothered me was the fact that the bands didn’t have enough members to play all parts of the songs. There were tracks pre-recorded and played along with the songs. As a live performance this really took away from the immersion to the music/art! Clairo got a little bothered by the teenies. Boss Diva! But shes def got a huge future in front of her based on the performance I saw! Good show guys!

    Overall Pretty Good

by Jasmin on 10/20/19The Wiltern - Los Angeles

The show was good overall but she was pretty hard to hear like 50% of the time. She opened with Alewife and I legit couldn’t hear her singing at all. The instruments were way louder than her voice. As the concert went on it got a bit better but she needs to sing louder bro.

great show but dead crowd :/

by C. B. on 10/9/19The Depot - Salt Lake City

I had a great time at Clairo's concert but there was only one huge problem, which I'll get to soon. Luckily doors opened 15 minutes early, which was nice, but it all started when I got into the crowd (2nd row) and met up with a few of my friends. At around 7:45 ? Hello Yello came on and performed. Previously, I had never heard their music but all their songs were rock and there were lots of opportunities to jump up and down, but nobody did. Everyone was just standing there, uninterested, and it made me a little sad. Then, at around 8:15 ? Beebadoobee came on and I really like her so I was singing along to a few songs, but nobody was interested in her either. Even the songs of hers that had "jumping parts"- if you know what I mean; nobody was jumping. It really kills my happy/excited mood when I'm at a concert with a dead crowd. It ruins the fun imo bc nobody is really having fun or expressing themselves, which I enjoy. And then at 9:15, Clairo came on and barely anybody cheered- the cheering and screaming lasted for about 5 seconds and then it got silent, which was really disappointing to me. During the concert, nobody was really singing around me at all and nobody was jumping or was excited at all. It was a really disappointing crowd but she put on a great show, I just don't think she'll be coming back anytime soon bc of the lame crowd that was at the show. But again, it's not at all The Depot's fault, it's all the "fans" that were at the show.

Clairo beautiful voice but seemed to fade in and out.

by MJE on 10/9/19The Depot - Salt Lake City

The venue was amazing! Clairo was the best out of the three bands but her voice seemed to fade in and out. Some songs were stronger than others.

    never. again.

by prefernottosay on 9/6/18The Foundry - Philadelphia

vip was checked in more than 3 hours later than supposed to. standing in the RAIN. no one knew what was happening, apparently "issue with the artist/band." vip was held after, rather than before like planned. show was extremely underwhelming. the singer was rude to multiple people i met there, myself included (before and after meet and greets, not when people were recording their interactions, of course). got home to new jersey at 1 am.

    Unamusing

by NatashaA on 8/23/18The Cambridge Room at House Of Blues - Dallas

Great venue, one of my favorites but seeing Clairo live was equivalent to watching a middle school talent show. The only difference is that you have to pay for it. Only attended bc I bought tickets in advance and I knew no one was going to buy them if I sold them.
