The musical, The Civil War, is moving and beautifully sung. In my memory it is less a "musical" than a song cycle, since there is no real storyline taking the songs through any sort of narrative, apart from the fact that there was a war going on, being fought over the issue of slavery.
I would recommend this musical BUT...only if you can sit on the bottom level. We were on the top level, and our ability to SEE the performers, and even the images playing against a screen during the production, was really awful. I missed a lot and often couldn't see a number of the performers, including the ones actually singing at any given moment--since they tended to be at the front of the stage (wholly obscured from our view). I think this is a problem but I also think it's one that could be fixed with better direction, simply by repositioning the singers a bit (I don't know about the screen showing the images--which is a pity).
So in all....I'd give the performers an A but the director or whoever places them in their performance more like a C.
