How do I word this? Have you ever met somebody that has really lofty goals but completely lacks the skills to not just achieve but excel at them? That exactly describes this play adaptation of an iconic Christmas movie. It's a movie filled with song and dance and it was a play filled with off-key notes and zero dance skills. It was a play that took pivotal scenes from the movie and completely changed them. There was nothing about it that made the hour and a half drive worthwhile. I thought perhaps it was just me that felt this way, fidgeting in my seat, and wondering when it was going to be over. But when intermission hit and I was telling my mom my thoughts about it a large group in front of us echoed my sentiments and they too had decided to leave an intermission. I can appreciate wanting to pull off such a large endeavor. I can even appreciate the time that was taken to try to do so. But if you do not have people that can dance, at least somewhat on par to mirror the dance moves, then don't do a play based on a movie filled with dance. If you do not have cast members that have any chemistry, do not put them together for the romance aspect of the story. And if you have cast members that don't have the ability to enunciate their words leaving everyone wondering what they are saying each time they're on stage, don't put them in a major role. This was a high school worthy performance at best. Just stay home and your comfy jammies, with your fresh snacks, and save yourself the hassle.
It was an amazing performance by all!! Singing, dancing, story line was all very week done
Incredible venue. Great show. Really enjoyed the music.
A perfect environment and Solid performance by the entire cast 👏
Beautiful setting (Embassy Theatre) since the Civic Theatre is under major renovations. One particular actress (MoMo Lamping) has an outstanding voice.
