It was great. This is the first time I went there. It is much smaller than other tournaments in term of size. You could see the matches very close. Prices are very reasonable.

    tennis quiet and fun

by playerfan1 on 8/2/13Fitzgerald Tennis Center - Washington

The Citi Open tennis was a a fun event. Not very crowded. I wish I had bought tickets for the main stadium on the shady side (behind the umpire). It was easy to park. No lines in the women's restroom. Food okay - nothing fancy. The landscaping looked as if it was just refreshed (new mulch etc.). It would have been helpful if the ticket takers handed us a program. I had to search for one at a tucked away booth.

    Phenomenal experience!

by tennisfam on 8/1/13Fitzgerald Tennis Center - Washington

What an amazing time. We watched Juan Martin del Potro practice with his coach less than 8 feet away from us. We took pictures with Kei Nishikori, and Grigor Dimitrov. We go every year and are never disappointed.

    Citi Open tennis tournament: reocmmended

by TennisFan1000 on 7/31/13Fitzgerald Tennis Center - Washington

Although the Citi Open has gotten more commercial in recent years (advertisements on the tennis nets!?), and the food is overpriced and underwhelming, the tennis is great. And that's the reason to be at the tournament. Top-rated ATP players and local favorites alike compete here. The main stadium is big but intimate with no bad view lines. And it is great to wander from the main stadium to also see other matches being played away from center court, particularly during the early days of the tournament when there is a lot of activity. There are also occasional surprises. For instance, I got to watch world # 7 ranked men's tennis player Juan Martin del Potro practicing unannounced with his coach on a side court. Also, the venue is fantastic: the stadium is part of Rock Creek Park, a part of the National Park System. I would give this a "5" rating if not for the over-commercialism.

Great Venue to see Multiple Matches

by lurayreviewer111 on 12/24/12Rock Creek Park Tennis Center - Washington

This was my second year attending the event, last year being the Legg Mason Classic. Rock Creek Park Tennis Center is a great way to see multiple matches. The food is good, but quite expensive. The parking is also a bit haphazard, but they had everything in order and the shuttle service was very efficient.

Awesome tennis but Olympics hurt it

by Randomuneemu on 8/22/12Fitzgerald Tennis Center - Washington

First off, many players did not participate in this tournament this year, in order to prepare/participate in the Olympics. With most of the top players missing, the stadium was emptier than typical. Fitzgerald is a good tennis stadium. Shuttles are a convenient alternative to paying for iffy parking. Tennis was excellent. Their rules say "no jugs" which I guess allows plastic bottles, as I brought in water and other drinks. Only downside was it rained a little and the courts took long to dry (they just let the courts soak in the water). The second time it rained hard so most people, including myself, left. The delay ended up lasting a couple hours. There really isn't much cover from the rain and not much to do while under cover.

    Nice event BUT....

by GolfGirIInATennisWorld on 8/7/12Fitzgerald Tennis Center - Washington

There was an impending storm comming on Sunday and there did not seem to be sufficient coverage for spectators. We were at the mercy of taking the shuttle to the parking garage and felt it was best to leave before the storm came. I feel the ticket price was very high to have missed out on the final men's match. Parking/shuttle provisions were excellent. It made it very easy to get to the venue. The shuttle was timely and well staffed. Great provision.

    Fun event

by Mywizard on 8/7/12Fitzgerald Tennis Center - Washington

As an out of town visitor I appreciated the ease of getting to the event due to the the complimentary parking and free shuttle. Everyone working the event was friendly, including the vendors. My seat turned out to a completely obstructed view, not previously disclosed. I went to the ticket office, showed them a photo of the view. They apologized and very graciously upgraded my seat to a court side box. One of the players was very nice in posing for an on the spot photo with a couple of fans.

    Loved the CitiOpen!

by GkFlyer71 on 8/7/12Fitzgerald Tennis Center - Washington

We had a wonderful time at the CitiOpen. Although the weather was not helpful, the venue was very nice and accomodating. We went out to dinner and returned for the balance of the Finals match. We are pleased we went back to see it through.

    Schedule Unclear, Hot

by Anonymous on 8/7/12Fitzgerald Tennis Center - Washington

Maybe it was my own fault, but we didn't realize the doubles finals were first and the singles finals were much later. Also, the venue could use a lot more seating and shaded areas. It was pretty sad people were camping out pretty much any place they could- on the curb, in the shade of port-a-potties, etc.

Great tennis event, right here in your hometown

by TenusGirl on 8/6/12Fitzgerald Tennis Center - Washington

I've been to this event for years. When it was Legg Mason it was a great event and even the few changes that Citi has made this year since taking over has made it even more enjoyable. I love the fact that I can see some big names right here in DC (this year was a little more sparse due to the Olympics) and the fact that the WTA is being brought in makes it even greater! I love that they've made another grandstand court!

DC tourney - great way to experience top tennis!

by racketfrau on 8/5/12Fitzgerald Tennis Center - Washington

Great tournament, even with the Olympics going on. Good tennis (it's great seeing established marque players and up and coming stars up-close), great atmosphere and wonderful staff working the tournament, and good seats all around! And thanks for the shuttle to the Metro. It made getting to the venue much easier. Suggestion: More healthy food options! (Too much is fried; particularly not desirable in the DC heat!)

    good tennis with problems

by wtafan on 8/3/12fitsgerald tennis center - washington

citi open early rounds were fun when it wasnt raining--shuttle from UDC metro was a great feature. Grandstand courts were great place to watch womens tennis--you were close to players--could even hear the coaches when they came out to talk. (also the complaints especially Rezai). Saw some great play and (of course) some not so great play by all players. tennis schedule was not cool--no women on stadium court--Wed. Vania King and Coco playing same time. Next year put women on stadium (at least once per day). tickets and food very overpriced.

    The CitiOpen was awesome!

by tennis57 on 8/2/12Fitzgerald Tennis Center - Washington

Having been a long time attendee, I can honestly say that the CitiOpen is a tremendous improvement over the LeggMason, which wasn't too shabby I should add. With the combined ATP and WTA format; additional courts; improved lighting; and fan-friendly environment (box seat flex-seating in the Main Stadium, which isn't the case with Arther Ashe Stadium, Queens, NY), I would highly recommend this event to anyone. I can't wait until next year when the Olympics will be out of play, opening up the event to more top-ranked players - Serena and Venus do you hear me!?

    Great Tennis!

by Tnsfn on 8/1/12Fitzgerald Tennis Center - Washington

Great first round matches. Loved the accessibility to players and that men and woman playing at the same time.
