Cinderella on Tour
Cinderella is unique among the Rodgers and Hammerstein musicals in that it was the famous pair's only musical written for television. The 1957 debut of Cinderella featured musical-theater legend Julie Andrews in the title role, playing handmaiden to her stepmother and stepsisters after her father's passing.
In keeping with the storyline of the classic folktale, the musical follows Cinderella as she hopes for a better life, or at least one far away from her family members' demands. She is granted that wish by a fairy godmother who, through her magical transformations of the young woman and a nearby pumpkin, helps brings Cinderella tantalizingly close to the destiny about which she dreams.
In 2013, a new take on Rodgers & Hammerstein's Cinderella debuted on Broadway, with a script updated by Douglas Carter Beane (To Wong Foo, Thanks for Everything, Xanadu). The updated version of the story adds a few more characters and intrigue-filled plot twists, and — most notably — makes one stepsister at least somewhat sympathetic to Cinderella's plight.
The soundtrack also includes four Rodgers & Hammerstein songs that weren't in the original run of the show, which further expand the range of the plot. Laura Osnes (Grease, South Pacific) and Santino Fontana (Frozen, Crazy Ex-Girlfriend) originated the roles of Ella and Prince Topher on Broadway, while Carly Rae Jepsen and Keke Palmer also played the title character during the production's Broadway run.
The Broadway run of Beane's Cinderella revival closed in January 2015, but the show is still enchanting audiences around the world with its touring production. Starring Kaitlyn Mayse as Ella, Lukas James Miller as Topher, and Zina Ellis as the fairy godmother Marie, this Cinderella demonstrates how with a little magic and a sprinkle or two of fairy dust, anyone can be who they want to be.

Absolutely loved it! Great job cast and crew! I loved this play when I was a child....and I still love it as an adult! Costumes were amazing. Thanks for coming to Springfield, Ohio and sharing your talent.
I have loved Cinderella ever since I was a child. Annually it came on TV in the 60s the songs were all there. My 4 nieces were my guest age range from 17 through 26. The four of them had a wonderful time and an impression was made. The singing, gowns & dancing were amazing done. The Kuss / Clark State auditorium is a wonderful venue, good seating with price value.
Absolutely a great show! I enjoyed it as much, if not more than my 10 year old daughter. The costume changes were phenomenal along with the acting, singing and dancing! LOVED IT!
Incredible job! Fabulous costumes & scenery transported you to a magical time where you could live out your fairytale dream with your prince! Songs & Music fantastic!
My daughters, granddaughters and I all went to see Cinderella! We were all amazed! This was a wonderful show and the venue was great!
The seats were to far away from the stage. Anything in the back of the room made it hard to see.
This play appeals to all ages! The singing and dancing were excellent. This is a new Cinderella.
The show, in itself, was good. Our seats were comfortable. My only complaint would be the start time for young children. I'm glad I could experience this show with my grandchildren but wish it could have started earlier where it was a school night.
I was not impressed with the political innuendos. I found this show to be overall untasteful. I heard this same sentiment from people sitting in the audience. Rodgers and Hammerstein would not have been impressed!
It was a great show. The music and the acting was wonderful.
The show was great! Great humor for both adults and children.
Fantastic show! Everyone is so talented! Highly recommended.
Seeing the show remind me of watching this when I was younger. There were new twists and pelotte but pretty much stayed on point with a few new songs.
So beautiful, the singing, dancing, story was so memorable and funny
This was a big disappointment it was not Rogers and Hammerstein and should have been advertised differently. Even the kids didn't know who was Cinderella. Don't waste your money going to see this. I paid a lot of money for these seats. We go often to plays and I have never been disappointed or wrote a bad review. Some people even left because they said this is not a Cinderella play.
The show was very cute and comical. The singing was in point. They kids and adults in the audience were laughing throughout the evening. The story line was very good but it didn't follow the traditional Cinderella story. Different but still entertaining. I loved the costumes especially the quick costume changes of Cinderella and the Fairy Godmother. Very magical. Our show started at 7:30 PM which was a little late for most kids. At intermission we had to buy my nieces a cookie (sugar) so they could stay up the second half of the show (ages 5 and 10). We got out of the show around 9:50 PM which was pretty late for them. Especially for a school night. I wish they had an earlier showing at least one night the show was in town.
This was an awesome play. The actors were spot on on their performance. Scenery was visually stimulating & appropriate for the scences. Screenplay was serious & riviting, but had touches of humor throughout that added to the enjoyment. Had some twists to it that I had not seen in Cinderella. Enjoyed it very much
Cinderella was very good. The scenery was beautiful. The only think I did not like was that the music was too loud to hear what the singers were singing. Otherwise, I enjoyed it very much.
Cinderella was wonderful. Whoever created the costumes did a magnificent job. Costume changes appeared before ones own eyes without you even realizing it.
