About Cincinnati Cyclones

Cincinnati Cyclones at Heritage Bank Center

The ECHL's Cincinnati Cyclones play home games on the riverbank of Cincinnati's downtown. Accessible from both the Daniel Carter Beard and Taylor Southgate bridges, the Heritage Bank Center sports complex sits along the same drag as Great American Ball Park and Paul Brown Stadium, where the Cincinnati Reds (MLB) and Cincinnati Bengals (NFL) play, respectively. As the winter months approach each year, the Cyclones are a hot ticket, hosting one of the 25 other teams in the ECHL in the nearly 18,000-person arena.

Coach Matt Thomas' Cyclones team is always primed for competitive match-ups, with 14 straight winning seasons from 2006 to 2020. The team is the affiliate of the NHL's Buffalo Sabres, with the 2020 squad led by veteran sharpshooter Jesse Schultz and captain Justin Vaive. If there's a signature to Cyclones games, it's the team's mascot, Twister, who checks in at "202 pounds of windblown muscle" and slides across the ice on his head during intermissions. And if you're feeling ambitious, Cyclones games are also known for the infamous "Beeramids," stacks of empty beer cans along the corners of the glass that grow as the game goes along (21+ fans only).

Cincinnati Cyclones History

While the Cincinnati Cyclones franchise bounced between ECHL and IHL in their early years, the current iteration of the team joined the ECHL in 2001 and won Kelly Cups in 2008 and 2010. The Cyclones are an affiliate of the NHL's Buffalo Sabres, but have also been affiliated in the past with the Montreal Canadiens, Nashville Predators and Anaheim Ducks. The Canadiens era yielded perhaps the greatest Cyclone player of all time in David Desharnais, who before an illustrious career in Montreal, won the league MVP, Rookie of the Year and scoring titles en route to leading the Cyclones to the 2008 championship. In addition to their Kelly Cups, the Cyclones have won multiple conference championships and division crowns. The historic 2007-2008 team earned the record for the most successful ECHL season of all time, with 55 wins and 115 points.

Hockey with the Cyclones is always a good time. The ticket prices are such that you can afford to take the family. Tonight had dollar dogs and Cunnningham Boble Heads. I honestly feel that not only do the Cyclones do their best to bring home a win, they also strive to bring in the fans. I wonder why not all the seats are filled. It's not a lacking on the part of the team. If you go just once, you'll be hooked. Come out and fill those seats! You won't be disappointed.

Great venue - but we lost!

by AlTheBikerGuy on 1/27/10U.S. Bank Arena - Cincinnati

USBank Arena is a mid-size venue that is super clean, comfortable and offers a great view from just about every seat. We sat next to the penalty box right on the ice (1st row) and even though one corner of the rink was difficult to see without leaning forward in our seats, being that close to the action was cool. Because the crowd was sparse for this rare Monday game, we walked around the entire arena to check out the view from all sections, and I can honestly say there isn't a bad seat in the house. I'm looking forward to my next game and am considering a box for my coworkers. They look very nice and I am told they are very reasonably priced.

    January 23, 2010 Cyclones win 6 - 1.

by jerfen33 on 1/24/10U.S. Bank Arena - Cincinnati

Excellent seats. 2nd row next to the Cyclone bench for a great price. #28 from the Cyclones gave my son a hockey puck and he received a t-shirt as well. To top it all off they handed out fan flags and gave children up to age 12 a free meal. The meal included a hot dog, chips, and a Sunkist. My son loved it!!!

    Good hockey game

by Kkeefe312 on 12/27/09U.S. Bank Arena - Cincinnati

As all sporting events go, you lose some - you win some. Tonight, my team lost. But all in all it was an enjoyable evening. It's one of the few events to which a family can afford to attend.

    fun!!!

by dirigentbna on 12/27/09U.S. Bank Arena - Cincinnati

I've seen better hockey before, but it was still a blast. $12 tickets 9 rows from the ice, free on-street parking close to the arena and cheap beer! What could be better! I'll definitely be back.

    cyclones vs royals dec 12

by silvereagle on 12/13/09U.S. Bank Arena - Cincinnati

overall experience very positive. negative, after going through turnstile, was decended upon by various people, they need to stay atleast 30 to 40 feet from trunstile, as it causes a heavy congestion and makes it hard to get through, very unnecessary.

by SocialWorker1 on 12/6/09U.S. Bank Arena - Cincinnati

Really good seats and the home team won. FYI Don't go when the scouts are there if you don't want to be knocked over for a free t-shirt.

    Teddy Bear toss.

by Pugz on 12/5/09U.S. Bank Arena - Cincinnati

The Teddy Bear toss was outstanding. We would love to see a picture of a face or 2 of a Shriner's Hospital child enjoying a Teddy Bear.

Cyclones over Kalamazoo Wings on Turkey Drop night

by Pugz on 11/28/09U.S. Bank Arena - Cincinnati

$1 beer & hot dogs is always an attraction. The WKRP in Cincinnati clip to go with the Turkey drop was hysterical. We wouldn't mind seeing other WKRP clips in between periods for most games. We also went to Throwback Night which was an obvious hit given the 10,300+ fans in attendance.

    Cyclone game was great

by Kkeefe312 on 11/28/09U.S. Bank Arena - Cincinnati

First time to a Cyclones game; first hockey game for our 10 year old son. Front row seats were fantastic for the feel of the speed of the game and the down close, in your face action. However, next trip will be further up in the stands to see all of the action on both ends. Sitting at one end, when your team's goal is on the other end two out of three of the periods, you tend to miss a lot of the important action. The choice of the seat all depends on what you want as your point of view. Could not been happier with the entire experience from the food to the souveniers. I highly recommend this for a great family experience.

Seats were in the first row right behind the bench. With the coaching staff standing in front of us you could not see more than 20% of the ice and was impossible to follow the puck. Luckily there were open seats and could move back a couple of rows.
