Mesmerizing and accurate
Broadway Playhouse at Water Tower Place - Chicago
Being a Churchill afficianado I can honestly say that this performance was not only superbly given but also very accurate. I wanted more from this seasoned 81 year old actor but alas; time ran out. I could have listened to his monologue foe another full evening.

Entertaining and Informative
Broadway Playhouse at Water Tower Place - Chicago
This was a great history lesson(refresher) told in a humorous and thoughtful way. There were so many new facts I did not know. I was engaged throughout the entire show. It gives a great background for today's events. It made we wish we had a strong leader, grounded in traditional values to steer us clear of a possible Third World War. I would highly recommend this production.

Worthy of a View!
Broadway Playhouse at Water Tower Place - Chicago
Theater easy to find; parking convenient, within walking distance of theater; play was excellent; helpful and cheerful theater attendants; set-design historically appropriate; the worst thing-Time to invest in new SEATS.
Winston Churchill has just been awarded honorary US citizenship by President John F. Kennedy. In recognition of this unprecedented occasion, The American-Oxford Society has asked the former Prime Minister to address them and discuss what this honor means to him.
In this often funny, sometimes touching and always engaging one-man-show... veteran British actor, David Payne brings Churchill to life onstage. Audiences will be delighted to hear of his exploits during the Boer War, his constant battles with Britain's fellow politicians, and his special relationship with America and America's presidents. But most telling of all, Churchill enlightens the audience with intimate and touching details of the two special women in his life--his wife Clementine and Queen Elizabeth.
With elements of The Crown and The Darkest Hour, David Payne once again gives audiences an opportunity to spend an evening with one of the greatest historical figures in the world--Sir Winston Churchill.
