The holiday Church Basement Ladies show was wonderful! The Christmas music was just what we needed and the story truly heartwarming. To see and hear so many things I heard as a kid in our country Lutheran church brought back both hilarious and fond memories. Don’t miss this show.
It was a delightful play. Not what I expected at all. Storyline was good. Singing was excellent. Suprising ending.
I have been to others in the past and this was the least funny. I was disappointed. The highlight was the holiday songs, so I felt I got some holiday spirit.
I bought these tickets for myself and two girlfriends thinking we really need some joy and BIG laughs. So much sadness going on in this world. It was so entertaining. Big laughs all the way through. Loved it. Can’t wait to see the next one. ❤️
This is second Church ladies play for me, and laughed so hard that my cheeks hurt. It was funny and poignant at the same time but the ending with all the Elvis's put me over the edge with laughter!! I am bringing my sister to see it Dec 28 at 3 PM, and cant wait to feel the joy, and laughter that warms the soul once again!!!
Love the Church Basement Ladies. If you like to laugh this is the show for you! The entire cast is delightful!
As expected, the show was funny and my Lutheran family loved it. In spite of the laughs, there was too much singing in the first half of the show. It appeared they were singing to cover up the fact they didn't have much dialog to say. Of the several shows we have seen, this was our least favorite.
We LOVE VIVIAN!!! There was a different Mavis and she was really funny!! All the ladies sounded wonderful and the sing a long was fun. My Mom got such a kick out of the Elvis part, she's a huge Elvis fan!
I thought the performance was great and I enjoyed it very much
As always, the actors are perfect for their roles! The music in this performance was great and added a lot to the story. Having grown up in a small town church in northern Minnesota and having worked many, many "church basement" dinners, it's easy to relate to the "ladies"!!! Love their shows!
Enjoyed our evening with the CBL. My sisters enjoyed the program and message. I have attended several of the CBL and Looney Lutheran productions. I found this one had a slow start and just wasn't as instantly engaging as the others. Even with references at the beginning to the Pastor's wife, or the Widow Snustad, it would have helped to have more of a preface or better notes in the program about the characters and background information or something. That Gilmer GIlmerson was a pig farmer, for instance would have been nice. Also, having the main characters adding comments to the tape as others was disconcerting at first. Could there just be a "voice" as they recall or listen to it? The singing and execution was great. Just didn't have the pep and continuous engagement as other CBL plays I've been to.
Wonderful! Enjoyed it a lot! If you lived in the era, you'll get the humor and the climate of that day. If you didn't, there's still so much to enjoy! Go see it.
I was surprised we were in such a small theater. The set was cute.
This play was very entertaining. The actors were all professional and each did an excellent job. We had such a good time that we are already thinking about our next visit to the Ames Center.
I have seen several performances of the Church Basement Ladies over the years, and I've loved every one of them. They took the set right out of my little South Dakota church basement from my childhood! (My grandma was our Mrs. Snustad!) However, I don't know if I will go back to this venue. I am 5'11", and it was absolutely the most uncomfortable seating I've ever experienced at any theater. I felt like I was on a small plane on a mission trip to Zimbabwe!
They did a good job. However, not quite my style................
This is the 2nd Church Basement ladies play I have seen. Both were really good & funny. I also appreciate that they are clean shows that a family can go see.
I attended this performance with 4 friends. We all agreed it was funny and entertaining. The play started out rather slow, but it built to a very funny and great ending. The performers were excellent.
After a very good lunch at Dangerfield's in Shakopee, my friends and I enjoyed spending the afternoon of February 19th watching Rise Up O Men at the Ames Center. We laughed so much! I must say that I miss some of the original cast but the ones performing in those spots now are doing a good job. I was impressed that two of the actors were doing double duty. I was a faithful follower of Church Basement Ladies when it first came out, but I have missed a couple of plays. Keep up the great acting! We Lutherans enjoy watching you!
