About

Chromeo, the funk-electronic DJ duo composed of David "Dave 1" Macklovitch and Patrick "P-Thugg" Gemayel, have been churning out catchy dancefloor additions since forming in 2002. Beginning as high school bandmates in Montreal, Canada, the pair combined their appreciation for ‘80s funk, pop and R&B with a mutual studio savvy that leaned more toward hip-hop production. Dave 1 and P-Thugg debuted as Chromeo on 2004’s She’s in Control featuring their first major single “Needy Girl,” followed by Fancy Footwork (2007) and Business Casual (2010). The duo’s 2014 album White Women pushed Chromeo into wider mainstream acclaim, debuting at No. 11 on the Billboard 200 and boasting their single “Jealous (I Ain't with It)," which peaked at No. 12 on the Billboard Hot Dance/Electronic Songs chart. Chromeo’s 2018 follow-up Head Over Heels added to the duo’s accolades with their first Grammy nomination for Best Engineered Album, Non-Classical. In 2021, Chromeo showcased their vibrant onstage personas with their first concert album, Date Night: Chromeo Live!

Chromeo was awesome, as always!! I first saw them at Lollapalooza 2008 and again this year at Lollapalooza 2010 and enjoyed their show, yet again, SO MUCH, that I wanted to see them in Seattle! As always, the men played their super fun, dance-funk hits and also included some new singles from their upcoming album. I was not a fan of their openers, in truth, I found them extremely disappointing and not to the level of Chromeo. Thank goodness Chromeo always delivers!! LOVED IT!

    Dancetastic!

by millielikesfire on 8/13/10Showbox at the Market - Seattle

I did not know it was possible to love Chromeo more after seeing them perform at the Capitol Hill Block party two years ago. Turns out I can. Chromeo is hands down the MOST FUN band/group/duo to see live. The music is excellent the energy is contagious and no one in the vicinity can help bustin a move. The thing I respect most in an artist is when they not simply perform but when the audience can tell they really enjoy their music and enjoy performing it for the audience. Watching Dave 1 and P-Thugg are perfect examples of that. Both are very talented musicians and both play numerous instruments live. The whole set is a jam fest/dance party that all ages and all fans can enjoy. Chromeo's music is fresh, unique, and really one of a kind. If you haven't seen them live yet, what are you thinking?!! The Showbox was the perfect location for last nights show. The drinks are a bit pricey but seating in the bar provied an amazing 'over the crowd' view for us short people and provides plenty of spacious dance room compared to packed floor. But then again it was a dance party so no one minded the fullness of the crowd. When it was done no one wanted to leave. NEW ALBUM SEPTEMBER 14th!! Life is good :)

    Chromeo was a blast

by Shockog88 on 8/13/10Showbox at the Market - Seattle

Chromeo came on stage they killed it. Their lights were awesome. The crowd was good. I danced the whole time. This show was fun and I was totally exhausted by the time the show was over. I would see Chromeo anytime they come around.

One of the best shows I've ever seen.

by jymc on 8/11/10Bowery Ballroom - NEW YORK

Chromeo knows how to put on a good show. Their awesome 80's funkadelic music is not only insanely danceable, but has a great live sound as well. Intregreation of the cowbell: KEY. Supporting acts also brought down the house. Perfect accompaniment to Chromeo's style.

Chromeo with Holy Ghost at the Majestic

by zzimpzz on 8/6/10Majestic Theatre - Detroit

What a great show. These two guys are quite the performers. They had an opening act called Telephone before Holy Ghost came out that I really did not care for. It was like really bad karaoke. Holy Ghost was good. I had never heard of them before, but I am sure to pick up some of their music now.

Chromeo in Detroit - great show but...

by arithmetik on 8/6/10Majestic Theatre - Detroit

They had way too many backing tracks. As a conservative estimation, I'd say 75% (maybe more) of what the crowd was hearing was pre-recorded. But, as usual with Chromeo, they had the crowd involved and excited.

    Definitely Recommend!!

by sylversmith on 7/31/10House of Blues Boston - Boston

This concert was one of the most fun experiences Ive ever had at a music event. They completely interacted with the crowd and got great energy without any of the violent, mosh pit response. The venue itself was well ventilated and open so everyone had a great view of the stage, and the music just made you want to get out there and dance! The weakest part of the whole show was Telephoned since they were set up well on the side of the stage and were obviously lip singing some of their music. Neon Indian started out a little weak, but really built up into a great energy by the end.

    Very exciting and energetic!

by notabarney on 7/28/10Trocadero - Philadelphia

I have never been to a show that featured a band similar to Chromeo. I didn't exactly know what to expect. Just as Chromeo came on stage and the crowd began chanting, I found out what I was in for. Chromeo put on an amazing show and the two are great showman. Such a fun time. I will never miss another local show where they perform.
