About

Christopher Cross made history when his debut self-titled album was released in 1980.  The album featured the international hit songs Sailing, Run Like the Wind and Never Be The Same. It went on to win five Grammy Awards, including—for the first time ever—the four most prestigious awards: Record of the Year (for the single “Sailing”), Album of the Year, Song of the Year (also for “Sailing”), and Best New Artist.  An extraordinary song writer, Cross wrote all these songs and another of the most famous songs of the time - “Arthurs Theme (The best that you can do)” which he co-wrote with Burt Bacharach & Peter Allen and featured in the film Arthur that starred Liza Minelli and Dudley Moore.    Arthur’s Theme won the 1981 Academy Award for Best Original Song.

Christopher Cross has also worked with some music greats and shared the stage with some music icons – from Mike McDonald – who sang backing vocals on Ride Like The Wind through to singing backing vocals with Carl Wilson on David Lee Roth’s version of California Girls.

Early in his career Christopher Cross and his band were the opening band for Led Zeppelin and Jethro Tull whilst in 1970 he subbed in for Ritchie Blackmore from Deep Purple for a show in San Antonio.

Thirty years since his stellar debut into the music business, Cross continues recording and touring across the nation, stopping at venues such as the Depot (Salt Lake City). He has released multiple albums and continued to contribute to film and tv soundtracks – including shows such as 30 Rock (he wrote Lemon’s Theme for the soundtrack).

His most recent album, Secret Ladder was released in 2014. The 13 track album, influenced by the likes of Joni Mitchell and Randy Newman, was written mostly with Rob Meurer and again Cross has worked with the finest musicians including bassist Will Lee (of the Fab Faux and Late Night with David Letterman), drummer Keith Carlock (Steely Dan and Toto), guitarist Eric Johnson, saxophonist David Mann, and vocalists Michael McDonald and Jeff Foskett (Brian Wilson’s musical director.

  • Christopher Cross was great!!!

    by MeggieB99 on 4/1/18Madrid Theatre - Kansas CityRating: 3 out of 5

Christopher Cross played a great show. The Madrid was beautiful and we were excited to be there. Clearly there was a group of people who were NOT there to enjoy the music. Soooooo much noise was coming from the back of the theater that another concert goer actually screamed “will you shut the hell up?!?!” in between songs. The constant murmer and laughing from the lobby was such a distraction that it made the concert less enjoyable. I would love to see Christopher cross and his back up singers again.

  • Christopher Cross was mediocre

    by Sissy1961 on 2/19/18Paragon Casino - MarksvilleRating: 3 out of 5

Not sure if it was because of the lack of audience but he just didn't seem to be into this concert. This was my 2nd time seeing him and his performance was just off. His band and the girls in the band seemed to do more of the performing than he did. Disappointing performance.

  • Christopher's show is well worth the money!

by LSUfan on 2/13/18Paragon Casino Resort - MarksvilleRating: 4 out of 5

This was the first time I have seen Christopher Cross live and I thought that it was really worth it. He played all of his hits and many of his other songs that were performed was off of his first album entitled Christopher Cross. Highlights for me included Never Be The Same, a nice rendition of Think of Laura, Best That You Can Do with a video from the movie Arthur which reminded me how great of a movie that was, Sailing and the finale, Ride Like The Wind. For an encore, the band performed John Lennon's Imagine. He is accompanied by a nice band. I thought that the MVP of the band was sax player Justin Vasquez. He helped make many of the songs sound incredible. Kudos to his two female back-up singers, Marcia Ramirez and Brittany Black. They were good. And give credit to the sound guy. All of the singing and instruments were crystal clear. It's amazing how much you can enjoy a show when the sound is right. The only negative I had with the show was the second to last song, All Right. The lyrics were sung by Brittany, not Christopher. It just didn't do anything for me. I would have much preferred Christopher singing it. Also of note, I was disappointed in the attendance, or lack there of. The venue was only about half full and the prices were more than reasonable. They ranged from $30-$65. Perhaps Christopher should try a venue with a little more population next time. Maybe L'auberge in Baton Rouge or a casino in Biloxi or New Orleans would provide more people. But overall, a nice show that is highly recommended.

  • Outstanding

by Killer55 on 10/12/17Gallo Center for the Arts - ModestoRating: 5 out of 5

I have always wanted to see Christopher Cross. I was so glad I did last night at the Gallo Events Center for the Arts in Modesto, Ca. Great show. The Musicianship was amazing. All top notch including Chris who played some tasteful guitar riffs and solos. I did not know he was that good! Than there were his two vocalist whom were fantastic in their own right. Some of his classics were done in a different style and loved it. It was nice to hear a different arrangement. One can always go back to the recordings. Hope you record them Chris! Christopher's vocals were excellent. All in All a great evening of great music from a very talented musician/songwriter. Get the chance, I say Go. I know I will again. Bravo

  • Christopher Cross was awesome

by SuzieSweetSinger on 10/10/17Boca Raton Resort & Club - Boca RatonRating: 5 out of 5

The show was fantastic. Our seats were great, private table for two, right up front with an open bar. The band was great. Christopher Cross was awesome. The Boca Raton Resort Waldorf Astoria is somewhere I will absolutely go to again, it has everything. The restaurant at 501 was excellent. New meaning to dinner and a show! Close to where I live and it was great and a full moon as well. If you get a chance I highly recommend it. Thank you Waldorf!

by WishLouWasThere on 9/29/17OC Inlet Parking Lot - Ocean CityRating: 4 out of 5

All in all pretty good but I like Christopher Cross a lot. My wife was kind of bored. Did not realize that he is an excellent guitarist and has some jazz in him. Has top notch band to back him up.

  • SAILING away in Ocean City

by PackersOwner on 9/28/17OC Inlet Parking Lot - Ocean CityRating: 5 out of 5

I saw him in 1981 at Merriweather Post, and his Music is still as smooth today as it was in the 80s. I had my LPs from the early 80s, that are making a come back, and I enjoy listening to.

  • Christopher Cross Was Amazing!!

by DocPife on 9/28/17OC Inlet Parking Lot - Ocean CityRating: 5 out of 5

Great Show!! There wasn't a bad seat in the place. Classic tunes along with some new ones. He brought a great show to Ocean City, Maryland. Great experience for my family. Definitely would see him and attend another venue in Ocean City.

  • First Time Seeing CC

by MajaPalra on 9/28/17OC Inlet Parking Lot - Ocean CityRating: 2 out of 5

At first, I was not sure if CC was ok. He came out for his first song and mumbled his way through. Then, he introduced his band, one of them being from "right here in Florida". The only problem with that was, the concert was in Ocean City, MD. Someone up front must have corrected him and he said something like: "Well, right next door." Except that Jacksonville is 750 miles away. Also, when the full band was playing, if you did not already know the words, you could not understand or even hear a word he sang. Maybe it was the sound guy but I don't think so. He really needs to project more. On the plus side, he had an unplugged section where it was just him, an acoustic guitar, and sometimes one of his singers. That sounded great and was very enjoyable. He could have done the whole concert that way.

  • Christopher Cross was delightful!

by NanaCL on 9/28/17OC Inlet Parking Lot - Ocean CityRating: 5 out of 5

Great show. Christopher played all the songs that he is well know for. It was a pleasure to see him and enjoy a wonderful evening of music. Would definitely recommend this venue to others.

  • He was terrible

by 233433D on 9/27/17OC Inlet Parking Lot - Ocean CityRating: 1 out of 5

We where in the third row and could not understand a word he was singing. He seemed like he wanted to be somewhere else. The one backup singer seemed like she was doing everyone a favor by being there .and the other backup singer was really good and you could see she wanted to be there and was happy. My husband and I where very disappointed.

  • Christopher Cross was awesome!!!

by Croney on 9/27/17OC Inlet Parking Lot - Ocean CityRating: 5 out of 5

I thoroughly enjoyed this concert. Loved every song he played...both old and new. All very talented musicians. And I loved Christophers intro to each song. Informative and entertaining.

  • Christopher Cross Concert

by Rustyrebel2 on 9/27/17OC Inlet Parking Lot - Ocean CityRating: 3 out of 5

I am sorry for all the losses Christopher has experienced. This concert seemed more like a funeral dirge than a celebration of his musical accomplishments... very disappointing!

  • Christopher Cross-Humble & incredibly talented

by RBW2 on 9/27/17OC Inlet Parking Lot - Ocean CityRating: 5 out of 5

In all honesty, I wasn't sure what to expect. Sure, this guy owned the charts with his first few albums. After that, I kinda lost interest. It turns out that was my poor judgment. Many of the songs he played at the show came from records I'd never heard. They wee as good as the hits I knew. Funny, humble and self-deprecating, Christopher Cross is an amazingly talented guitar player and song writer. It was a great night of fantastic music.

  • So Disappointing

by Anonymous on 5/29/17Birchmere - AlexandriaRating: 1 out of 5

Everyone was great except the star, Christopher Cross. Couldn't hear over the band. I couldn't understand how the sound guy never made any adjustments. He did "Think of Laura" alcapella and it was the one bright spot of the night. His mouth was right up to the mike and still couldn't hear him.

  • longtime favorite is terrific

    by jennifer53 on 5/17/17Birchmere - AlexandriaRating: 5 out of 5

We have never seen Christopher Cross in person and have always had a conflict whenever he has been in our area but finally were able to see him perform at The Birchmere, one of our favorite venues. He is a talented musician and played all his hits as well as some from a new album coming out soon. He explained the back stories for his songs and seemed to enjoy performing, even though he didn't smile often. His band was also really good and they all looked like they were having a great time performing. Christopher Cross performed some acoustic selections without the band and those included "Think of Laura", all the more poignant because he explained it was about a friend who had tragically died at 19. My seat was right in front and I could have reached out and touched Christopher Cross but I didn't...ha...seats were awesome!

  • Love Christopher Cross. Great show.

Show started on time . What a great musical talent. Love all the songs. The band was great.

  • FInally fulfilled

by Niffa on 5/14/17Bergen Performing Arts Center - EnglewoodRating: 5 out of 5

I have been listening to, singing along with and loving Christopher Cross songs since I was a child. My dream of being able to sing along in real life was finally fulfilled this week! Still the same smooth, melodic and beautiful voice as ever! I definitely recommend seeing hm in person especially if you are a child of the 80's. My only issue with the concert had nothing at all to do with his performance. The Bergan PAC is not an easy place to see a concert. This was not my first experience at the venue. While it was much better than the last time I was there, the sound system definitely leaves more than a lot to be desired. I don't say this lightly because I go to concerts of different genres all the time. The sound is not equalized and always too loud for enjoyment.

  • Great show

It's our first time watching him! Great show, great place! Definitely would see him again!
