About

CHRISTINE AND THE QUEENS IN CONCERT:

Christine and the Queens are already synthpop royalty in their native France, and it's only a matter of time before the rest of the world bows down. Androgynous project mastermind Héloïse Letissier is a visionary pop auteur in the vein of legends like David Bowie and Grace Jones, and her manifold talents – pitch-perfect singing, razor-sharp dancing, and boundary-pushing style – are on full display at the group's live shows. From the moment she takes the stage it's clear Letissier was born to perform, and the radiant energy she brings to the table is shared by her talented backing band and army of popping-and-locking backup dancers. Sleek, synth-soaked gems like "iT" and "Tilted" are punctuated by dazzling light shows and pulse-pounding choreography breaks, and through it all Letissier shines like a beacon, crackling with passion while she dances her heart out and casts her powerful voice over the crowd. For a vibrant and soulful synthpop party that pulls out all the stops, Christine and the Queens are not to be missed.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Héloïse Letissier studied theater in Lyon before a fateful trip to London sparked her interest in making music. While there she fell in with a group of drag artists who encouraged her to start singing after hearing her hum, and before long she had crowned herself Christine and the Queens – a nod to the drag queens who inspired her creative rebirth. She released her debut EP Miséricorde to French markets in 2011, following up with a string of increasingly polished EPs that earned her critical acclaim and supporting slots on tour with Lykke Li and Lilly Wood and the Prick. By 2013 she was climbing the mainstream pop charts in France, and in 2014 she won Best Female Artist at the Victoires de la Musique (the French equivalent of the Grammys). Her full-length debut, 2014's Chaleur Humaine, cracked the Top 10 in several European countries, and in 2016 it was repackaged as a self-titled debut and released in the US. Since then she's stunned stateside audiences with performances on late night TV and at major festivals like Coachella, earning an ever-growing fanbase that can't wait to catch her on tour.

    Tilted my way

by MajorTilted on 10/15/16Paradise Rock Club - Boston

She was fantasic... the small stage at Paradise was just the right place, keeping it really tight for her and the dancers It gave her the chance to get close to her fans, which she clearly enjoyed. The crowd were young and very loud. When it came to Tilted she gave us all what we wanted, a virtual copy of the famous version. If I had one small complaint, I would say that the white shoes she used (for instance on Jools) elsewhere showed off her moves better than the baby black velcro ones used in Boston.

    Natural performer

by Kimmay65 on 10/15/16Paradise Rock Club - Boston

Amazing performer, witty, talented, dancing and singing. Such a great voice. Some may shy away of her music because she dies sing in French, but she sang in English which didn't loose anything in translation. she is a must see, I hope she returns to Boston.

Heloise using Christine and the Queens to be daring is genius! She works that stage like no other. I'm so proud to have in the US. You can tell she enjoys what she does. She can't help but move to any music she likes. You couldnot go wrong with her! If you love to dance, be free, be anything you want...she is the way.

    Phénoménale!

by Anonymous on 10/13/16Paradise Rock Club - Boston

One of the best concerts I've seen in years. Christine and the Queens will make you dance, make you laugh, and then stop your heart with a beautiful ballad. Heloise (AKA "Christine") is an extraordinary singer and dancer. The lighting and choreography were brilliant and made the songs that much more memorable. I had only listened to her album a few times, but I loved every minute of the show, even the songs I didn't know so well. Also, she's hilarious! A warm, enthusiastic stage presence with some sharp dance moves and surprisingly powerful voice. If you like her music *at all* you will definitely want to check out her live show.

    A Rising Star

by DowntownDBrown on 10/13/16Terminal 5 - New York

First saw her on Jools Holland. Then at 9:30 in DC. And now at Terminal 5. Each time it seems she's getting better. Can't wait for a second album. She's great on the airwaves and even better in person!

Probably the best performer I've ever seen...

    by danafl83 on 10/13/16Terminal 5 - New York

Christine & the Queens throws a show like no other. I was entranced and tranfixed the whole time! I highly recommend to go see her live - even if you don't know her or her music, she has the ability to draw you in. She embodies the music through every single inch of her tiny body and takes you with her on a journey like no other. By the end of the evening I was in such an emotional high, I couldn't stop smiling :)

Charming Christine and her Queens were Fabulous

by DecadeinNaples on 10/13/16Terminal 5 - New York

Up-and-coming Christine and the Queens put on a show worthy of entertainment veterans with their unique visuals, dance moves, story and style. Christine's (Heloise's) stage presence was engaging and charming with an honest, humble delight as she thanked us for coming to see her, as if she had asked us into her home. The music was an energetic and engaging, inspiring us all to dance in our places while the visuals kept our eyes glued to her, and her Queens acrobatics and funky dance moves. So glad we discovered her this past year. What a terrific show in NYC!
