The vibe of the venu is always awesome.... Chris and the guys were so passionate about the jam- it was overwhelming at times! I am in awe of the talent- IT WAS A GREAT TIME!!
Great show. People were nice. It was a little hard to find a place to park but we managed. We got to meet most of the band Including chris robinson. Very cool night
chris and the boys absolutely killed it!!!! go see them now. you won't regret it!!!!
This show , we actually left 1/2 way through, during the break.Up to that point, all the songs sounded the same. And like any other new band. Not a seasoned pro like Chris can be.I have seen him twice before as The Black Crowes. And that rocked. This did not.Maybe it picked up later. But it can't have been much.I was let down really.
The Chris Robinson Brotherhood sounded great, and their original music was excellent. They played for 2-1/2 hours, with only a half-hour intermission, which was very cool, and the show started on time. However, it was way too mellow throughout the entire show for me and my party. There were no real kicking songs - just trippy jams. Not a bad thing, in and of itself, but it left me wanting. I had read reviews of other shows, and apparently they played a few Black Crowes tunes, as well as other covers. Not in Pittsburgh. I would have loved to hear their take on some of their favorites from other artists. The closest we got was when one of their originals drifted into the instrumental of an Allman Brothers tune - but that was all we got. Don't get me wrong - I enjoyed their music. It would be a great album to listen to at home while relaxing with some wine on the porch. The Club at Stage AE was a nice, intimate venue, and I would certainly see a show there again. The staff was polite and the bar service was good. We were sitting all the way in the back, and could still see Chris Robinson. Overall, the show was fine. Enjoyable, but it didn't "wow" me.
PURE BRILLIANCE!!! I have seen TBC over 100 times and this show was as better then their best if not better. Their JAM is simply and amazing lose yourself JAM. Everyone needs to see this show.
The first set was extremely strong. I really dug the Dylan and the Band cover. CRB has some very good songs of their own, and they were very well displayed during this set. Set two got off to a great start with Poor Elijah, but sort of sputtered and became unfocused after that. I found the jams in this set to be somewhat messy and uninteresting. Obviously, any time Chris is singing the band had my undivided attention. The Dead cover "Sugaree" to end the night was fine, though I find that song to be a little flat. I had a nice time, but I think these guys can improve and really knock it out of the park. It's not the Crowes, but I'll take what I can get...
I have been a Black Crowes fan for 20+ years and a fan of Chris Robinson and the New Earth Mud as well. However, I was not sure what to expect from the Chris Robinson Brotherhood (CRB). That being said, I can only hope that I have the opportunity to see the CRB again. I was blown away. The sound was different from both the Crowes and New Earth Mud. It had much more jazz and blues undertones that lent to some amazing free form jam sessions on many of the songs. The band really created some amazing soundscapes that gave you the feeling that they had been playing together for many years. I was fortunate enough to see them in small venue. I highly recommend anyone to catch the CRB if they are making a stop anywhere near where you live. Tickets were beyond affordable and I would honestly pay double to see them in the same venue again next week.
In some wacky ways, I feel as if I have watched Chris Robinson grow, transform, struggle, shine and transcend. A Black Crowes fan since SYMM, I can honestly say that Mr. Robinson is the finest wine in the world. He's truly become a musician, not just some local hack with great pipes. If for no other reason than to kick back with some friends (though I'd recommend jumpin' in the river and enjoying the ride), CRB is a wonderful, soulful, fun-ky trip. Assuming I get to live to 80 and Chris does too, I hope I get to hear him live at least once every year. I didn't give it 5 stars because it was the first date night my wife and I have had in months, so in all fairness, I wasn't 100% plugged in 100% of the time, but this show was incredible! And the Vogue is an awesome venue! Long Live CR!
Chris Rob was awesome. The beer could've been cheaper though
