TicketFly charged us $6+ service fee plus the $27 ticket which perturbed me but I wanted to see Chondra and have a good belly laugh. When we walked into the church, all they did was look at the screenshot of the tickets. If I were dishonest, I could've forwarded those screenshots to friends and had them come too.
I brought my husband and a friend and her husband. I didn't realize I'd put the guys in the crosshairs. It wasn't a funny "pick-on-the-guys" kind of humor. It was more of a 'why the hell did the guys come? This show is not for you'. Felt immediately uncomfortable, especially since my husband would rather had been home watching his favorite college team's football game, but came with me because he likes doing things with me.
Then she brought up her political views. Ugh.
Not sure how my friend felt, but I felt like her husband was as ready to leave as my husband was. The show was disorganized - had no definitive start/end - there was some funny parts, some embarrassing moments when we laughed and then realized what she said wasn't funny. Then we were subjected to a very long bid for sponsoring children in Haiti. Next, there was an intermission where I expected (hoping for) more funny stuff afterward but then we had church. She talked about real issues and I truly feel for her, but I expected to laugh. That's what I paid for. I then thought she was going to make us cry but I was so frustrated at that point, that I just want to exit gracefully. I shed no tears. There were quite a few who picked up their purses (and some with relieved looking husbands) that left at that point. We couldn't get out fast enough once they said good night.
Ugh! I can't believe I paid so much for this! My friend paid me for her and her husband's ticket and I felt like giving it back because I feel so responsible for a terrible evening that I'd invited them to. I feel very insensitive but I'm only speaking the truth.
