Those of us who attended the Chickenfoot show at the Chicago Theatre really were in for a special treat! Sammy, Joe, Chad and Michael put on a performance that was truly amazing. I've seen Sammy at least 20 times in the past 25 years, and this surpassed his Van Halen days and solo career. When you get 4 great musicians in the same room who can totally jam and have a blast doing it, you know it's going to be an awesome show. Thanks guys for giving us all a performance way beyond expectations!
Truly great artists don't band together well very often. More often than not, egos get in the way. Chickenfoot seems to be working. They didn't play anything from their former lives and that was perfect. If you wanted to see Sammy Hagar, you got him, and all his charismatic charm. If you wanted Joe Satriani's blistering guitar licks, you got them. If you thought you would hear something that sounded like the Sammy Hagar period of Van Halen, WRONG! Everything was Chickenfoot. Like Sammy said, "This is a cult band." Each idol's following was there, but they merged with each other. Every song had enough for everybody.
This is the best concert I've seen in a long time can't wait until they come back. They played from there hearts having fun at the same time.
Went to the show not really knowing what to expect... All I can say is that the concert ranks in the top 5 concerts I have ever seen and I've seen 100's of shows! Satriani is a guitar playing god! The concert rocked from the opening song to the Highway Star encore! Chickenfoot is the real dea!
My son & I started in the balcony but everyone was asleep they made us sit . So I asked my son do you want to sit or should we go to the main floor . Steve said lets go rock on the main floor so we snuk by security & ended uu with 12th row center . Everyone was on thier feet & rockin we both are Chickenfoot cult fans forever !! Thanks to Chickenfoot & the Loop for puttin on an awsome show !
Chickenfoot blew the doors off the Chicago Theater last night ! Packed House! Chicago will never be the same! You could feel the excitement everywhere anticipating the show! The Voices of Sammy Hagar and backup vocals and bass playing Michael Anthony were in pure form! Just awesome! For those of you who aren't familiar with Joe Satriani, .. You should and will be! He is truly a most amazing guitar player! Taught by Steve Vai..need I say more? That man can lay down some bad a** licks and is so composed while doing it..(Yeah ..nothing to it! )Truly awesome! But don't let his cool-ness fool you! You will soon be a fan of the Satchman! As for Chad Smith..he is Un-believable, His hands were a blur ! Wish I could have caught a stick as he whistled them off into the crowd while playing. This is truly one Amazing Tight Knit Rock group. They put on a fantastic show and everyone came away wanting MORE MORE MORE! It was a great show and one you shouldn't miss if you're able to purchase tickets before they sell out all venues! Chickenfoot Merchandise was flying off the shelves! Thank you guys for a AWESOME time in Chi-Town last night! PLEASE COME BACK!!!!
The show was awesome, even better than I expected, great venue
These guys sound like they've been playing together for years. Absolutely rocked the Chicago Theater. This being their first show back in the U.S. was an added plus! VERY crowd friendly and appreciattive of the fans, Chad throwing about 50 drumsticks into the crowd throughout the night, and Sammy and Mike signing autographs from the stage throughout. A little disappointed that they didn't play any VH or solo stuff, but a phenominal show anyway!
We had the pleasure of seeing four seasoned, hard-working and amazing guys perform last night. After two hours of fantastic, high-energy tunes, we felt really lucky to have spent time with Chickenfoot. The music was clear-eyed rock that seemed to bring out the best in everyone - and it was really fun to watch Joe, Sam, Chad and Mike enjoy themselves! Chicago fans really appreciate artists that visit and just work hard for us - and no one could have been disappointed last night. They all get major points for stamina, and Sam was in good voice, but Joe is just so fine - having had seats on stage left, it was a treat to once again see him play.
For a bunch of 50+ muscians, Chad is close enough, these guys can rock with the best of them. Sammy still knows how to play a crowd. Joe seems to now be doing what he was meant to be doing, playing hard rock and roll. What can you say about Chad Smith and Michael Anthony, the best rhythum section that I have ever seen. Chad Smith hits the drums harder than anyone I can remember. Great, Great Show.
I had the pleasure of seeing Chickenfoot last night (August 7th) at the Chicago Theatre - in a word: "Amazing" !! Sammy Hagar puts on a great show - he has not aged a day - and his voice is as strong and great as ever! He owned the place and kept the audience on their feet and in the moment! Satch (Satriani) was unreal - I had never seen him in concert, and loved every minute of it. I believe he has to be the most technically talented rock guitarist alive - bar none. He played some solos that I would do a disservice trying to describe. What was interesting, was at the end of the concert, Satch took a back seat and played "2nd guitar" so that Sammy could do a solo!! It was great and really gave me the sense there are no ego issues in this band -- they just love what they are doing! Several times Sammy thanked the audience for showing their appreciation for the band and their *new* music - this is a band who appreciates their audience as much as we appreciate them. SEE THEM!
i wasn't sure what to expect with a group of stars like this one.but i will say it was amazing.they had fun and always made sure that the crowd was involved.great stage show and presence.
Very talented bunch of guys. ,usic was great and fresh.
You gus were great!! A few months to tighten things up from your Park West show and you sounded great. All the guys looked like they were having fun as if this was some sort of reunion. Thanks for a great show. Cant wait until you come back!!
This concert was once again a unbelievable show. The venue was amazing and the guys definately put the foot down in Chicago!!!!
The band really rocked and were fun to watch. Tons of energy and they really seemed to enjoy being there. I have been to the Chicago Theater for many shows and usually like to sit up in the balcony, BUT...the sound for this show was almost unbearable. For the most part I would describe it as a wall of mush. I believe if the band members were in the audience they would not have approved either. I like it loud but if it isn't clear why bother.
These guys ruled! Awesome set. "Future in the Past" was the highlight. Loved the band's rapport with the crowd and each other. We had great seats in the balcony, but were all told that we could not stand. I expect that at a Fleetwood mac show or something, but not here. Thank God for Mike and Sammy yelling at all of the lame ass people in the balcony to stand up. It saved the show for me and many around me.
What a show! With Satriani's strumming, and Smith's drumming - it was phenominal! Sammy fit right back into a band after so many years on his own. Anthony was a little subdued, but the stars really shined through! Absolutely loved it - can't wait to see them again!
Simply awesome! The level of musicianship is off the charts. And the chemistry between the band members is obvious. These guys were born to rock!
