Chickenfoot blending showmanship at it's finest

by Froglady on 8/9/09The Chicago Theatre - Chicago

An unforgetable evening at a beautiful and historic Chicago theater. I am a spoiled concert goer and usually sit up front. I had purchased my ticket late and still managed to have a excellant seat in the lower level balcony. There was so much excitement in the air as everyone enjoyed Davy Knowles who opened the show. When Chickenfoot come on stage it was an arena like sound that just grabbed you by the throat and all the audience could say was 'Wow. Chickenfoot is an amazing blend of talent who played with such passion all of their new material that are sure to become classic rock songs. If you were not able to catch them, you missed a awesome concert. Hopefully they will come back soon.

    Chickenfoot was Awesome!

by TRev14 on 8/8/09The Chicago Theatre - Chicago

I think it was really funny when the drummer Chad mooned the audience. I also think Chad is an amazing drummer because of all the tricks he can do with his drum sticks. I enjoyed watching Joe play the guitar especially when he used his tongue. To me Sammy Hagaar is an amazing singer because he has so much enthusiasm in his singing and Michael Anthony was fantastic on bass as usual. I am 11 years old and so far out of all the concerts I have been too Chickenfoot has been the best one!

    Chickenfoot Rocked the ZChicago Theater!!

by Shlim on 8/8/09The Chicago Theatre - Chicago

The short cult status of Chickenfoot is now out of the bag!! The SOLD OUT Chickenfoot concert was unbelievable!! The only thing I would have enjoyed more, was a couple more songs from the Van Hagar days and maybe even a Satriani solo song!! The magnitude of all the members of this band say enough, and the music they play is phenominal!! I can't wait for their next release!!

    Slammin' Good Time

by oyagi on 8/8/09The Chicago Theatre - Chicago

Where to start....... Sammy still wails, Joe is absolutely sick with that guitar, Mike is still laying down his signature back drop, and Chad is insane. This is what Rock n Roll is about Baby!

    Chickenfoot

by DaGeek on 8/8/09The Chicago Theatre - Chicago

Awesome band. Sammys vocals are top knotch and Joe's guitar playing in unbelieveable. The band looked like they were having a great time and the crowd ate them, up. I actually thought they sounded better live than on their CD. Fantastic group. Look forward to a 2nd CD.

    Good, but wanted more

by WJMadison on 8/8/09The Chicago Theatre - Chicago

It's hard for a band of this type to live up to expectations. You don't know what to expect when a band comes together with 4 guys that have been in very successful groups prior. Overall they were solid, but left me wanting a bit more. I was hoping for some solo Satriani, or solo Hagar, or Van Halen. It was all Chickenfoot unti the end. Bad Motor Scooter was a treet and Highway Star was uncepected and excellent. The opening act was great. I never heard of him prior. Davy Knowles kicked butt. I bought his CD at the show I was so impressed. The CD does not do the live exoerince justice. He is a must see live. Overall, I'm glad I went, but it wasn't the best show I've been to.

    un-friggin-believable

by steve1013 on 8/8/09The Chicago Theatre - Chicago

From the moment the big guys hit the stage, it was all nonstop, heart pounding power. From the bass line to the heavy riffs to the drums..i loved every moment of it. These guys are talented by themselves but when you put them all together...watch out. The interaction between them all is fantastic and they even add humor to the stage (especially you Will...ooops I mean Chad...you're nuts). It was so cool to see Michael play his signature Jack Daniels bass guitar. That thing is killer. I would not hesitate for a moment to see them again if these guys come back around..trust me you will not be disappointed. I wasn't.

    Chickenfoot Rocked the Chicago Theatre!

by JohnJammer on 8/8/09The Chicago Theatre - Chicago

I am surprised the Chicago Theatre is still standing after that rocking Chickenfoot show Friday night! The Foot played the album with some neat twists on Bitten by the Wolf, and great jams on Down the Drain, Oh Yeah, and Soap on A Rope. The Foot added some great teasers as well...Hendrix and The Surfaris were briefly jammed with Foxy Lady and WipeOut! The encore was really special with The Foot playing Bad Motor Scooter (Montrose) and Highway Star (Deep Purple). Smokin' Joe sounded even better than one could imagine...unreal guitar licks all night long from the greatest guitarist on the planet! Mike Anthony crushed his bass all night long...even brought out his vintage VH JackDaniels Bass! Smith probably had to go straight to the Chiropractor after his thunderous....hammering chops! Unreal how that guy can power drum like that! Sammy sounded terrific, was really cool to see him break out the Les Paul and jam with Joe and MIkey! Truly a great show that I would see again in a heartbeat. The Foot should film one of their concerts and put it on HDnet or DVD, for fans in cities like St.Louis that did not get the opportunity to see The Foot live. It is a special show by a band of special musicians that made the Grammy winning Rock Album of the year!
