chickenfoot and Blackstone Cherry rocked!
by SA1974 on 6/16/12Beacon Theatre - New YorkWhat a great night at the Beacon Theater!. The opening act Blackstone Cherry although a young band with 3 cds under their belt, played like rock veterans rocking the house with a good mix of songs from their young history even covering an Amy Winehouse song even though I am not a fan of hers. They were really a great warmup to the Headliners. This was the first time I got to see Chickenfoot and they did not disappoint. They played a great array tracks from their 2 cds. Joe Satriani was amazing as usual. Sammy Hagar sounded in top form (no surprise there!). He spoke to the crowd and interacted with his bandmates in such a relaxed manor, you thought you were just hanging out with them in the back yard ( A far cry from the tension that is filled with his previous band). Michael Anthony was his usual solid background singer and bassist providing a solid bottom end along with Chad Smith's tour replacement Kenny Aronoff who did a fantastic job in his stead. They ended the show with a tribute to Sammy's late former bandmate and legendary guitarist Ronnie Montrose with a great version of Rock Candy. I would definitely tell everyone who is a rock and hard rock fan to check out Chickenfoot if they are in your area. You will have a blast!
