About

Chicago, at first dubbed The Chicago Transit Authority, immediately stood out due to their unique, horn-driven instrumentation and top-notch songwriting, a combination that quickly found a home on  free-form FM radio in the late '60s. After 45-plus years in business, Chicago's music has never left the airwaves and the band remains on tour more often than not, playing concerts in every corner of North America. With a catalog of hits  including "Saturday in the Park," "Beginnings," "If You Leave Me Now," "Baby What a Big Surprise," "You're the Inspiration," and "Hard Habit To Break," fans are always eager to snap up tickets to catch one of the most successful American rock bands in history. Four members of the group's current lineup -- vocalist/guitarist/keyboardist Robert Lamm and horn section members Lee Loughnane, James Pankow and Walter Parazaider -- date back to Chicago's formation in 1967. Even today, the band isn't just about nostalgia; Chicago continues to record new singles and albums regularly.

    Awesome!

    by 62Houston on 7/25/12Woodlands Pavilion - Woodlands

Couldn't have been happier with the show. Started right on time with Doobie Bros @ 7:30. After a little more than an hour of great music there was a 30 min break for Chicago to set up. They played till 10. After a very brief break both bands came on stage together and rocked out for another 30 min. taking turns playing their hit songs. It was almost like a battle of the bands and the fans ate it up singing along and dancing along.

We loved every song. The jam session for 45 minutes with The Doobie Brothers at the end was phenomenal.

    The Doobie Brothers and Chicago

by CoachTmac on 7/25/12Woodlands Pavilion - Woodlands

It was a great set of music. It was our first time to the Woodlands and it is setup very well. Easy to move around, as in get to the bathrooms or get more drinks. The groups played very well and the sound was very good; not too much distortion, although it was difficult to hear the guys when they spoke, the singing was very clear. There was not enough time for the groups to play every big hit but I believe the set played was diverse enough to show off their talent.

DoobieBros & Chicago jammin together incredible

by TxTechfan on 7/24/12Woodlands Pavilion - Woodlands

This was one of the best concerts I've been to. Both bands were awesome. They played all the amazing classics and more. The two bands playing together for the last 30 min was fantastic! The only negative is the heat-- Woodlands Pavilion needs to add more fans or something- that venue is way too hot- it limits the # of concerts I'll buy tickets to if they're playing there. Obvious exception was this one. Incredible, amazing, wonderful, so glad we went!

Chicago and Doobie Brothers concert was excellent. Chicago particulary played most of their solid songs, and hit the mark!

The show was "OK". Honestly, I think it's time to think about retirement. The voices just aren't what they used to be. Doobie Brothers came on before Chicago and they were really excellent!

    by Chucky06 on 7/24/12Woodlands Pavilion - Woodlands

I have seen Chicago and the Doobie Bros before and each time seems to be better and better. It was a terrific evening. This is the 4th concert this summer I have seen and by far the best from the sound, stage presentation, lighting and etc. Great Venue and would go see them again tomorrow.

    Doobie Brothers/Chicago Rocks!

by Bayouwill on 7/24/12Woodlands Pavilion - Woodlands

I would see The Doobie or Chicago in a heartbeat again! To have them on the same stage was beyond words. What a great concert and the venue is the best at the Woodlands Pavillion.

    Chicago/Doobie Bros

by RhettButler on 7/24/12Woodlands Pavilion - Woodlands

Chicago with Doobie Bros as opening act exceeded my expectations. The horns were crisp and the vocals were spot on--not bad for a bunch of old rockers. The finale was extraordinary with both Chicago and the Doobies on stage at the same time. The leads took turns singing each others hits. The Chicago drummer--bongo player duel got me right out of my seat

    Fabulous

    by Another50siRocker on 7/24/12Woodlands Pavilion - Woodlands

Great to see the Doobie Brothers over 30 years after seeing them the first time. The quality of the music and vocals was outstanding. We really enjoyed Chicago with their horns and the percussionist were so talented. You could understand all the words and remember the tunes too. Have already recommended this concert to others, old and young. The pavilion was easy to park at and then the walk to the pavilion was beautiful with lighted pathways and grassy areas. We will definitely be attending more concerts like this one.

    Chicago/Doobie Bros

    by Perception77 on 7/24/12Woodlands Pavilion - Woodlands

Both groups have done a great job of keeping current on music and replacements, where needed. There seems to be a liitle more music, to perhaps cover up for the faiding voals from some of the oldtimers, particularly Chicago.

    Good Show

by Cjranger on 7/24/12Woodlands Pavilion - Woodlands

Doobies sounded pretty close to the original - very tight. Played all their favs plus some new(er) songs. Didn't have an encore; which I'll cover in a minute. Played for about an hour. Chicago, on the other hand did not sound remotely the same. The lead singer is good, but has a completely different voice and style from Peter Cetera. Still sounded good though - just different. Played all their favs. Unique encore - both bands joined together on stage and played two each of their hits. Really sounded good.

    Well worth the ticket price

by Faultline on 7/24/12Woodlands Pavilion - Woodlands

Chicago was as good as ever. They demonstrated that they enjoy entertaining. When Chicago and the Doobie Brothers join at the end of the performance, there are 17 on the stage and they sound great while playing and singing some of their very best songs. When the Doobie Brothers started the night, they began right on time. The first half of their segment did not include as many of their oldie but goodies as I had wanted. That was the only disappointing part of the evening which started at 730pm and ended around 1050pm with a 15-20 minute intermission. Not a dull moment.
