About

Chicago, at first dubbed The Chicago Transit Authority, immediately stood out due to their unique, horn-driven instrumentation and top-notch songwriting, a combination that quickly found a home on  free-form FM radio in the late '60s. After 45-plus years in business, Chicago's music has never left the airwaves and the band remains on tour more often than not, playing concerts in every corner of North America. With a catalog of hits  including "Saturday in the Park," "Beginnings," "If You Leave Me Now," "Baby What a Big Surprise," "You're the Inspiration," and "Hard Habit To Break," fans are always eager to snap up tickets to catch one of the most successful American rock bands in history. Four members of the group's current lineup -- vocalist/guitarist/keyboardist Robert Lamm and horn section members Lee Loughnane, James Pankow and Walter Parazaider -- date back to Chicago's formation in 1967. Even today, the band isn't just about nostalgia; Chicago continues to record new singles and albums regularly.

    Chicago and Doobies ROCK!

by PamfromAshley on 7/29/12Celeste Center - Columbus

The great thing about seeing bands like Chicago and Doobie Brothers are that they are seasoned performers who know how to entertain. The pacing, energy and musicianship was unsurpassed! A show I won't forget!

It was soooooooooo good to hear the Doobie Brothers. They sounded great! I had goose bumps the whole time they were playing. The drum solo during Chicago was fantastic. The show brought back some great memories for both me and my wife.

Took my teenage son. The bands played nearly 3 hours and the combined encore with both bands was the best ever. The bands truly appreciate their fans.

    Awesome concert !!!

by Calliecoekid on 7/29/12Celeste Center - Columbus

We went to see the Doobie Brothers and Chicago at the Ohio State Fair and they put on one of the best (if not the best) show I've ever seen. The Doobies Brothers were on stage first and they just kept playing hit after hit and their harmonies and music sounded just like it did 40 years ago. Then Chicago took the stage and they were the same way and were so energetic you forgot how old some of those guys up there playing have to be ;) But when they both took the stage at the end of the show and played like 6 songs together it just took it to another level !! They also looked like they were having a lot of fun doing it and their egos were not getting in the way:) I loved that concert and didn't want it to end!!!!!

    AMAZING concert!

    by lilcat19 on 7/29/12Celeste Center - Columbus

This concert was one of the best concerts I have ever seen, and I have seen many different concerts. Chicago was unbelievable. I wasn't sure if I would like The Doobie Brothers, but I thoroughly enjoyed their part of the show. They sounded great! Their harmonies were perfect. Chicago started out with "Make Me Smile" and Lou Pardini got the concert rolling. Pardini and Jason Scheff sounded great during "Dialogue I and II" and every song to follow. They played all of their hits including but not limited to "Hard to Say I'm Sorry", "Saturday in the Park", "Feeling Stronger Everyday", and "Beginnings". Robert Lamm, who also sounded amazing, pulled out the guitar for "Beginnings", and it was one of the best parts of the night. The show ended with both Chicago and The Doobie Bros on stage performing the final 6 (I think) songs together (3 from each band). The last song of the night 25 or 6 to 4 was a perfect ending to an already perfect night. My only criticism would have been having someone else sing "If You Leave Me Now". I know that they raise a lot of money for charity by having people try to be the person singing, but for me, that is one of my favorite songs and not hearing Scheff sing it was kind of a let down. I forgot when they played that so it isnt in the setlist. Also, I really wanted to hear "Question 67 and 68", but that is just being picky. Overall, I would give my left kidney to see Chicago again, it was an amazing show!

    Rock on!

by Gablefan on 7/29/12Celeste Center - Columbus

This was the most fun I've had at a concert for quite a while. While the audience was mostly middle-aged, there were all ages there. The Doobie Brothers went first, and sounded terrific. It took the crowd a while to get into it, but once they did, folks were dancing in the aisles. Then Chicago took the stage, and while they do sound a little different without Peter Cetera, they were good as well. The last part, with both bands playing some of their biggest hits together, was itself worth the price of admission. A great time was had by all!

    Dial Up the Wayback Machine!

by NidanMomma on 7/29/12Celeste Center - Columbus

The Doobies... WOW!!! They were as great as they were in 1975 at Blossom Music Center in Cuyahoga Falls, OH! They really brought down this house with the crowd of middle aged cronies of mine. Their harmonies were as beautiful as always and Tom Johnston, Pat Simmons, and John McFee (who was new to me, but apparently not to them and is an incredibly accomplished musician with great versatility) really displayed their musicianship with aplomb. The other guys were great, too, but I want to particularly tip my hat to the "originals". The set started with "Jesus is Just Alright with Me", which always gave me pause... Jesus is "alright" as in "ok" or "ALRIGHT!"? In either case, what a great song to start out getting the crowd caught up in a frenzy of delight. The set was a really good mix of fast and slow songs, acoustic and electric. My only regret was that the set was short to allow for Chicago to come on. I could have done without Chicago (well, to be honest we left when Chicago came on stage) and just gone with an entire Doobies concert. There were so many more great songs they could have played, but I'm sure they had to limit their set list. Never was a big Chicago fan and unfortunately that doesn't seem to have changed.

    Best Live Concert-EVER!

by CindyWI on 7/29/12Celeste Center - Columbus

Doobie Brothers opened and warmed up the crowd- turned out to be an Awesome Concert on its own. Chicago followed after a short intermission with a terrific playlist of their greatest hits. Their voices were amazing and their musicianship was outstanding. These guys know how to put on a live concert! The finale was fantastic- resembling a battle of the bands greatest hits. Simply put - a TOTALLY AMAZING CONCERT!

    Best concert in years

    by katt10 on 7/29/12Celeste Center - Columbus

After the Doobies opened, Chicago had a lot to live up to! Doobies still at the top of their game, instrumentals and vocals excellent. Chicago horn section still rocks. Vocals were a little light but their songs raise emotions with many. The highlight was the finale when all 16 performers were on stage switching off between D and C tunes!
