    A real Chicago experience!

by NCWis on 5/7/11The Chicago Theatre Downstairs - Chicago

This was a full hour featuring a variety of Chicago personalities and experiences. A short "taste" of interviews, entertainment, & personalities that was great! It moved along quickly!

A very enjoyable hour of entertainment. Had a group of 5 adults ranging from 23 to 64 and all found most of the hour delightful. A good way to start a fun evening.

The show was fast paced, witty, full of talent and intellect. My sister-in-law and I loved it and would go again in a heartbeat.

    Don't miss Chicago Live

by Anonymous on 2/26/11The Chicago Theatre Downstairs - Chicago

I titled my review Don't miss Chicago Live because I ended up having to miss the program. I saw Jennifer Weiglel's behind the scenes video and it made me even sadder I had to miss it. It looked great. I can't wait to hear the podcast. I'll try to go again sometime when things slow down.

    Chicago Live- Michelin show

by whataband on 12/2/10The Chicago Theatre Downstairs - Chicago

Fun 1 hour. Several interviews, but they seemed hurried and interviewers seemed unprepared, so went for "sound bite" questions w/ sound bite answers. Maybe a few less segments but a little more thoughtful- this was more Access Hollywood than Charlie Rose. Nice feature at the end was a cocktail, meet and mingle, but a lot of the guests bolted, so it would of been nice if the Michelin folks and some of the other chefs had hung around. Anyway, chalk it up to "experimental theater", I would certainly try a few other shows in the future. Also, for a similar, "free" experience, try the Interview show at the Hideout Bar, first Friday of every month.

    Thoroughly Enjoyabe

by knits4kix on 11/13/10The Chicago Theatre Downstairs - Chicago

This was the first Chicago Live event my husband and I attended. We enjoyed the diversity of the talent presented from a rapper to a countertenor currently singing at the Lyric Opera House. Enjoyed the Amy Guth interview of Scott Turrow. Greg Proops from Who's Line is it Anyway was very funny. Second City tidbits were perfect interludes to the informal interviews. Rick Kogan is fabulous as emcee. Would definitely return.

Chicago Live! is a great show if you are visiting Chicago or live in the city. It celebrates the people and events of the city using a unique blend of humor and seriousness. I enjoyed every aspect of the performance and was even able to mingle with the guests, Tribune personalities and Second City performers after the show. The Downstairs Theatre at the historic Chicago Theatre is quaint while still giving off that exclusive, VIP vibe. I loved Chicago Live! and plan to go to another show as soon as possible.
