The tour was very good The river is beautiful and the buildings spectacular The docent was knowledgeable but her delivery quite dry After 90 minutes, people were nodding off
We loved everything about this tour! The narrator is a volunteer and you could tell he truly enjoys sharing his love of the history of Chicago and it’s glorious architecture.
Our first trip to Chicago and this is a must!!! Absolutely amazing to see all the buildings close up and to learn the history of them all. My husband and I loved the tour. When we go back we will do it again!
There were many loud people on the boat who talked through the whole docent presentation so we couldn't hear most of it. The docent, while good with her material, did not ask people to be quiet so that others could hear. It was a disappointment since we had brought out of town guests as our guests but all they heard was a lot of noisy rude people which didn't show off Chicago to advantage at all.
The tour was done by a volunteer who was very passionate about Chicago’s architecture and history! Will be going this again
We went on Saturday with 6 friends. The docent was fantastic and it was definitely the highlight of our trip to Chicago.
Our docent was simply the best! He was eloquent, incredibly knowledgeable, warm and funny. His intelligence and love of the city was obvious and made the amazing skyline tour even more enjoyable. It was the highlight of our visit.
Overall a lovely tour with interesting information that kept one riveted in their seat. When there was a break to view the skyline; the restrooms were locked. When we finally reached the dock we were directed to restrooms down the river that required a code, we were not informed.
Luckily we had a glorious day and our docent Mitzi shared her knowledge beautifully. There Isn’t a bad seat to be had and while I didn’t imbibe there is a full bar aboard. All in all, a thoroughly enjoyable Chicago activity.
We took relatives who were in Chicago for the first time on this tour. It was a perfect way for them to see the heart of the city. Cynthia, our docent, was very knowledgeable and engaging.
The only complaint is the presenter of the information talking way too fast for a foreigner to understand!!! I am not sure if something could be done about it, there are way too many buildings that he is talking about in too short of a time. Otherwise, a very good tour.

The cruise is very well scripted. There is a full service bar to enhance the experience. You will see some of the most unique buildings, hear about their history and future plans, and take some amazing pictures.
There was a group of 100+ people from a convention on the tour. They could care less about the speaker and talked loudly in groups all over the boat. We moved several times to avoid the noise and finally found the front of the boat was the quietest we could get. They should really not allow large groups and general public on the same boats. They were on a booze cruise and we wanted to hear about the history and architecture. Could have been better.
We enjoyed the 7:30 pm sunset cruise. “Mark” was our Docent - one of the best my husband and I have ever had for any travel tour anywhere. The trip was full of history and fun facts and Mark knew them all. Comfortable amenities. Highly recommend this trip.
Wonderful way to see the city and learn more about the architecture. Really glad we did this. The volunteer guide was great. Was also pleasantly surprised to find that they had refreshments on board for purchase, so we got to do the tour with a drink in our hand. The only thing that was difficult was that it was the middle of a very hot day and the outdoor seating was not shaded at all - they can't control the weather though! There's an air conditioned interior cabin you can also go into if you get too hot, but make sure to bring sunscreen and drink plenty of water on hot days.

The Architecture Foundation River Cruise was the highlight of our time in downtown Chicago. The views you get from the river beat anything you can get on the street. And the guide provided so many details about the buildings and the people who built them, it was fascinating. You get a whole different perspective on the city of Chicago.
100% would recommend this tour. It was a fantastic boat ride and Jessica was an expert guide! I doubt you get this level of knowledge and expertise from another company.
