About

CHERUB IN CONCERT:

Combining sleek electro-funk, romantic falsettos, and clever lyrical wordplay, Cherub's wry songs about dating and clubbing are the stuff that dance parties are made of. The only thing these guys take seriously is having fun, and that's exactly what they do at their live shows, hyping up the crowd with their infectious energy and swaggering showmanship. Fans couldn't help but bust a move to synth-heavy bangers like "Jazzercise '95" and "XOXO" on the band's 2013 tour, and with another round of shows in 2014 they'll have the opportunity to do it all again.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Tennessee-based Cherub is the brainchild of singer Jordan Kelley and guitarist Jason Huber, formed in 2010 with an eye towards updating the sounds of their funk idols like Prince and Zapp and Roger. The duo's digital debut album Man of the Hour was an underground hit, resulting in shows across the US and paving the way for polished 2012 follow-up "Mom and Dad." As tracks like "Doses and Mimosas" reverberated across the blogosphere, the band saw their reputation as a live act grow with performances at Bonnaroo and SXSW. With the release of the 100 Bottles EP in 2013, Cherub achieved their most infectious collection of songs yet, building excitement among dance-ready fans for their 2014 tour dates.

  • amazing performance. less than desirable crowd

Terminal 5 can have a range of crowds, but this one was particularly young. unbearably so. when girls wear cutoff jorts, in NYC, in January, something has gone terribly wrong. Couldn't even stay the whole show to hear my favorite of Cherubs shows because I thought i was babysitting.

To be frank, I only went for Mystery Skulls. Left soon after Cherub started.

Super great time, amazing venue. Cherub was awesome and they played an amazing show at Big Sky in Buckhead afterwards

  • OMG

by Jazzzzzzxx on 1/20/15Buckhead Theatre - AtlantaRating: 5 out of 5

Cherub was unbelievable! It was the best concert I've ever been to. The vibe that the whole concert hall had was unforgettable. I want to go back so bad and I want to relive every moment again. The opening acts were the only thing that were a little disappointing We waited 3 hours

  • Cherub was amazing

    by KateKat226 on 1/20/15Buckhead Theatre - AtlantaRating: 5 out of 5

The band was amazing! Although they started a little later than I expected, their music made up for it. They played perfectly and added that special live factor that should come with concerts. They had a great stage presence too! I would definitely see them again. The venue was great, too. It was kind of small but still comfortable with a sold out show. I wouldn't hesitate to attend another show at the Buckhead Theater.

  • Best time I've had in a while

This show was awesome! Everyone was great. ForteBowie, Mystery Skulls and Cherub rocked the house, giving me just the party I needed that night. Go see them and enjoy!

Cherub and Mystery Skulls were great, they kept the lights pretty bright during Cherub's half of the show though... little odd

  • Cherub concert was exciting and fun

by TrevorPhillips on 1/20/15Buckhead Theatre - AtlantaRating: 5 out of 5

I really liked the venue at Buckhead Theater. Cherub was really fun and blew me away with his guitar effects and skill. Jason even crowd surfed which was awesome. I would definitely go back again. Only downfall is that the people around us kind of sucked but you can't really help that. 5 stars

Both the performance and the venue were fantastic!

  • Buckhead theater ruined an awesome show

    by Guest1234458 on 1/20/15Buckhead Theatre - AtlantaRating: 1 out of 5

Due to poor design, the sound engineer has a booth behind the main speakers back stage, whic means he doesn't get an accurate feel for how the music is for the crowd. He ruined the entire show. Cherub sounded better than the openers because the sound guy made it so you couldn't hear the mic mids or treble. Only an indistinguishable bass. I knew one of the opening acts and I could hardly understand the songs I already knew. I talked with management after but they only want to blame everyone else but themselves who are ACTUALLY responsible and should be proactive about a solution. NEVER go see a show at the buckhead theater. This place was much better when it was the Roxy, and is now easily the worst venue I've ever been to.

It was a smaller event than I'm used to, which made it more intimate. Cherub had amazing stage presence and killed it up there!

  • Cherub, Ghost Beach, and Gibbz.= Awesome

I bought the tickets for my sons 22nd birthday and he said it was amazing - he had the best time and Cherub was the "bomb". Thx Cherub for making my sons birthday memorable!

  • Great show, great venue

by ChipBlock20 on 10/9/14Port City Music Hall - PortlandRating: 4 out of 5

I'm from Chicago, on vacation in Portland. Small and intimate venue made the show incredible. The acoustics were fantastic and the crowd was digging it.

  • Cherub was funkyfre$h- w/ Gibbz & Ghost Beach

by Brando0o0o on 10/5/14Port City Music Hall - PortlandRating: 5 out of 5

Gibbz opened up with a great set to get the night going ...some killer vocals and beats. Ghost Beach followed with some funky - electro/80s style twist setting up the main act. Cherub on the Champagne Showers Tour put on a killer show..playing a mix of jams from older albums and EPs and new tracks that made for an Epic show. Jason and Jordan met with the fans after the show and even made time to chill with some homies and get irie before continuing the tour. Port City Music Hall was a good venue but security took job a little serious. Overall great show. Hope Cherub comes back to maine soon so we can show them a better time after in the Old Port.
