Charlotte Cardin In Concert
Canadian singer-songwriter Charlotte Cardin's sultry voice, unflinching lyrics, and brooding blend of pop, jazz, R&B, and electronica are making her a hot ticket on the touring circuit. But the willowy Québéc-bred talent was already turning heads before devoting herself to a career in music.
Born in Montreal in 1994, Cardin was a successful fashion model while still in high school. A singer throughout her life, she began writing songs as a teenager. In 2013, Cardin's passion and talent landed her a chance to compete on La Voix (the French-Canadian equivalent of TV's The Voice). She covered Amy Winehouse's "You Know I'm No Good," easily evoking the late British diva, and came in fourth place.
Her experience in the limelight encouraged Cardin to set aside her medical studies and pursue music as a career. After a few years of writing, vocal practice, and development of her unique personal style, Cardin released the EP Big Boy in 2016 and followed it a year later with the full album Main Girl, which added new songs to her EP's French and English tracks. This heady mix of brooding tunes and sophisticated electro-pop earned her Juno Award nominations for both Breakthrough Artist and Songwriter of the Year. Shot in Iceland, the emotionally wrenching "Main Girl" video has been viewed more than 10 million times.
Comfortable in front of both cameras and audiences, Cardin started touring seriously in 2016. She visited the United States with singer-songwriter Nick Murphy (formerly Chet Faker) and played sold-out shows supporting the gender-bending singer Børns.
Cardin's songs draw more from observation than from personal experience, she says, but she obviously has a knack for conveying the exquisite agony of unattainable love. Haunting tracks like "Dirty Dirty," "Big Boy," and "Like It Doesn't Hurt" (which includes a cameo from Montreal rapper Husser) escape pop pigeonholing entirely while still delivering memorable hooks. A talent to watch, Charlotte Cardin is more than ready for her close-up.
Fantastic show, seeing Charlotte Cardin live is a must. Her voice and stage presence, my word. Always a spectacular performance.
Charlotte oozes with cool, and the crowd absolutely loved her. It was an incredible performance and I will definitely go back to see her again when she comes to Toronto again. Highly recommend!
Charlotte Cardin puts on an amazing show. She does not disappoint, although she could have played for another 2 hours and it would still not be enough. Such talent!
Charlotte was amazing. However, her lighting tech should be hung, drawn and quartered. The strobe lights were constantly pointed directly at us. I almost left before the second song. There was absolutely no respect for the crowd in the upper levels.
It was amazing!!! Charlotte is a young, beautiful, and talented woman !!! I am happy to have been able to go see her. What an inspiration she is to many!!!
Amazing show- Charlotte sounds exactly the same in person as she does in her records. Amazing performer and very talented songstress. I highly recommend seeing her live if you ever get the chance. 10/10!!! I was so excited to see her and I left the show with the biggest smile on my face and an extra skip in my step.
It was a very good concert, I really didn't know Charlotte's music. My daughter was suppose to go with her boyfriend but she got super sick. So I went so I could get her a shirt and a super awesome autograph album. I stayed and enjoyed the show.
I had an incredible night. Charlotte’s vocal range is impressive and she belts out songs like a machine. I cried, I laughed, I smiled. She did every single one of my favorite songs and made us feel part of the show. I highly recommend!
Blew me away! She sounds better irl than on either the vinyl or digital album which I didn't know was possible. So freaking good! xoxo
I went to this concert expecting to just have a great night out with my daughter. Charlotte’s voice was beyond anything I expected. I was in complete awe of her talent live. Would highly suggest to any age to see her perform.
