Great Artist, Not so Great Venue
by KW on 7/10/23Charlie Puth as an artist and performer, truly is amazing. Despite this, I do feel that this venue perhaps was not the best for this type of concert. I was seated on the lawn with an angled side view. Most of the stage pillars were in the way, but I had a pretty good view from straight on when Charlie Puth was not standing at the very front of the stage. However, as soon as the concert started, everyone rushed from out of nowhere to stand at the gate barrier. They had no regard for everyone else who were sitting, as we were instructed to do so, and had already been sitting for hours. Waiting patiently to see their favorite artist. Not only did this crowd of people have no regard for blocking other's views, but they had no awareness of their surroundings. Constantly stepping on people and their personal belongs, knocking over their food or drink. The venue security could see this going on, but the did not do much for enforcement the rules of "sitting only". The only rule they did enforce was that tall chairs must be placed in the back rows of the lawn. Not that it really mattered, considering the view was blocked anyways. This resulted a group of rowdy and intoxicated people to run back and forth in front of where my group was sitting. We notified the event staff, and they did ask the particulsr group to leave the area. However this eventually lead to just one of the intoxicated men to stand directly in front of us, only 2 fewt away. When we asked him to move, he turned around and was very a angry. He told my group and I some very aggressive and explicit comments. Comments that the children sitting around us could clearly hear, and were visibility upset. My group and I spend the rest of the concert feeling a little aggravated and worried that we would run into that same man again. It caused to leave the concert early and put a distant between us and the rest of the crowd.
