About

Chadwick Stokes is an accomplished musician and songwriter who grew up on a small farm outside of Boston. A songwriter since early adolescence, his many projects have woven together music, art, history, and activism. From Dispatch, which he started in his early 20s; to his politically driven band, State Radio; to his nascent solo project, Chadwick Stokes and the Pintos, Chad has committed himself to use music as a vehicle for social and political change. Along with his wife, Sybil, he founded Calling All Crows, a non-profit organization dedicated to engaging music fans around women's issues both at home and abroad. They've worked to bring awareness to the worldwide refugee crisis, the proliferation of violence against women, and the persistence of sexual violence within the music industry. Through his many years of working independently within what can be a difficult industry, Chadwick has been continually motivated by his love of music and the people he makes it with.

Purchased the VIP tickets with a friend. We are both big fans of Dispatch, State Radio, and Chad's solo stuff so we were down to pay some extra money. With that said, we were not disappointed. The small acoustic show that came as a part of the VIP tickets was awesome. Chad played three unrecorded songs about 10 feet from us. The show in total was definitely a feel good moment for us both. The crowd was very into the show regardless of whether Chad was playing old classics like Bang Bang or new ones from his solo album like Pine Needle Tea. Awesome night.

Chad is always a crowd pleaser!

by MM114MM on 12/19/16Paradise Rock Club - Boston

Chad never disappoints. He sang a great mix of old and new songs. The crowd was singing and dancing throughout the entire show. I love that he featured some family members and friends! Venue staff also helped to make it a fun show.

Chadwick Stokes never disappoints. He played an intimate set, talked with the crowd, and played his solo work, state radio, and dispatch. The openers were great as well.

Best concert in a long time.

by CompletelyStoked on 2/28/15Port City Music Hall - Portland

Port City Music Hall was completely impressive. My first time there and I loved every part of it. The intimacy, the sound quality, and the bar were all equally great. The preferred seating area was the perfect place to be. Chadwick Stokes is amazing. His voice takes me to another place. The stripped down version of some of our favorite Dispatch songs combined with the lyrical genius of his solo songs made for the perfect concert experience.

Chadwick Stokes performed a top notch show

by Allyshia on 12/8/14Bowery Ballroom - New York

Phenomenal performance ; I laughed, I cried, and raucously belted along with the crowd. It was by far the best show I have ever been to. Chadwick is a beautiful individual as he is artist and I wish more artists would follow example and bring such passion to stage, along with bringing important issues to the stage; his songs are full of events and issues of both justices and injustices around the nation and the world. I have a degree in International Peace and Conflict Resolution. I also have a background of playing in jazz and ska bands. He takes my two loves and fuzes them into songs and movement that push forth the pulse of my heart. There is so much violence, so much injustice- so much silence- in our world. Chadwick is making constructive changes happen, and we would do well to follow forth.

    Chadwick Stokes; activist, genius musician

by Bry06 on 12/24/13Paradise Rock Club - Boston

Chadwick Stokes (of Dispatch and State Radio) abounds with positive energy and loves his fans. The whole place was singing all of the songs with him. He put on a great show with old and new songs and then the grand finale ending was amazing.

Chadwick Stokes was great - solid number of throwback songs. Very, very fun! Plus the 92.9 tie in with the charity event was a nice touch.

The show was fantastic, great music, amazing lyrics, The Pintos are all great musicians and clearly love their work together. Will's backup vocals for his brother and his horn playing were wonderful additions. Here's hoping that we will see a whole lot more of them!

This show was so good; chad played songs from dispatch, state radio, and his new solo cd. The pintos were great as well and white buffalo even came out for a song. All i'm looking for now is a recording

    Amazing Show!

by JainaMac on 10/4/11Chameleon Club - Lancaster

I've seen Dispatch and State Radio live and I was really looking forward to seeing Chad on his solo tour because I love the album he put out. This show was incredible. It was the last night of the tour so they were going all out. Chad interspersed songs from Dispatch and State Radio with his new album. He started out by himself on stage and did Keepsake, my FAVORITE song from State Radio, and Bang Bang from Dispatch. Then he called the rest of his band out to do songs from his album. He said that he was losing his voice, and you could hear it when he talked, but his singing was not affected at all. He sounded awesome and he was really enjoying that the crowd almost knew every word to his songs. I will go see his shows, whether it's Dispatch, State Radio, or just him, whenever he is playing anywhere near me. He is so good live it's unbelievable.

    great show

    by kel400 on 10/4/118x10 - Baltimore

the best thing about 8x10 is how small it is. from the back you still have a front row seat. chad sounded great, he was interactive with the crowd, and the set list provided a little from his other bands, with a focus on the new album (which is great btw). definitely one of the better chadwick shows i've seen. jake from white buffalo was amazing. his vocals were spot on, and his sound is reminescent of seether/seven mary 3/eddie vedder. this was really a show not to be missed. high five.

This was my 18th time seeing Chetro live, either as part of State Radio, Dispatch, or by himself, and the man never disappoints. He is a truly gifted performer, and one of the greatest lyricists of the last 50 years. Lyrcially he's up there with people like Elton John, John Lennon, etc. He hasn't, and likely won't ever, garner the same fame and attention, but he is supremely talented when it comes to writing lyrics.

Chad Stokes is one of the best Artists ever!

by Imsoobuffy on 10/3/11Chameleon Club - Lancaster

Chad and the Pintos and White Buffalo were fantastic! I've loved Dispatch for the past ten years and Chad is one of the hardest people working in the music industry without ever being consumed by it. He speaks truth with complete sincerity and artistry. I can't think of another band, artist or person who deserves all the praise in the world. Keep rocking on and please come back to the MD area again soon! I was absolutely blown away which is pretty much usual when Chad Stokes is on the stage!

You guys know who this is, right?

    by Stoked4Stokes on 9/29/11The Basement - Columbus

Certainly a small, intimate venue, but I did not expect to be able to sit twenty feet from a man that sold out Madison Square three nights in a row. I would be surprised if there were more than fifty people there. Absolutely an awesome show from beginning to end and worth the 200 mile drive...(anytime you want to stop by northern Indiana you are welcome, Chad). See Stokes and White Buffalo any chance you can.
