About

CF Montréal History

CF Montréal (formerly known as Montréal Impact) joined Major League Soccer as an expansion franchise in 2012, becoming the league's third Canadian team. For much of the team's existence, the centerpiece of its attack was MLS All-Star midfielder Ignacio “Nacho” Piatti, who was later joined by fellow All-Star Didier Drogba.

In 2015, the duo of Piatti and Drogba combined for 24 goals and led Montréal to the club's best season. Drogba recorded three of those goals in his debut with the club, a victory over the Chicago Fire. CF Montréal finished third in the Eastern Conference that year and advanced to the CONCACAF Champions League Final. They were the second MLS team — and first Canadian team — to do so. Since entering the MLS, CF Montréal have collected four Voyageurs Cup trophies at the annual Canadian Championship.

    Montreal Impact was amazing!

by CoachChrisVT on 3/19/12Olympic Stadium - Stade Olympique - Montreal

This was an amazing event. I took my daughter and father-in-law to the game. We had tickets in the family section. This is dirrectly opposite from the announcers booth. The view was great and the area had only 4 rows deep so it seamed like a very intimate setting. I strongly recommend that if you love soccer and so do your kids, this was a fantastic experience. I can't wait for my next opportunity!

Great game by two decent teams...and what a crowd

by VermonterFromNYC on 3/19/12Olympic Stadium - Stade Olympique - Montreal

If you've ever tried to get in and out of Foxboro after a Rev game, you should make the trip to Montreal to see the Impact while they're playing at Olympic Stadium. 58,000+ to see a good match and it was impossibly easy to get in and out. No delays.

    History in progess

by Migs78 on 3/19/12Olympic Stadium - Stade Olympique - Montreal

The game marked the first ever home game in MLS for the Impact. More than 59000 fans attended the game. The team has a solid foundation, plus 2 italian ex-serieA players to help the team grow. All in all, a very positive experience.
