Talk about true professionals. Cecilio and Kapono got out there and played a solid two hours plus, connecting with and entertaining the crowd. They played most of the classic favorites along with newer work and some covers. Best of all, their singing voices have not changed since 1973.
What can you say about C & K, they had no starter band (no need) and played all the way through at full energy with no breaks and two standing ovation songs. They encouraged the audience to sing along and got the audience pumped. Their Aloha spirit shone through and they seemed to have brought the warm weather of the hawaiian islands with them, as in, the night sky was clear and bright and warm and enchanting.
Humphreys is the best venue possible to see a show! C & K are a perfect example. I think this is our 4th time seeing them there and each time is better.

Great concert, great setting and wonderful crowd of nice people...I hope that C and K will return to Humphreys next summer!
The show was great. What memories were brought back. The involvement of the audience and the light humor really made the show a step a head of others. I will be looking forward to seeing them the next time they come to Portland. Thanks C&K.
Cecelio & Kapona were as good as ever. Seen them 10-12 times from Honolulu, San Diego, Lodi, San Francisco and Portland.
C&K is one of the legendary groups in Hawaiian music. Celebrating 38 years of music together, every song they played at the concert was a hit at one time or another, and that speaks volumes. Not only did the song selection raise feelings of nostalgia in long-time listeners, bringing back memories of by-gone days, but it was a great first-taste for new listeners, hopefully selling them on C&K's talent as the last chord was struck on their guitars to end the night.
After seeing C&K several times with their backup band, this was the first time I have seen them perform as just a duet, without the full band. When they came out on stage without the backup band setup, I was a little worried, thinking that it would be a scaled down show. However, this ended up being my favorite performance of theirs. As much as I enjoy drums, bass, keys, percussion, etc., the absence of a backup band gave a totally different perspective on C&K's music. It allowed the talent of these two musicians/vocalists to really shine through, without losing any of the excitement of a full-band experience. In fact, it ended up being even more exciting just focusing on the two of them. Ceclio is an extremely talented guitar player, and this is sometimes lost in their full-band performances. In this set, his guitar playing was front and center of the performance. The vocal harmonies were outstanding, and the acoustics were excellent and clear. They performed for a full 2.5 hours, and the two opening acts were excellent, making the entire 3.5 hour show a bargain at the reasonable ticket price. All in all a truly memorable performance by Cecilio and Kapono.
Well worth the 4 hours I drove and the standing in line. Concert went to 12:30am, C&K played all the songs I remembered and loved. I wish the concert started earlier. They haven't missed a beat they were better than the last time I saw them in 1975 at the Waikiki Shell.
Having seen C & K several times while I lived in Honolulu in the early 90's, I am a loyal fan, but this show outdid all others. Their chemistry and connection after all these years was tight. I would go again tonight if I could.
C&K sounded so amazingly good. we loved the entire show and can't wait to see and hear them again. We are so glad it was just them and lights! They sound so good we were happy a band didn't drown them out. They sang for 2hours and came back for two encores!
Would not have had a halau start prior to Lana'i the comedian, then the Cecilio and Kapono band. Comedian alone would have been enough. As it was, doors opened at 8 p.m., C&K did not start till 10:30 p.m. or so, thus making a long night especially for those of us who showed up around 7 p.m. to get good seats for general admission seating. Halau was average to poor................"no class".
Loved the concert and venue. I know C&K are popular in Hawaii and we would have been up against thousands. I like this was a smaller audience and felt able to interact more w/the singers. Also, the Halau and comedian were fantastic as well!
I know the average age of the crowd was 45-55 but hell it was still wonderful after all these years. You can close your eyes and feel young again! C & K are two very talented musicians and always a pleasure to watch.
On Friday night of the C & K concert it was unforgetable. Thank you for the outstanding performance and still playing music for your fans. The Halau was excellent and perfect to start the evening. I could not get enough laughs of Lanai Tabura. Thank you also for a great a time.
I have seen them twice. After the first time I swore when they came back I wouldn't miss it. They play so well together. So in tune. We are in Hawaii now & felt it was a great prelude to our vacation. I would recommend them to everyone.
Great music, great crowd (for a bunch of old people), nice venue! Loved getting up close and personal.
Two amazingly gifted Musicians. It is truly Unreal the amount of music those two people can generate! They sing in Perfect harmony, and their voices blend so well they sound like one voice....and with two guitars and no drums, they made you feel like moving, and singing along!
I've been a C&K fan pretty much my whole life, I see them about every 10 years! This show was the best I've been to! The Coach House has a very small "Home" feeling environment! The environment, location, and DA BAND C&K made this one of the best nights of my life!!!
