Carolina Hurricanes History
The Carolina Hurricanes were established in Raleigh in 1997 after relocating from Hartford, Connecticut, where the National Hockey League franchise was originally founded in 1979. Since their arrival in North Carolina, the Hurricanes have made the playoffs ten times, captured six division championships, two Eastern Conference titles and the 2006 Stanley Cup Championship.
The team also hosted the 2004 NHL Draft and the 2011 NHL All-Star Game at PNC Arena, where they play their home games. When the Hurricanes made the playoffs in 2001, against the defending Stanley Cup Champions New Jersey Devils, they lost the series but came back from a 3-0 deficit to force a sixth game — marking what many believed to be the start of real hockey in the Research Triangle.
The 2005-2006 season marked the best in the Hurricanes' history, as the team finished with 112 points, beating the previous franchise-best record of 94 points. They ended up beating the Edmonton Oilers in the Stanley Cup Final, marking the first time in NHL history that two former World Hockey Association teams faced off in the Final.

I love attending the Canes games, it’s always SO MUCH FUN!
We have an amazing time…everyone at the PNC Arena were kind and very accommodating. The Hurricanes winning was a BIG plus!!
The venue is great, Canes are a fun team to watch. But $40 to park half a mile away is ridiculous. And getting out of there is a circus, traffic direction is inept at best.
This was a Christmas gift for our family. We got some swag, let the kids open it up and told them we were going. Parking was easy and there was lots to do when we got through security and ticketing. Loaded fries, pizza, and wings were great. The Hurricanes won and a player got a Hat Trick so people threw hats out on the ice. The crowd was so excited! Afterward my daughter was dancing through the parking lots chanting and celebrating the win and my son was talking non-stop about the goals and players. Getting out of the parking lot took some time but cars let you in and the guys directing traffic seemed to know what they were doing. It was definitely more expensive than I thought but it was worth it!
Great venue. Great game. Exiting lot a little confusing!
Over great venue. The only complaint I would have is seat size. I’m not a real big guy, but I have broad shoulders. Couple that with guys either side and it’s tight. I usually try to get aisle seats. But overall great experience. I’ll definitely go to another game here.
Got there middle way first period due to weather and traffic. Game was a birthday ritual for my son and his wife. Wish the Hurricanes had won, but we did get to see our first shootout.
The entire experience at the arena was killer! Great music and entertainment all night long when there were breaks from the high speed intense hockey action! Great seating, great lighting, great vendors throughout the arena, this was a mountain-top experience. I cannot recommend it highly enough!!
Went to the Canes vs Sabers game Saturday night. What a great game! A little expensive. Highly recommend the pay in advance parking. Saved $13.
Had a great experience. Professional and nice people. Rating would be higher but the seats in the upper area are way too small.
Music was so loud I couldn’t talk to anyone! It doesn’t need to be that loud 😡😡
Easy in, easy out...comfortable seats...flavorful concessions...entertaining play...PERFECT NIGHT
Parking $40. I can park at a Durham Bulls came for $7.
The Canes are a good team, but the PA announcer should be fired, he is absolutely bush league. If they want to be seen as a professional hockey town, they should learn from PA announcers in Detroit, Toronto, New York and Tampa Bay. When the visiting team scores it’s impossible to pick up who scored, when the Canes scores it’s the opposite. Show some respect, this is not bush league. I have attended more than 500 NHL games is 26 cities, Raleigh is by far the worst, $40 for parking, insufficient leg space and a PA announcer from the movie Slap Shots
Had a blast and we beat the penguins! All the workers and staff are always friendly. Will always attend when possible!
I got these tickets for my friends birthday who is a huge fan. The arena and the food was great. However, the parking situation was bad. It took us forever to get to the arena since every street was blocked off... and there was no real signage for the Lyft and Uber drivers to pick up their passengers. No one seemed to know where drop off was and passengers were waiting close to an hour to leave the arena. All the traffic controllers made it worse. Sadly... The parking situation was enough to sour the experience for me. I have to think twice about coming again
Hurricanes games are a blast. Movement around the arena is easy, the team is solid, the non-hockey spectacles are entertaining (pre-game, between plays, etc.), and the crowd was excited. All-in-all, a great experience.
Being used to sporting events in Germany with standing room only fan sections consisting of drums, flags and singing fans the atmosphere in North Carolina was extremely somber. At times you could hear a pin drop despite the fact that excellent hockey was being played for the fans.
Venue and the show was great but the home team performance for the first two periods was awfull. Hope that they would try to tackle more in the first period to spark up themselves and spectators. It was not worth the money until 3rd period.
