I had no knowledge of what to expect from the The Be Good Tanyas, so I was pleasantly surprised by them. They did a fantastic cover of The Beatles' "Here Comes the Sun" that I really enjoyed. The Carolina Chocolate Drops, the reason I came to the show, did not disappoint. In fact, they exceeded my expectations. They were there to entertain and they most certainly did so. They played a little old, a little new, a little bit of covers, and overall just had a ton of fun entertaining us all.

by misssia on 8/21/11Oregon Zoo - PortlandThe CCD are true entertainers! This was an unforgettable experience because they are deeply rooted in their music and can put it all together with joyful authenticity. They clearly enjoy making music together and that makes for an amazing show. The beat-boxer on the end was unbelievable and everyone was so electric! The main bones player is absolutely captivating on the stage - someone should put him in front of a green screen and show off his crazy movements! The set list was well organized with a whole assortment of historical music, everything touched with their special blend of authenticity and modernity. I loved it and will see them again anytime! I know it will be a new experience every time!

Rating: 4 out of 5 CCDrops were everything I expected
by toohotty on 12/6/10Variety Playhouse - AtlantaCCDrops provided a great night of their totally unqiue, original music. Incredibly talented. They supplied my Bluegrass/old tymey music fix. The opening act wasn't that great - okay: Low Anthem. CCDrops announced their Grammy nomination which thrilled the crowd! So glad I discovered them. Also, they had 2 encores, which I have rarely seen.
Rating: 5 out of 5by Borogove13 on 12/6/10Variety Playhouse - Atlanta Great show! If I had any complaint it would be that there wasn't enough space to dance. The Carolina Chocolate Drops really seem to enjoy performing and that playful joy is infectuous. If you see a show and Rhiannon asks if you want a fast song or slow song, shout out for slow! We were treated to a gorgeous take on "Why Don't You Do Right" that was a real show-stopper! She also kicked off her shoes and broke out some Charleston dancing in one number. Dom's having the time of his life up there too and you can't help but smile for watching him jig with his bones, fiddle with his hat, and blow that jug. Justin's the stoic of the group, but the man of little words is still bringing great musicianship to round things out nicely. Whole show's simply a joy!
Rating: 5 out of 5 They never disappoint!
by jemiller66 on 12/6/10Variety Playhouse - AtlantaI have seen the Carolina Chocolate Drops 4 times. They always put on an amazing show. They have a tremendous amount of energy and put all of it into their music. They tell the history of many of their songs and always give credit when they've learned the song from someone else which I really appreciate. I would recommend seeing them live even to a person who does not like stringband music.
Rating: 5 out of 5by 1Grove1 on 12/6/10Variety Playhouse - Atlanta Opening act was a slow donkey ride, but the Chocolate Drops were worth waiting for. It's hard to believe that so much talent could be on the stage in the form of just three people!!!

by TheMo19 on 12/6/10Variety Playhouse - AtlantaCarolina Chocolate Drops are a very special, unbelievably talented group. Each of the members could stand alone as an amazing individual artist. Put the three of them together, and you have something unrivaled. Their personalities are fun, as well, and their between-song chatter is entertaining. It's so cool to watch them each take turns playing the various instruments, and each has a unique voice of gold. I LOVE THEM!
