    extraordinary talents

by MacDoc on 2/11/13Five Spot - Atlanta

Concert started on time (appreciated). Small venue was packed with mixed crowd of about half that had seen them before and about half newbies. They played for about 90 minutes with no break and established a good rapport with the audience. The set was a very nice mixture of classical, international, and their own original work. Especially nice were two of their original pieces, The Marsh and Eve. Their medley of scores from the spaghetti westerns (like the Good, the Bad, & the Ugly) was great.

    CGT rocked!

    by 7292626 on 2/10/13Five Spot - Atlanta

It was an amazing concert that never lost my interest. I got my boyfriend tickets because he is a guitar major and I knew he would love it. He loved it and I even did too being a vocalist. The CTG was an incredible group that I would love to see again. The venue was great, but I wish there was more room!

    Unbelievably wonderful guitar

by LGJeff on 4/24/12Montalvo - Saratoga

The California Guitar Trio shared the Montalvo stage with the Montreal Guitar Trio and played to a sold out audience in the final performance of the Montalvo season. What a way to go out! Each trio was individually amazing, and when they played together, they when phenomenal. The play list was eclectic mixing pop, classical, Indian, Arabic and more. The audience was on its feet numerous times and clamored for more at the end of the concert.

    CGT and MG3 were amazing!

by Anonymous on 4/24/12Montalvo - Saratoga

What a show! The Montreal Guitar Trio did things on classical guitars that I didn't think were possible. The sounds coming out of those nylon strings were out of this world! The mixtures of sounds of different countries and regions was great. The California Guitar Trio, as always, put on an amazing show! From Surf Rock to Bach, their facility on the instrument is outstanding! Their own compositions are innovative and beautiful. I love these guys!

CGT never fails to impress... together with the Montreal Guitar Trio, they are indeed a very impressive musical experience. The new material is amazing. I always feel fortunate when I am able to experience these guys when they come to town. Bravo!!!

Absolutley amazing!!! This was one of the best shows I've seen in some time. CGT blows me away every time and the collaboration with MG3 was great. I'll definitely be watching for the next show in my area!

    California Guitar Trio Fantastic

by AgingMama on 3/10/12Duling Hall - Jackson

I've never known acoustic guitars to have the varied sounds the Trio brought out. They played before an enthusiastic audience who appreciated their new renditions to a few old songs, and praised the new work.

    Love CGT

    by Ruffian22 on 3/10/12Duling Hall - Jackson

I first saw the California Guitar Trio in 2001 at NEAR-fest and they have maintained their energy and showmanship and artistry since then. When they played Jackson MS to a small audience in a nice intimate venue this past week, I brought my husband. It is the ultimate compliment to a group that he does not look at his watch after the first 15 minutes and he did not look at his watch the whole concert. He was mesmerized as was I. These three guys are intense artists, establish rapport with the audience and generally play their asses off the entire time. From the wonderful cover of Bohemian Rhapsody and Echoes to their own Andromeda music, if you want to spend a magical evening...go see them.

    California Guitar trio was delightful!

by onekiity on 3/5/12Five Spot - Atlanta

What fun! As usual the Trio dazzled the audience with their impeccable performance and distinctive arrangements of songs spanning the spectrum of musical genres. As Paul Richards commented, 'where else can you hear compositions of J.S.Bach and Pink Floyd played side by side?' No where else I know of--not to mention, mixing in some Ventures, Doors, amazing originals, and Queen. And all complemented by the occasional, subtle wit of each member's personality. It was a thoroughly enjoyable show! I departed with a far happier spirit than when I arrived.

    Great Show!

by ScottyQ on 3/5/12Five Spot - Atlanta

Three exceptionally talented guitarists showing their ability to put out some truly fun music. A little too much talk about Robert Fripp, but given the fact that Fripp is the reason we have them as a group in the first place, it's understandable he gets some credit. It was a fun night and despite the fact that we had to stand throughout the show (sometimes behind a 6'6" fellow who blocked at least one player at times), their 1.5 hour show passed pretty quickly. Reminded me of when I heard DiMeola, DeLucia and McLaughlin play together 30+ years ago. Granted they are not as good as those three - but they are pretty darn good. I'd see them again.

    Fareed Haque was awexome!

by Jeff9876 on 3/22/11The Ark - Ann Arbor

I was not familiar with the California Guitar Trio, I was there to see Fareed Haque. California Guitar Trio are amazing players, but if you want to see a bunch of improv, guitar solos, trading fours etc... the trio is not for you. If you like cool renditions of pop and classical tunes flawlessly executed, I highly recommend them. Fareed Haque is an amazing jazz, world, and classical guitarist. His improvisations are awesome and when he played the encore with TCGT, it was fantastic.

    CGT is exceptionally extraordinary!

by Anonymous on 3/22/11The Ark - Ann Arbor

I have seen a number of "reputable" guitar concerts, and while I don't have even the slightest education on it - this was simply the most amazing guitar playing I've ever seen and/or heard. You literally couldn't tell where one player began and the next ended. It was as though they were one collective unit - simply amazing.

California Guitar Trio w/ surprise guests! Awesome

by Medlady on 3/12/11B.B. King Blues Club and Grill - New York

When we found out that the opening act would be the Montreal Guitar Trio we were excited. Then when they played separately and then together as a group we were blown away! The selections ranged from classical to Beatles to Queen's Bohemian Rhapsody. A very enjoyable night indeed. Would recommend highly.

The three appear to be accomplished guitarist, but I expected the difficulty of the pieces to be greater.

    California Guitar Trio...INCREDIBLE!

by WoodyJ on 2/6/11Five Spot - Atlanta

The Five Spot was a great venue for this talented, entertaining group. I am a big fan of instrumental guitar-driven music and these guys didn't disappoint. Imagine three guitar virtuosos playing in a style that often sounds like one big instrument with a repertoire that includes selections from multiple genres and you gave the CGT. I have wanted to see these guys for a long time and was thrilled with their performance. I give them my highest recommendation.

    CGT- Musical Excellence

by AL420 on 1/29/11Squitieri Studio Theatre - Gainesville

Opening the nite with a classic ventures "Walk Don't Run" set the tone for an amazing delicate performance. Three of the best guitar players you will ever see or hear, played with a perfection, bore from years of mastery. The unquestioned highlight of the nite is Pink Floyd's Echoes. One the finest songs ever recorded. The trio performed it with grace and style only matched by the original. Some where Richard Wright is smiling. I hope Gilmour gets to hear it, right up his alley. Do not miss a chance to catch these gentlemen. They cast up back to a day and age of troubadour's and minstrels. Shine on. The Kid
