California Ballet Tickets

Great Ballet by wonderful, professional dancers. We enjoyed every minute! Even my 7 and 9 year old granddaughters were enthralled.

Maybe I was expecting a more classic Cinderella? Or a more classic score? Or a live orchestra? The music: it was pretty ominous sounding. I guess the original versions of Cinderella were pretty dark but I was expecting something more vibrant and pleasant. I was also expecting an actual orchestra versus a recording. It was unfortunate because there were points the music kept going over applause. And Cinderella has a solo dance and the timing was a little off. Both could’ve been solved with a live orchestra. The plot: was weird, and a lot didn’t make sense thankfully I could read the pamphlet but until I did it really made no sense. I would not see this version of the play ever again.

We are big fans of this company mostly due to the Nutcracker which we have seen over a dozen times over the years. I thought the dancing was original and beautiful. Of course, we love all the kids who are allowed to participate and added some memorable moments! The Ballet School is training many young people and we are glad for that. The only reason I give it 4 stars instead of 5 is because of the score and that there was not a live orchestra. Part of the problem is also that I did not care for the music, especially compared to the Nutcracker Suite which is one of my all time favorites. The Russian composers of the "newer" early 20th century were too interested in being dark and morose. Congrats to the new artistic director and we look forward to his newer version of the Nutcracker even though we loved the old one.

All said....a remarkable event! Friendly staff. Booster chairs much appreciated!

The show itself was incredible. The performers, costumes, stage sets/lighting, live orchestra, all were absolutelty stellar in every regard. However, the sidewalk, stairs & elevators to/from the parking garage were DEPLORABLE. Filthy, stinky, totally DISGUSTING. Trash and an abundance of human waste throughout. I highly doubt that we’ll be returning to any future performaces at the SD Civic Theater.

First time at Ballet, we enjoyed. The staff was courteous and helpful. We will be back.

California Ballet’s “The Nutcracker” and San Diego traditions go hand in hand. For over 50 years this has been THE Nutcracker to see. Maxine Mahan’s choreography is fantastic & the costumes beautiful. The Company and the students are wonderful-their hard work is evident. Next year San Diego will get to experience a whole new production. I know it will be equally as magical.

I have seen the nut cracker many times. The first Have was just plain bad. Not well rehearsed, many mistakes and the main male balerena in the first half was not a balerena. The second half was much better, the balerenas in the pastel colors rocked its the lady with the silver costume needs to retire. The main male and female balerena were good. I will look for a Russian group next time

Loved this, great memories for the kids! Cant wait to go back next year for the new version. :)

Enjoyable experience, especially for a mostly free night.

This is the 4th year I’ve seen this and it was by far the best performance yet. Well done.

We have gone for 5 years now to this ballet because it is always so beautiful year after year!

First time seeing it and was blown away. Would highly recommend - the sugar plum fairy was incredible.

This was one of the Best performances of the Nutcracker O have ever seen! Five Stars!

The show was a good experience but the beautiful music was SO quiet. We could hear every cough, crinkle of cough drops and every time the ballet shoes landed on the floor. I wish the fabulous music had been amplified!

The performance was beyod amazing. The costumes, dance performances, music and vocalists were all exceptional. Much better than the movie.

Everything was amazing. I always use ticket master to get tickets for concerts, plays etc and I can't complain.

This has got to be one of Cal Bal's best performances. The story was well played and the dancing had me with my mouth open. The costumes were gorgeous and the jazz band made the ballet twice as good (if that's even possible).

Amazing show and I will attend more California Ballet. Congratulations to all and thanks for a memorable time!!!!
