Calgary Stampeders History
The Calgary Stampeders are the fifth oldest active franchise in the Canadian Football League (CFL). Founded in 1945, success came early for the Stampeders, who completed the CFL’s only perfect 12-0 regular season and secured their first Grey Cup in 1948. Overall, the Calgary Stampeders have appeared in 17 Grey Cup finals and won eight, in 1948, 1971, 1992, 1998, 2001, 2008, 2014 and 2018. Notably, the Stamps’ championship victories in 2001 and 2008 also stand as the two highest-attended CFL championship games of the 21st century. Throughout the team’s history, Calgary Stampeders players have claimed 11 Most Outstanding Player Awards, nine Most Outstanding Canadian Awards, six Most Outstanding Rookie Awards, four Most Outstanding Defensive Player Awards and eight Annis Stukus Trophies for the CFL’s top head coach. The Calgary Stampeders and the Edmonton Elks are included in the multi-league sports rivalry between the two cities, dubbed the Battle of Alberta.

Calgary Stampeders at McMahon Stadium
McMahon Stadium has been the home of the Stampeders since it opened in 1960. The stadium is owned by the University of Calgary and named after two Calgary residents and brothers, Frank McMahon and George McMahon, who helped fund the facility’s construction. McMahon Stadium was the site of the 1988 Winter Olympics' opening and closing ceremonies and has hosted five Grey Cup finals between 1975, 1993, 2000, 2009 and 2019. The 35,400-seat venue has undergone several expansions and renovations, most notably in 1988, 2001 and 2005. During home games, fans can catch sight of Ralph the Dog, the first mascot of any CFL team, or celebrate a touchdown with the release of a white gelding known as the "Quick Six" horse, who charges along the east sideline.

When you buy tickets for an event and wifi and other problems persist when you try to gain entrance it really blows. Ticket Master kept reading its not you its us! Missed a chunk of the start of the game trying to prove I had actually purchased ticketssss. Pain in the butt
Great price on tickets. Souvenir shop were very helpful and went above and beyond.
Hi guys, I was with my kids on this event, and everything was perfect on the organization, and besides that The Stampeders won!! well done, keep up the good work, Regards
Another great afternoon out enjoying the Stamps. Got lucky with a $10 off promo code, so I got a great seat section C, row 15. Good game, and a great crowd better than 30,000 (finally we broke 30,000 this season). Have one more Stamps game coming up against BC September 17, I was lucky that will be my fifth game this season. Unless they host the Western Finals that will be it for me this season, I can't make any of the October games.
I found the site was not the easiest to deal with. Took me longer then I thought. It kept moving me to different seats and was often crashing
I had a great time as usual seeing the game. Lucky to find an isle seat in row 2 section C. Lions pulled it out 41-40, but it was a great game to be at. Most likely will have to work Labour Day, so I'll be looking forward to catching the rematch Sept 17 against the Lions. The crowds have been a bit small this year ranging from 22,000 to 25,000. I hope we can get about 10,000 butts in the stands each game the rest of the season. Was able to catch the Bombers in July, and the "Elks" in June so far this season, thoroughly enjoyed those games as well.
Good. HASHSHSHSHSHHDHDHDHDHDJDJDNDRHEHEHEHEHHEYDDYDHRHEJEJ
good game to go watch with friends, we sat in section J up on row 56 but you can see all the plays definitely will be back.
Everything was great!! only a small hiccup was the scanner at the stadium had issues reading the eticket but it was resolved.
No backs in seats. Basically bleacher seating. Fans were amazing for Calgary fans.
First win of the season! Amazing atmosphere and CFL game of the year! Jake “The Mayor” Maier was awesome and great view of the field! Outstanding!
I would gave given more than 5 stars, if it were possible, but there was absolutely no parking and no warning or hints that the MASSIVE amount of venue parking was not accessible to the public. McMahon has parking all around it yet not a single spot is able to be purchased to use while you are at the game! We had no idea, thankfully I was with someone and they were able to drop me off on one of the roads surrounding the stadium. I have an injured knee so it is incredibly difficult to walk long distances. We were not permitted to drop injured people off at the door. We had to walk from the surrounding street. Thankfully the person I was with was able to find paid parking in a lot about 25 minutes away. We missed the beginning of the game waiting for our car parking group member to walk from where he parked. We know this for next time but if you are, by chance, seeing this before your first game, take transit or plan to search for parking for 1 hour and walk for ATLEAST 25 minutes.
The best experience for two out of town Stampeders fans on their honeymoon!!
I still don't know much about football but I went there to support the Stampeders. They were great and also the fans were (good) insane.
They were down sixteen points with two and one half minutes left Tied it up 41 - 41 at 1:06 then went to overtime Got a three point conversion then shut down BC in their OT attempt with an interception in the end zone 44 to 41 final What an amazing finish One third of the fans had left and missed the best ending ever
This was a wonderful experience for my son and l. My wife is from Canada and we were visiting family anyway. I would recommend anyone to catch a CFL game and enjoy the Stampede as well very good vacation.
Was in Calgary for the weekend. Bought my tickets online. Didn't have to worry about printing them off. They just scanned my phone. Was an awesome night for my first football game. Calgarians rock ! So friendly !!
Was a great game. Hamilton looked like they had the momentum but would get shut down and calgary had 3 interception. Back and forth game and with 3 seconds left we kicked a 50 yard field goal. Memorable game will be going to another game.
the game was in a blizzard and it was very cold for the kids to sit and watch. half of the stadium left at half time because of the cold and the way the game was going.
