As they approach their twentieth anniversary, CAKE’s adherence to their original guiding principles has only grown stronger. Formed during the nineties as a somewhat antagonistic answer to grunge, CAKE’s democratic processes, defiant self-reliance, and lucid yet ever-inventive music has made them a nation-state unto themselves, with no obvious peers, belonging to no school. In addition to writing, arranging, producing, and performing their own music, they have taught themselves to engineer their recording projects in their own solar-powered studio, which actually generates more power than is needed to run it, causing the building’s electrical meter to run in reverse. CAKE’s most recent album, Showroom of Compassion, was released on their own Upbeat Records label and debuted on the US Billboard Top 200 Album Chart at #1 during 2011 -- making the album as pure an extension of the DIY aesthetic as ever attempted by an established act.

Not the same ol same ol. Great setlist Great performance
Cake is great! I just wish McGrath amphitheater would turn up the volume
Facility was fantastic. Band rocked. Felt like there was a lot of taking going on as opposed to performing - but they are rock stars so they can do whatever they want - as long as they put on a good show and Cake came through.
It was a great concert full of great hits and humor. Definitely a don’t miss the next time they come to town. The smaller venue was great because all the seats were great and the band actually looked like they were humans and not miniatures! The sound was great and the venue is beautiful.
I bought passes to the Hilltop Lounge and was disappointed to find they had done away with the private bathroom. That was a big reason we have purchased passes in the past. I really wish they would build a deck about two feet high on top of the concrete pad at the Hilltop Lounge. That way, lounge-goers could easily see over the heads of lawn patrons who wish to stand. That change would guarantee me coming back to the lounge. As it is, we probably won't spend money on the lounge next year.
It was a great concert at a wonderful venue. They played a lot of hits and they sounded great
Premier parking is where it's at! We are always glad we purchased it, no matter the venue! Cake was an amazing show. They put on the best show I've seen in years! The audience involvement is always an amazing touch. The tree they gave to someone was funny too! Ticketmaster is always easy to use and has all the info you need about the venue, the artist and functions around the event.
I had never seen Cake before so I was super excited. It was nice because it was An Evening with Cake. So there was no opening act. They played the whole time with a brief intermission in the middle. They didn't allow pictures or videos during the show, which ended up being really nice because then everyone was just in the moment enjoying the music. Had a great time!!
This was my first time seeing Cake live. They put on an amazing show from start to finish, and I loved that we got to sit next to seasoned Cake fans who helped make it a fun experience, too. It was my first time back at White River since they majorly renovated, and the weather was absolutely perfect. Can't wait for Cake to come back to Indy!
