Great Show, Be Careful with Seat Selection

by ZzmikeyChicago on 2/17/16The PrivateBank Theatre - Chicago

This production was musically rich and well acted. As in the movie, the male MC and female lead "Sally Boles" stole the show. However, the BAND and the DANCERS are the other two legs to this stool and each held up their end in fine fashion. Sexual dalliances and great musical performances are just window dressing for the sinister political undertones of dangerous 1930s Berlin.

    Randy was supurb

by Sunshinefan2 on 2/17/16The PrivateBank Theatre - Chicago

The whole cast did a wonderful job, but i came largely to see if Randy Harrison was as great in person as he was as Justin Taylor. He is an incredible actor who can flawlessly demonstrate a wide variety of emoticons . I would go see him again anytime I had the opportunity.

    Highly Recommend!

by Heartchi on 2/17/16The PrivateBank Theatre - Chicago

Show was highly entertaining from beginning to end. The cast was beautiful, talented and funny. The only warning...obstructed view in dress circle is real. Do not sit in dress circle unless front row. We were lucky enough to move seats to main floor after speaking with ushers about obstructed view (and we weren't the only ones).

    Cabaret was amazing

by John900 on 2/16/16The PrivateBank Theatre - Chicago

The musical captured the great songs and dance as well as the underlying encroachment of nazism in visceral and unsettling ways. This is a good thing that art makes us uncomfortable and think as it weaves a compelling and entertaining story.

    Cabaret Chicago 2016 Was Great!

by BryRN on 2/16/16The PrivateBank Theatre - Chicago

I was a little bit skeptical about watching this show because I don't really have any background about Cabaret. However, that changed when the show started. It was kinky, interesting, the musicality was superb! It had its funny moments, sad moments, and just overall great moments. The audience participation part was refreshing. Randy Harrison as the emcee was great. Andrea Goss' voice was just phenomenal. You guys should check it out!

    Cabaret

by ShowtuneQueen on 2/16/16The PrivateBank Theatre - Chicago

I had never seen Cabaret before and didn't know what to expect. I wasn't pleasantly surprised not only by the performance but the music, and just how well the choreography, the musicians, and the actors were all part of the performance. The singing and dancing were phenomenal and the music was extremely well. The one caveat to the performance was when the sound guys radio went off during the show other than that, I highly recommend it.

Cabaret is at once funny, outrageous, and chilling

by Suzanneetron on 2/16/16The PrivateBank Theatre - Chicago

This version of Cabaret lived up to the original, but was more risqué and raunchy (then again, Berlin was both in the 1930s). Sets were sparce but worked well for the scene changes. The Kit Kat band was wonderful, and there were no weak voices or acting. What I missed was the coming aura of the Nazis earlier on in the play.

    Vday weekend

by Jnev on 2/16/16The PrivateBank Theatre - Chicago

The venue was great! Not a bad seat in the house, our seats were incredible. The show had some incredible voices and awesome dance numbers, but the storyline was slow...needless to say, to make the best of our Saturday night, we left at intermission, somewhat disappointed.

    Simple and heartfelt

by MMez on 2/15/16The PrivateBank Theatre - Chicago

Randy Harrison was an absolute treat as the Master of Ceremonies, and the cast and band was great. The production design was rather simple but adequate though a little bit of a letdown. Raunchy, fun and stirring.

    Awesome show.

by Glomper on 2/13/16The PrivateBank Theatre - Chicago

Outstanding voices. Orchestra was rock solid and really played the Kander and Ebb vaudeville feels well. (There were a few out of tune notes from the strings here and there, but no big deal) The Emcee was completely convincing. All the lead roles were performed admirably. The Entr'acte really drew us in. It broke down the fourth wall and made us feel like we were really welcome guests. Don't ask how, just go see it. GO SEE THIS SHOW. If you've never seen Cabaret live, REALLY go see this show on tour.

    Cabaret was fantastic!

by JPDarci on 2/13/16The PrivateBank Theatre - Chicago

I bought tickets not exactly knowing what the story of Cabaret was, but I was not disappointed. Great story about the diversity of the effects on people in Berlin during Hitler's reign. Real toe tapper. You'll be humming "Cabaret" for a few days. I'll definitely always buy seats a few row from the front in the mezzanine when coming to the Privatebank Theatre. I once bought front row of the balcony, and you couldn't see a thing unless you leaned forward.
