Not impressed.
by Marie H. on 2/2/24Gas South Arena - DuluthRating: 2 out of 5We went to the PBR last year (Jan 2023) at Gas South Arena and comparing this to that, no where near the same caliber. This event had bull riding, barrell racing, bull fighting and concert with 3 different artists. Starting with the Bull riding - not impressed. Bulls were small and seemed tame compared to other events we've been too. There were few riders even comparable to other events, and most seemed inexperienced and barely made it out of the chute before bailing off the bulls. Bull fighting - eh, semi-ok. One of the four guys was good, but the rest just ran around. Other events similar to this, the fighters were jumping over the bulls and being all up on them and the bulls were much larger, not these guys. Barrel Racing - I've never saw a barrel race event where no where no one entered a time below 13.9 until now - Usually there are some with faster times, etc. Again, not impressed - and hope the one lady and her horse are ok after they fell completely over rounding the first barrel. Very few rounded barrels without knocking them over or having to grab them to keep them from falling. Don't think they had enough running room, in my opinion. Concerts - Started with Alexandra Kay - then to Sam Barber and the main performer Warren Zeiders... would have been great if you could understand any of them. The background music was so loud that you couldn't hear them singing unless there was no background music. Speakers hung in the way for lower level seats, unable to see stage. Warren kept stopping between songs as if he was having issues, unsure what was going on. Over all music would have been good had you been able to understand what was being sung. Even the speaking portions when there was no music was hard to understand. We had good seats in the upper portion of 105. This was the main reason I got tickets was for the music, so to say disappointed would be an understatement. The best thing about the music was each performer was on for at least half an hour - would have been nice to actually hear & understand it. Venue needs to do better for events like that especially when you pay over $100 a ticket.
