About

Bullet for My Valentine is a heavy metal band from Wales. They released their debut album in 2005, though they had originally formed as a band in 1998 under the name of Jeff Killed John and released a number of EPs before their first album. Years later a couple of early tracks were reworked and released under the Bullet for My Valentine name. In their early years, before official singles and album releases, they performed cover versions of popular heavy metal bands such as Metallica and Nirvana, whom they list among their influences along with Iron Maiden and Slayer. The band promoted their first album by taking a tour around the world and subsequently toured to promote each of their albums with lots of tour time in North America, Canada and the US. With a growing fan base they began to be invited to perform at festivals and as their popularity grew they moved up the billing at many prestigious gigs. By 2006 they were headlining at the Kerrang XXV gig at London's Brixton Academy and up to the present day Bullet for My Valentine have continued to tour and perform at music festivals all over the world. Over the years the band have collected an enviable cabinet of awards starting with their Best Newcomer award at the Welsh Music Awards in 2004. They won the Best British Band Award twice at the Metal Hammer Golden God Awards, in 2006 and in 2010. They have been regular award recipients at the Kerrang! Awards including Best British Band three years in a row from 2008 to 2010.

one of the best show's i've seen. bullet was phenomenol and all that remains did a fabulous job. they both really got the crowd going and brought a lot of energy. since a smaller venue i really felt closer 2 the band even tho i was in the back. it was an amazing show. i'll never forget it!

They sounded amazing and made everyone in the entire venue part of the show!!! They even chose to play a new song for the first time with us... which totally rocked!!! Only more awesome Bullet to come!!! Give these boys a chance, and I promise they won't disappoint!!

The show started way too early so we missed most of all that remains the band I really wanted to see and I got stuck in a no alcohol section. But bullet was really good and despite this we had a good time

    Crowd participation required

by ScreamAimFire on 7/29/09Starland Ballroom - Sayreville

So last night i went to Bullet For My Valentine and All That Remains at starland. I had seen on the website that it had sold out the night before so i figured there would be alot of people. But DAMN that place was absolutely packed to the max. It was crazy as hell. The opening band was called Sweet Cyanide. I had looked them up on their myspace a week before and i was not a fan of their recorded stuff at all. However, they were pretty entertaining live and their music sounded a WHOLE LOT better in concert. I only watched about 3 songs, then went out for a cigarette so i can't give much of a review on them. Next up was All That Remains. Holy crap i have never seen a crowd go crazier in my life when they came on stage. They opened up with "This Calling" which really set the crowd off. There were pits EVERYWHERE, if you weren't moving, it's because you were in the bar getting a drink. It was insane. The crowd sang along to all the songs, and ATR kept them on their feet for their whole set. Ofcourse before the headlining band comes on, you'll always hear chants and screams form the crowd, and this show was no different. As soon as ATR got off stage, BFMV chants began and didn't stop til they were on stage. Talk about your crazy opening, they killed it when they opened with "Waking the Demon". I have never in my life seen better crowd participation during their set and during ATR. I've seen well over 100 concerts in the past 3 years, and i can honestly say this was the best crowd i've been in. Everyone chanting and singing along with every song and they didn't stop until the band said goodbye. BFMV played most of their hits but ALOT of other random songs from the Poison or Scream Aim Fire. Very good performers VERY good sound and even better setlist.

I love going to to Starland because of its atmosphere. This show was the most fun I've had there in a long time. Lots of energy and the band absolutely killed it. Seen them 3x and this was by far the best yet.

BFMV: Absolutely Incredible @ Starland Ballroom

    by BlueLightning947 on 7/29/09Starland Ballroom - Sayreville

To be honest, I originally had some doubt about how Bullet was going to perform (due to some of the mediocre performance videos I had seen on YouTube prior to the show). All I can say now is that all of that doubt is now completely erased; that was probably one of the most amazing live shows I've ever seen. The opening act (Sweet Cyanide) was decent, but All That Remains (who were playing support) were just as great as Bullet. However, I think that Starland Ballroom and their sound techs deserve a lot of credit; let's just say that the audio setup was pretty much perfect. All the vocals came through clearly, and neither the bass nor guitars were drowned out by the drums. The sound was extremely loud; I went to the concert last night and my ears are still ringing. As for Bullet's performance, they were spot-on perfect. Matt Tuck's vocals were great; he hit every note as it should've been hit. Both Matt's and Jay's screams were perfectly brutal (and pretty much as good as they sounded on the studio recordings of the albums). Both the leads and rhythm parts on the guitars came through clearly; I don't think a single note was missed on any of the solos, and the drums were simply brutal. The crowd was decent I suppose, but not nearly as crazy as I expected. That's probably due to the fact that Starland was completely packed and there was barely any room to move around.

    Bullet & ATR = Amazing

by metallovinggirl on 7/29/09Starland Ballroom - Sayreville

This was one of the best shows I have been to at the Starland Ballroom. ATR did a kickass job and the lead singer was really great. Funny and really cared about his fans!!! Bullet topped the night off. The drummer was amazing and the energy they showed the fans was amazing!!!!!! So happy I went and will go see them again!!!

    Solid Heavy Metal Meltdown!

by ZMANia on 7/29/09Starland Ballroom - Sayreville

All that remains was excellent as opener. Bullet is an awesome band. The pit was dangerous , but friendly. Word to pit dwellers. Pick up your fallen comrades. Too many wannabes in there watching their own ass and throwing "crowd surfers" on top of small girls. Venue has kick ass AC as well. No passing out from heat exhaustion.

Bullet put on hell of a show

by Synyzster on 7/29/09Starland Ballroom - Sayreville

Both All That Remains and BFMV were awesome. Bullet even played a brand new song that has never been heard before. ATR was energetic as hell and really got the crowd going. Bullet played a great mix of old stuff and new stuff as well as one of my fav songs that didn't make the original album cut, "Ashes of the Innocent". Awesome show.
