We are three mid- to late-twenties adults who went sans children and had a fantastic time. The lawn seats were great and we had no problem seeing the cartoons or hearing the orchestra. We would definitely go back again!
An absolutely wonderful event for kids of ALL ages! The music, the venue, the cartoons - it was all so wonderful and so well produced!
People forget that cartoons in the 30-40's were designed for adults. The WB cartoons were among the most creative in every aspect including an especially the music. The music really made thos cartoons. The music was much more than just a background; the music was an integral part of the story. Bugs Bunny on Boradway with the BSO was outstanding. It was really something special to watch the cartoons and listen to the music live. Mr. Daugherty did a wonderful job as conductor and master of ceremonies. The BSO was as exceptional as always and then there were the cartoons! Just a nice evening -- Thank you, all!
I saw this 6 or 7 years ago at Wolf Trap and 100% enjoyed it then and told myself I needed to take my kids next time. This time I took my two youngest - now 15 and 20 - and it was joy to my heart to see them laughing away at the same things I was laughing about. So many kids their age would not think it as "cool" to watch cartoons. I grew up with Saturday AM cartoons - Looney Toons. I was so glad to take my kids to this - one of the last performances of BB on Broadway.
this performance by the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra was superb. As you watch the cartoons you forget that a live orchestra is playing right in front of you. The BSO was technically as good as any recording I've ever watched, and the fact that it was live made the sound unmatched to any of my childhood cartoon memories. I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 because I didn't care for the time spent just watching cartoons when the BSO wasn't playing. I thought there was too much of that. Regardless, I highly recommend it to everyone. Great music, and it was great to feel like a kid again and laugh at the cartoons.
