Bugs Bunny & the Baltimore Symphony were great!

by Rxpooh on 7/13/09Merriweather Post Pavilion - Columbia

I really enjoyed the music and seeing cartoons that I haven't seen since I was a kid was so much fun! I never realized that there was so much classical music associated with cartoons until now. The conductor was not only talented but was amusing and kept the audience's interest throughout the show. I only wish the show was longer!

    Bugs on Broadway Kid-Loveable!

by cleister on 7/13/09Merriweather Post Pavilion - Columbia

We took our two children (8 and 3) as we watch Looney Tunes all the time. The children went CRAZY about this! They also loved the live orchestra, as they both are interested in music. I HIGHLY recommend this to anyone so at least to introduce your children to the arts of classical music. - and get a good laugh with the cartoons!

Bugs Bunny on Broadway-Baltimore Symphony Orchestr

by Johnnycat on 7/13/09Merriweather Post Pavilion - Columbia

I thought the venue was terrific for this type of entertainment. The symphony was magnificent and you can't beat Bugs Bunny for cartoons. The background on the creators of the cartoons was wonderful for those who weren't already privy to it. My husband and I are both fans of Bugs and all the looney tunes characters. Add that to the symphony in a lovely outdoor wooded setting and you've got a wonderful evening!

    Bugs Bunny is ageless!

by PurpleGuy on 7/12/09Merriweather Post Pavilion - Columbia

It was a great evening and both my 11-year-old and 7-year-old daughters enjoyed it. Our only problems were that it started quite late (8:30PM) and my youngest was quite tired by the end. Also, the one time I manage to get tickets to a concert front row --and they were too close! We had an awesome view of the first violins (could almost read their music myself!), but we couldn't see the rest of the orchestra. There were a couple of points that I really wanted to see the percussion section...

by molleh on 7/12/09Merriweather Post Pavilion - Columbia

A terrific show. This was an evening of fun and nostalgia for us. Great music, cartoons we remembered from childhood. It was a beautiful night in a great venue. We can't wait to see the newest show when it comes to town!

    Buggerific!

by Mistergeeky on 7/12/09Merriweather Post Pavilion - Columbia

If you grew up on Looney Tunes you'll love this. If you appreciate the logistical and technical facets of trying to sync live music to animation, you'll love this.

    Fun for adults and kids

by Tilia on 7/12/09Merriweather Post Pavilion - Columbia

When I first purchased thiese tickets, its was at the request of my kids. How was I to know how much my husband and I would enjoy it. Watching all the best clips of Bugs Bunny on the big screen and appreciating the musical score played live...I took so much for granted as a child watching these cartoons. The scores for these cartoons are so complex and classic. We thoroughly enjoyed our evening, maybe even more so than the kids. If you have the opportunity to see this concert, do so now. They announced the final performances will be this year as they will be creating a new version for next year with more animated characters, so this will be your last chance to see this.

BUGS BUNNY ON BROADWAY was GREAT!!

by MrJack on 7/12/09Merriweather Post Pavilion - Columbia

The show was fablious, the seating and vendors were better than expected. I plan on seeing more events here in the near future. The full orchestra playing the cartoon hits was so well performed, timing, video and sound were excellent.

Bugs Bunny on Broadway - something for everyone

by Lavender on 7/12/09Merriweather Post Pavilion - Columbia

This was such a great show and we all enjoyed it, even our younger daughter (age 9) who thinks orchestra concerts are so booorrrring. The cartoons keep the interest of the younger children who may not sit still to hear the music otherwise. We felt lucky to have seen one of the last few shows in its original form and we plan to see the new version when it comes out next year. A good time was had by all!

Glad to See Loony Toons Getting RESPECT!

by Neophite on 7/12/09Merriweather Post Pavilion - Columbia

The Bugs on Broadway show was a lot of fun - the show worked on many levels. Kids were laughing, adults were laughing too. Not the "I'd better laugh so other people won't think I didn't get the joke " laughs, or nervous "don't want people to think I'm a prude so I will laugh at the dirty language" laughs, but honest, sincere, from the belly laughs. I was also happy to see the Warner Brothers cartoons, which I happen to think are a genuine American cultural treasure, getting some honors from the BSO. The music in those cartoons took real skill to play, and of course the BSO did it flawlessly. My date and I really enjoyed ourselves, and found the show both entertaining and enlightening. My only suggestion would be to turn down the brightness on the electronic displays - those with a view of the projection screen really did have the better show.

    BSO spectacular as usual!

by lisabyrd on 7/12/09Merriweather Post Pavilion - Columbia

We loved this concert. Cartoons and classical music are right up our alley! It's so nice to see the classics and hear them as well. We had lawn seats and I was disappointed to see the large camp chairs. I was under the impression that those weren't allowed and you could only have the backrest style chairs. We would have brought ours had we known. It was hard to see over and around them when all we had was a blanket to sit on. Oh well. Now I know for next time. Otherwise we love Merriweather and I'm so thrilled they're keeping it around!

BUGS BUNNY ON BROADWAY - BSO

by Storning on 7/12/09Merriweather Post Pavilion - Columbia

Really enjoyed this event - my wife's second time. Only criticism is that there seemed to be a fair amount of cartoons that were not accompanied by the Orchestra. $8 per beers was so steep that we opted to do without (though for that we can only blame the venue).

    Even better than expected

by slurpeeman on 7/12/09Merriweather Post Pavilion - Columbia

Just amazing. It's easy to overlook the brilliance of the soundtracks to these cartoons, but I promise you we won't ever again. Beautiful evening, perfect atmosphere. I will however be upgrading to pavilion seats next time. The lawn was just a bit too far away to really observe the orchestra in action.
