About

It says all you need to know about Buddy Guy that the music genre that he has come to embody, the Chicago Blues, could never hope to contain him. In the more than 55 years since the Louisiana moved to Chicago and embarked on one of the most influential careers a guitarist could ever hope for (just ask Eric Clapton), Guy is still pushing the envelope of his artistry. But what is remarkable about this Rock N' Roll Hall of Famer is that he isn't sacrificing an iota of his relevancy while doing so. Guy proves it not just in concerts that are as high energy now as they were when he was heralding a rock guitar revolution in the 1960's, but also on the charts. His 2010 musical autobiography-of-sorts Living Proof was the blues legend's highest carting record to date, while his 2013 double disk follow up Rhythm and Blues was #1 on the Blues chart and showed 77-year-old to be every bit the firecracker as guest stars Kid Rock and Arrowsmith. If his last few decades have proven anything, it's that a ticket to a Buddy Guy concert isn't simply a tour through blues history, but an opportunity to see a genre's foremost practitioner still at the top of his game, with as much to say as ever has.

    Buddy Guy at Hampton Beach

by BD10 on 7/12/09Hampton Beach Casino Ballroom - Hampton Beach

Buddy was amazing! He had the crowd into it, just an amazing show. The only bummer was that the casino had tables set up. would have been much better if there was open floor.

    Disappointment!

by Disappointment on 7/11/09Hampton Beach Casino Ballroom - Hampton Beach

Buddy was great but he only play a few songs! He was promoting Quin Sullivan, a 10 year old brillant blues guitar player. Quin played more songs than Buddy, I know Buddy is 72 years old but I didn't buy tickets to hear a 10 year old furture super star. I wanterd to hear Buddy and all the great music he has done during his careeer.

    Great Time

by BluesMan1 on 7/11/09Hampton Beach Casino Ballroom - Hampton Beach

Quinn Sullivan came out and played Little Wing and then went into Crossroads. Then Buddy came out and he is a show stopper. The man still has it. Best $40 I have ever spent.

Buddy Guy and Quinn Sullivan - we were speechless!

by Maizie on 7/11/09Hampton Beach Casino Ballroom - Hampton Beach

Excellent performance by Buddy Guy, and the little guy he brought along with him. 10 year old kid, unbelievable, note for note right there with him. Buddy let him close the show! Tom Hambridge opened, and what a talent he is in his own right! Songwriter extraordinaire, one of my favorites! Worth every penny, they are off to Atlanta for the next stop!

Quinn Sulivan Show with Special Guest Buddy Guy

by BOSTON on 7/11/09Hampton Beach Casino Ballroom - Hampton Beach

Let me begin by saying my wife and I are BIG fans of Quinn Sullivan. He is very talented (too talented for a 10 year old!) and my wife and I planned our evening to be there for him as the opening act. We have enjoyed watching him progress as a musician and entertainer and have seen him live before, and were excited to see him again. We would probably go to see him play solo as well. He has a long, exciting career ahead of him, keep it up, Quinn! However... The show was billed as "Buddy Guy". We have seen him numerous times in different appearances and he is one of our absolute favorite guitarists. Although we enjoyed the show, we felt a little cheated by the amount of time Buddy performed on stage. He did not play a whole set. His stage time was scheduled for one hour and twenty minutes. At least 20 minutes of this time was at the end of his set with Quinn performing at his side. (This is on top of the 30 minute solo show Quinn played to open). Of course Buddy's showmanship is perfect and entertaining. His playing is (of course) incredible. There was just too little of Buddy this night at Hampton Beach. I did not want to omit Tom Hambridge, he was also talented and fun and was a nice addition to show (we especially enjoyed "The Up Side of Lonely")!

    Buddy Guy

by Number1BGfan on 7/11/09Hampton Beach Casino Ballroom - Hampton Beach

Buddy Guy never disappoints. As always he was incredible, but he was not really the star of this paritcular show. He has discovered a 10 year old prodigy named Quinn that was truly amazing. This kids flawlessly imitates such greats as Buddy Guy, BB King and Eric Clapton and still adds his own unique individual flair.

Buddy Guy Still Lives Up to His Legend

by BigJimN on 7/11/09Hampton Beach Casino Ballroom - Hampton Beach

Fantastic! I'm thrilled to have had a chance to see a blues/guitar hero that has been an inspiration to a number of other guitar hereos of mine, and to me! It would have been icing on the cake if he'd played "Damned Righ,t I Got the Blues" and "Rememberin' Stevie", but it was great nonetheless. The guitarist he has play with him is also outstanding and it's great that Buddy lets him do some lead work for a few songs.

Buddy, Tom and Quin - Rock the house

by ponzai on 7/11/09Hampton Beach Casino Ballroom - Hampton Beach

I have been to several Buddy Guy concerts, Buddy never fails to amaze me. This concert Buddy shared the stage with two other show stoppers, Tom and Quin. This show was both amazing and unforgettable. Thanks to Buddy Guy, for bringing them to the stage with him.

!!! Buddy Guy Cant Forget The Blues !!!

by Downing on 7/11/09Hampton Beach Casino Ballroom - Hampton Beach

The show was amazing, the most amazing guitar work i have ever seen and that Quin Sullivan kid was pretty amazing to. Most people who go to events like this are musicians so they are there to appreciate the music and not to make asses of themselves which is nice. awesome!!!!

Did I buy Tix for Buddy or Quinn?

by morrison1433 on 7/11/09Hampton Beach Casino Ballroom - Hampton Beach

When we bought these tickets, the show starred Buddy Guy. The show we saw last night was the Quinn Sullivan/Tom Hambridge show. While both are extemely pleasant to watch and stars in their own right, the bottom line is we went to see Buddy and there simply wasn't enough of him. His own tremendously talented band, especially lead guitar player, had to take a back seat to a talented, if not precocious 10 year old kid. Had the show been advertised as Buddy/Quinn from the start, we may have still bought tickets but would have had different expectations.

The show was great and the kid Quinn Sullivan who opened for him was just amazing and the two of them playing together was just out of this world.
