About

Bryan Ferry in Concert

When it comes to debonair British crooners, Bryan Ferry has the market pretty well cornered, now in his fifth decade as one of the country's most celebrated and stylish pop stars. As beloved for his work with art rock band Roxy Music as he is for his solo material, the ever-dapper Ferry is a consummate performer, known for his silky voice, ladykiller looks, and come-hither stage presence. With a North American tour and Coachella appearance scheduled for 2014, Ferry has fans of all ages eagerly waiting to be seduced by his wily charms.

Bryan Ferry on Tour

Ferry formed Roxy Music in 1970 with several friends and acquaintances, among them a young Brian Eno, the now-legendary producer of David Bowie fame.  Between 1972 and 1982 the band released eight albums, topping the UK Albums Chart three times and racking up a slew of hit singles including "Jealous Guy" and "Love Is the Drug." In addition to continuing to front the band, Ferry has maintained an impressive solo career, releasing 14 solo albums over the last four decades. A true showman, Ferry continues to tour, lending his treasured voice to Roxy Music classics, hits from his solo catalog, and covers of artists ranging from Bob Dylan to The Beach Boys.

    Bryan Ferry

by Leonora on 10/8/11Beacon Theatre - New York

I have always loved the Beacon Theater. It is a great venue to see any show and I've seen some great ones here...this just may be the best so far. I have aways been a Roxy Music fan and have loved Bryan Ferry as a solo artist since his first album in 1973. Being such an ardant fan for almost 40 yrs this show did not disappoint! Bryan LOOKS great, SOUNDS great and you could tell he genuinally was HAPPY to be there. The band amazing, Chris Spedding on guitar gives it such cache and a female saxaphonist to make it interesting. There are 4 back up singers and two dancers so sexy in a 30's cabaret kind of way and a huge a video backdrop...it is a sensory overload!

    So good, so suave

by Steverinobeano on 10/8/11Beacon Theatre - New York

ok, the man doesn't need an opening act-- other than that, a great show from the most debonair rocker of m time. fine band (very attractive sax player, but not a great soloist)-- great to see/hear paul drumming away behind bryan, and chris spedding is tasteful as ever on guitar. the dancers add a nice touch as do the projections. a sophisticated evening that rocks-- sounds like a contradiction in terms, but go see mr. ferry and you'll know what i mean. a great mix of solo stuff, covers and roxy classics. was hoping for that "do the strand" encore, but alas, maybe next time.

So wonderful to see him again!

by WhinyMcGee on 10/8/11Beacon Theatre - New York

I made a special trip to NYC with the express purpose of going to this concert, and it was everything I'd hoped for and more. I also made sure that I avoided anything that mentioned the current tour's set list, so I'd be surprised and, boy, was I! Cuts from his current album and solo career, and some unexpected Roxy Music tunes as well. The band, the singers and the dancers were all first-rate, and the theater was wonderful. The sold-out crowd seemed to be into it as well, with the entire orchestra section standing at the end.

Yes, we get it: Bryan is still a sex symbol !

by herrfischer on 10/8/11Beacon Theatre - New York

For the most part the songs seemed to be almost indistinguishable from one another. One seemed to listen to one long song. A good one, though. Big exceptions to that rather monotonous experience were his old Roxy Music material, when he stopped using the movie screen behind him to pretend to be in a lazy moving Vogue shoot. It was irritating having to look at the constant images of Brigitte Bardot clones slowly running their hands through their hair and pouting their identical looking lips. During Roxy Music songs the images got much "funner", the tempo picked up, the rocker rocked. (Btw: he's not a good dancer) Bryan knows enough artists and creative people who could have designed a kick ass stage show. The two (wayyy in the) background dancers were entertaining but appeared only rarely. Overall he was well received and I was surprised to see how many instruments the man can play. I would still buy his albums, but not necessarily concert tickets. He sounds exactly the same on stage anyway (technical help?). Summary: Would have liked to see a better stage show.

    Great Music and Show

by redbaron09 on 10/7/11Music Center at Strathmore - N. Bethesda

Bryan put on a great show - much better than I had anticipated. He had tremendous musicians, back-up singers and even "go-go" dancers. His voice sounded great and the music and video backdrop were tremendous.

    True To Life

by Roxy4ever on 10/6/11Music Center at Strathmore - N. Bethesda

Never having seen a Bryan Ferry concert before I was very favorably impressed by his October 3 show at Strathmore in Bethesda, Maryland. His entourage filled the concert hall at Strathmore with amazing vocals, saxophone, clarinet, and lead guitars and keyboards blending seamlessly. Bryan is still a great entertainer, and is in great vocal and physical shape for someone his age. I was hoping for "Do the Strand" ('bored of the beguine, the samba isn't your scene') but no such luck. His renditions of Avalon, the instrumental interludes from the Avalon album, Boys and Girls single, Kiss and Tell, Love is the Drug, were 'simply mahvelous'. The sleek and lithe dancers on the pedestals at rear stage were stunningly beautiful and totally in sync with the music. My only regret is that as we all age, I won't have many more opportunities to see and hear them. Definitely worth it. Go see them if you can.

Bryan Ferry - very fine performance

by DukeL on 10/5/11Music Center at Strathmore - N. Bethesda

I have seen Roxy Music in the Manifesto tour and Bryan Ferry 3 times solo. This was as good as any of the previous 2 solo tours. Very satisfying. Enough interesting musical arrangements and odd flourishes to keep the rabid fan pleased, and the uptempo tunes were well done. "My Only Love" the best performance - moody, tuneful, stretched out to expand upon the beautiful melody. Wonderful intro to the second half of the show, all instrumental, acoustic guitar + oboe. The man continues to shine in concert in his 60's.

    A little Vegas in Bethesda

by Britpopfan1 on 10/5/11Music Center at Strathmore - N. Bethesda

I have seen Bryan Ferry once before several years ago at the 9:30 Club a smaller venue which requires standing although we had nice spots on the rail. He always delivers a nice show with a seasoned top notch band. This show was a more sedate setting with great acoustics and more of a larger venue show experience. Suffice it to say that he delivers a great rock show experience with large band, great backup singers, two Vegas type dancers to add to the fun. The music included a nice revue of his more familiar songs and surprisingly few tracks from his most recent album. Chris Spedding remains a fantastic lead guitarist who few remember dates back to the late 60's and actually played on Elton John's first few albums. In all, I loved it. One of the best shows I have seen this year.

    Brian Ferry was fantastic!

by VWCQueen on 10/5/11Music Center at Strathmore - N. Bethesda

There were 12 people in our group. We were invited backstage after the performance and I was able to get autographs of most of the muscians and performers. Brian Ferry was most gracious and gave me flowers for hosting his eldest son in May. Since I had not been to a rock concert in 20+ years, I was amazed at how things have changed. There was so much going on, and i loved the constant video behind the band. We loved the music, and the individual performances of the band members. Wow - what a show!!!

by cpi593h on 10/5/11Music Center at Strathmore - N. Bethesda

Very little original old (ENO) Roxy Music tunes. Most of the tunes were from later Roxy Music tunes or Bryan Ferry L.P.'s

    Brian Ferry @ Strathmore

by TWS500 on 10/5/11Music Center at Strathmore - N. Bethesda

Brian and the concert was great...the acoustics were excellent at the venue but the soundboard guy turned the music up too loud so that the gain distorted the sound... Great concert otherwise...

    Bryan Ferry

by Allojohn on 10/5/11Music Center at Strathmore - N. Bethesda

Superb concert at a superb venue. I had never been to Strathmore but will certainly consider it for other events. The concert was excellent - as expected - Ferry has assembled a gifted group to support him and knocked out a great selection of his and Roxy's catalog.
