BRUNO MARS IN CONCERT

Classic showmanship in the vein of James Brown and Michael Jackson is alive and well, and Bruno Mars is here to prove it. Mars takes the stage with The Hooligans, a tightly choreographed nine-piece soul band that serves as the perfect representation of his commitment to the live experience – a commitment that led to his selection as the halftime performer at Super Bowl XLVIII. A classic song-and-dance man and multi-platinum selling pop star, Mars references everyone from Prince to The Police in both his image and sound, but the result is more than mere imitation; as a songwriter and producer, he has successfully combined the sounds of his pop idols with reggae and hip hop to create a new generation of genre-crossing hits. In anticipation of his Super Bowl performance, fans can get tickets to catch Bruno Mars in concert on 2013’s Moonshine Jungle Tour.

BRUNO MARS BACKGROUND

Mars was born and raised in Honolulu, Hawaii, where he gained his first exposure to music playing rock and Motown covers in his family’s band, The Love Notes. By age five, the Elvis Presley impersonations he performed with the band had gained him a reputation on the island and landed him a cameo in the 1992 film Honeymoon in Vegas. After high school, Mars moved to Los Angeles to pursue music, finding initial success as a member of The Smeezingtons, the writing and production team behind Flo Rida’s 2009 hit “Right Round.” His first success as a solo artist came in 2010 with “Nothing On You,” a collaboration with rapper B.o.B. that peaked at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 and earned the duo several Grammy nominations. Mars’ debut album, 2010’s Doo-Wops & Hooligans, landed at No. 3 on the Billboard 200 and contained two worldwide No. 1  hits with “Grenade” and feel-good ballad “Just The Way You Are,” which nabbed him his first Grammy (Best Male Pop Vocal Performance). Sophomore album Unorthodox Jukebox (2012) was an even bigger success, peaking at No. 1  on the Billboard 200 and spawning the ubiquitous hits “Locked Out of Heaven” and “When I Was Your Man.”

Very expensive experience for small venue and short concert. Bruno started late and ended early! Didn’t bring it like advertised in Vegas. I’ve seen Bruno do a better performance at Jiffy Lube Live in Bristow, VA on the field. Why did I have to place my phone in a magnetic bag?!

  • Tried 30 minutes to get tickets

by Alex So g on 10/7/22Rating: 1 out of 5

His only trip to Lincoln California sold out in less than 45 minutes. The Venue concert hall could only hold 4,500 seats. So sad. Need two nights instead of one. I tried tirelessly to secure four tickets, but kept beaten out by other hungry Bruno fans.

  • Peter Hernandez was great

    by M. Y. on 10/4/22Rating: 5 out of 5

My first ever pop concert. And it was worth all the money and going out on Wednesday night! I’ve been a huge fan of Bruno. Even before I came to the United States, I remember my brother listening to Just the Way You Are. Treasure was my favorite song throughout high school. I rigorously listened to 24K Magic, dressing up as Bruno for Halloween and watching live performance videos from Live at the Apollo in college. I always dreamed of going to his concert but I never thought it would come true! Even though I was in the last row but I enjoyed every second of it. My expectations were super high but he did not disappoint. There were a lot of the familiar dance moves and arrangements but he changed up some things, which made me very happy. Phone-free policy made it better too. I didn’t even care when it started or ended because I was just there enjoying the music. Bruno is a phenomenal performer. The hooligans were great as always. I hope I get to see them again sometime soon. (The acoustic was a bit odd but idk bc this was my first pop concert)

  • Bruno great but not as good as MSG

by Matts on 9/23/22MGM Music Hall at Fenway - BostonRating: 5 out of 5

We were 15 row ctr on the floor. The problem with the Music Hall at Fenway is the stage is too low. Other similar venues have the stage about 6 foot higher so everyone can see when the entire audience is standing and dancing. He had NO large screens to show close ups which was a huge mistake giving the concert a bit of a Bus and Truck tour. However Bruno put on a great show and we had fun!

  • Bruno Mars at MGM Music Hall SO MUCH FUN!!

We had such a GREAT time at the Bruno Mars concert at MGM Music Hall at Fenway! Bruno and his band kept us on our feet all night long - dancing, singing, laughing! We had so much fun! The venue - MGM Music Hall at Fenway - is a FANTASTIC place to see a show! Not a bad seat in the house! This was my 3rd time seeing Bruno Mars and I would definitely see him again! Would I recommend? ABSOLUTELY!!! If you have an opportunity to see him, do it!!

  • Codgers for Bruno

by Enzo on 9/19/22MGM Music Hall at Fenway - BostonRating: 4 out of 5

Great show. Bruno has a fantastic voice and would have liked to hear more of it without overstated bass. Band was great and loved dancing with instruments. Fantastic venue but set was short for price of tickets. No phones really great idea. Overall really fun and would see Bruno again.

  • New MGM music hall-Bruno

by kiki on 9/16/22MGM Music Hall at Fenway - BostonRating: 4 out of 5

Not impressed with this new venue. Yes, it is small but all seats on first level are not tiered like a theater, you are all on the floor. So when everyone stands up, you can't see over their heads. 2nd and 3rd levels are tiered. It was sooo hot in there. Need better A/C. They are trying to be very strict about the purse restrictions. I was made to check my bag but saw women with similar size and bigger allowed to bring them in. Bruno was awesome and rocked the place. I wish he would have played longer. His voice was great however the sound could have been louder. At times, the music sounded louder than him.

  • See Bruno

Great great concert. Bruno gives it his all and so does everyone in the band. Didn't mind having my phone locked up and the whole things was set up very well and went very smoothly! Can't wait till he's back in the USA

  • Fun @ MGM @ Fenway

by SUNGODDESS on 9/15/22MGM Music Hall at Fenway - BostonRating: 5 out of 5

Bruno was unbelievable! I loved all of the songs he did and of course the dancing that goes along with it. His band was high energy and very good! They all looked like they were having fun. I wished I had a bigger dance floor. One of my favorite parts was when he sang solo and asked the audience if we remembered some of the older songs. He also tried to lighten up the fact that he took our cell phones away! The venue was perfect... comfortable and intimate. I did not think they need those "fireworks" for any of the songs. It was too much and they are too good! I was a bit irritated that he came out late but I got over that because everything else was so good!

  • Awesome show

This concert was AMAZING!! Bruno definitely is a showman and left no one doubting it! The band, the lights, the voices, the harmonies, everything was on point. He even sang a Disney song aNd KILLED IT!! Just wish I could have been able to use my phone for some pics or a video. But the j experience was great.

  • Great venue incredible show

by Frenchy on 9/14/22MGM Music Hall at Fenway - BostonRating: 5 out of 5

Well run by the teams on site. Not a bad seat in the house. Just epic and grand

  • Almost perfect

by Bumblebee on 9/14/22MGM Music Hall at Fenway - BostonRating: 4 out of 5

He’s amazing! Loved the no cell phone effort!! This probably sound ridiculous but the only issue I had was it was too loud. I often couldn’t tell what song he was singing and I could hear out of one ear for the whole next day. I just don’t think it has to be that loud to be awesome. It overshoots the awesome.

  • venue not all it is cracked up to be
