BRUNO MARS IN CONCERT

Classic showmanship in the vein of James Brown and Michael Jackson is alive and well, and Bruno Mars is here to prove it. Mars takes the stage with The Hooligans, a tightly choreographed nine-piece soul band that serves as the perfect representation of his commitment to the live experience – a commitment that led to his selection as the halftime performer at Super Bowl XLVIII. A classic song-and-dance man and multi-platinum selling pop star, Mars references everyone from Prince to The Police in both his image and sound, but the result is more than mere imitation; as a songwriter and producer, he has successfully combined the sounds of his pop idols with reggae and hip hop to create a new generation of genre-crossing hits. In anticipation of his Super Bowl performance, fans can get tickets to catch Bruno Mars in concert on 2013’s Moonshine Jungle Tour.

BRUNO MARS BACKGROUND

Mars was born and raised in Honolulu, Hawaii, where he gained his first exposure to music playing rock and Motown covers in his family’s band, The Love Notes. By age five, the Elvis Presley impersonations he performed with the band had gained him a reputation on the island and landed him a cameo in the 1992 film Honeymoon in Vegas. After high school, Mars moved to Los Angeles to pursue music, finding initial success as a member of The Smeezingtons, the writing and production team behind Flo Rida’s 2009 hit “Right Round.” His first success as a solo artist came in 2010 with “Nothing On You,” a collaboration with rapper B.o.B. that peaked at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 and earned the duo several Grammy nominations. Mars’ debut album, 2010’s Doo-Wops & Hooligans, landed at No. 3 on the Billboard 200 and contained two worldwide No. 1  hits with “Grenade” and feel-good ballad “Just The Way You Are,” which nabbed him his first Grammy (Best Male Pop Vocal Performance). Sophomore album Unorthodox Jukebox (2012) was an even bigger success, peaking at No. 1  on the Billboard 200 and spawning the ubiquitous hits “Locked Out of Heaven” and “When I Was Your Man.”

I've seen Bruno twice in Vegas; he is a must-see in the Park's intimate Dolby Live venue. There were people there of all ages and from all walks of life. Everyone was doing their thing, from dancing, singing, grooving in their chairs. Bruno's charisma is infectious- his talent is unmatched. He is a true performer who gives 100% to his craft and his fans. I appreciate the "no cell phone" rule, but would also like to have taken a few photos of course, and have had my phone available for safety purposes. I will definitely see him next year and would definitely recommend his show to anyone!!!

It was a amazing show but I have to disagree on the no phone policy. I understand his point but back then tickets were not that expensive as they are now. If I’m paying so much money to see him , I should at least have a picture for my memories.

by Bonita B on 6/10/23The Theater at MGM National Harbor - National HarborRating: 5 out of 5

Bruno Mars is one of the greatest showmen of our time. He may be working but he and his band seem as though they are really having fun on the stage performing for us. This is my 5th time in the DMV getting tickets for this show in the last 6 years. Each show was just as amazing as the other ne before it. Thank you

  • The layout of the theatre

by Makes no Sense on 6/10/23The Theater at MGM National Harbor - National HarborRating: 2 out of 5

The most expensive seats are so far to the right of the stage that you cannot see the stage. I would have been better off buying purchasing the cheaper seats as I would have had a better view. Also, people wondering from section to section was distracting.

  • One of the G.O.A.T

by A. N. on 6/10/23The Theater at MGM National Harbor - National HarborRating: 5 out of 5

The show was one of the best shows I’ve seen in my 40 years of being a concert-junkie! Bruno Mars was incredibly electric and he left everything he had on that stage! He was funny, charismatic, his voice was amazing and he dances like a new Michael Jackson. It was worth every single penny.

  • 1000% Recommend!!!

by Elle on 6/10/23The Theater at MGM National Harbor - National HarborRating: 5 out of 5

The MGM is a nice, smaller venue so it was great to see Bruno there instead of an arena. He literally had us dancing the whole time which made for an awesome night! Must see!

It was the best thing to ever happened to me. Bruno Mars is really all that. The voice is … and the moves… urgggghhh… he’s even FUNNY. The band was AMAZING TOO ! The no phone rule is a 50/50 to me. Like I would have loved a few memories of that night.
