BRUNO MARS IN CONCERT

Classic showmanship in the vein of James Brown and Michael Jackson is alive and well, and Bruno Mars is here to prove it. Mars takes the stage with The Hooligans, a tightly choreographed nine-piece soul band that serves as the perfect representation of his commitment to the live experience – a commitment that led to his selection as the halftime performer at Super Bowl XLVIII. A classic song-and-dance man and multi-platinum selling pop star, Mars references everyone from Prince to The Police in both his image and sound, but the result is more than mere imitation; as a songwriter and producer, he has successfully combined the sounds of his pop idols with reggae and hip hop to create a new generation of genre-crossing hits. In anticipation of his Super Bowl performance, fans can get tickets to catch Bruno Mars in concert on 2013’s Moonshine Jungle Tour.

BRUNO MARS BACKGROUND

Mars was born and raised in Honolulu, Hawaii, where he gained his first exposure to music playing rock and Motown covers in his family’s band, The Love Notes. By age five, the Elvis Presley impersonations he performed with the band had gained him a reputation on the island and landed him a cameo in the 1992 film Honeymoon in Vegas. After high school, Mars moved to Los Angeles to pursue music, finding initial success as a member of The Smeezingtons, the writing and production team behind Flo Rida’s 2009 hit “Right Round.” His first success as a solo artist came in 2010 with “Nothing On You,” a collaboration with rapper B.o.B. that peaked at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 and earned the duo several Grammy nominations. Mars’ debut album, 2010’s Doo-Wops & Hooligans, landed at No. 3 on the Billboard 200 and contained two worldwide No. 1  hits with “Grenade” and feel-good ballad “Just The Way You Are,” which nabbed him his first Grammy (Best Male Pop Vocal Performance). Sophomore album Unorthodox Jukebox (2012) was an even bigger success, peaking at No. 1  on the Billboard 200 and spawning the ubiquitous hits “Locked Out of Heaven” and “When I Was Your Man.”

  • Perfect show but WHERE ARE THE CHAIRS??

    by ChairDancerSupreme92 on 9/10/25Rating: 5 out of 5

Listen, Bruno absolutely KILLED IT and I danced my heart out, but would it kill venues to provide some chairs for us in the back?? My knees aren't what they used to be! Still giving 5 stars because that man's energy is INSANE and I somehow forgot about my aching feet the moment '24K Magic' started. The way he moonwalked across that stage... pure magic. Worth standing for 3 hours!

  • Squad reunion turned into the GREATEST dance party of our li

    by TequilaxStarboy69 on 9/9/25Rating: 5 out of 5

7 friends + 1 epic night = PURE MAGIC! Bruno had us doing synchronized dancing in the aisles like we were his backup crew 😂 Security tried to calm us down but gave up and started grooving with us during Uptown Funk! Lost my voice from screaming, lost a shoe during Treasure, and definitely lost my mind when he did that insane drum solo. Our group chat is still buzzing 3 days later! Pro tip: bring portable fans because this man makes the venue STEAMY 🥵 Worth every penny of our group savings fund!

  • Perfect show but why so many pineapples???

    by GoldChainComplainer24k on 9/9/25Rating: 5 out of 5

Bruno absolutely killed it! The man is a living legend and that voice is pure gold. But can we talk about the weird obsession with pineapples in the stage design? Like there were at least 47 pineapple props (yes I counted). Still giving 5 stars because the Uptown Funk finale had me dancing so hard I lost my shoe and didn't even care. Just... maybe fewer tropical fruits next time? 🍍

  • He played Money Make Her Smile!! IYKYK

    by BrunoB-SideCollector on 9/9/25Rating: 5 out of 5

As someone who's memorized every unreleased YouTube clip since 2010, I LOST IT when he pulled out Money Make Her Smile from Unorthodox Jukebox - a deep cut he hasn't performed since 2013! The extended bridge on Calling All My Lovelies with that rare third verse? Pure heaven. And that throwback medley including Count On Me and The Other Side? Only real ones caught those Easter eggs. My 8th Bruno show and somehow he keeps surprising us superfans. SETLIST PERFECTION.

  • From 'Uptown Funk what?' to 'UPTOWN FUNK YEAH!' in one night

by BrunoCurlyFryConvert on 9/8/25Rating: 5 out of 5

Y'all, I only knew like 2 songs going in (the radio ones obvs). But HOLY MOLY - this man had me doing the splits at age 35 (okay fine, attempting them)! His energy is actually contagious?? Like I caught the funk flu or something 😅 That moment when he did that insane drum solo while moonwalking?? WHAT EVEN. Now I'm here at 3am watching every Bruno Mars video ever made. Send help. Or actually, send more tickets. My Spotify will never be the same.

  • Perfect show but why were the backup dancers wearing PINEAPP

by FinickyPineappleConnoisseur on 9/8/25Rating: 5 out of 5

Bruno absolutely killed it - his vocals were INSANE and the band was tighter than my grandmother's grip on her purse strings. But can we talk about those backup dancers wearing pineapple-themed outfits during 'Treasure'? Like, what's the symbolism there? Pineapples aren't even mentioned in the song! Still, best concert of my life, just personally offended as someone who takes fruit-themed fashion very seriously. Will definitely see him again, hopefully with more appropriate fruit costumes next time.

  • From checking produce to checking tour dates!

by FromGroceryBouncerToBrunoStan on 9/8/25Rating: 5 out of 5

As a grocery store worker who only knew Uptown Funk from the store playlist, I was dragged to this show by my roommate. Y'ALL. I've spent my entire paycheck on merch and already booked tickets for 2 more shows?! The way this man GLIDED across stage like butter on a hot pan 😭 That 24K Magic dance break had me questioning my entire career path. Currently learning splits in my living room. Sorry to the customers who have to hear me humming When I Was Your Man while stocking bananas 🍌

  • Reluctantly Admitting Mars Transcends Modern Pop Mediocrity

    by VinylPurist_WithAPhone on 9/8/25Rating: 5 out of 5

As someone who typically eschews mainstream pop for obscure Japanese jazz fusion, I must confess Mars's showmanship is undeniable. His James Brown-meets-Prince energy, impeccable horn arrangements, and that sublime Anderson .Paak collaboration left me speechlessly impressed. Yes, the teens' screaming was grating, but watching him effortlessly channel the ghosts of Motown while keeping it contemporary... *chef's kiss*. My vinyl collection may judge me, but this was magnificent.
