BRUNO MARS IN CONCERT

Classic showmanship in the vein of James Brown and Michael Jackson is alive and well, and Bruno Mars is here to prove it. Mars takes the stage with The Hooligans, a tightly choreographed nine-piece soul band that serves as the perfect representation of his commitment to the live experience – a commitment that led to his selection as the halftime performer at Super Bowl XLVIII. A classic song-and-dance man and multi-platinum selling pop star, Mars references everyone from Prince to The Police in both his image and sound, but the result is more than mere imitation; as a songwriter and producer, he has successfully combined the sounds of his pop idols with reggae and hip hop to create a new generation of genre-crossing hits. In anticipation of his Super Bowl performance, fans can get tickets to catch Bruno Mars in concert on 2013’s Moonshine Jungle Tour.

BRUNO MARS BACKGROUND

Mars was born and raised in Honolulu, Hawaii, where he gained his first exposure to music playing rock and Motown covers in his family’s band, The Love Notes. By age five, the Elvis Presley impersonations he performed with the band had gained him a reputation on the island and landed him a cameo in the 1992 film Honeymoon in Vegas. After high school, Mars moved to Los Angeles to pursue music, finding initial success as a member of The Smeezingtons, the writing and production team behind Flo Rida’s 2009 hit “Right Round.” His first success as a solo artist came in 2010 with “Nothing On You,” a collaboration with rapper B.o.B. that peaked at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 and earned the duo several Grammy nominations. Mars’ debut album, 2010’s Doo-Wops & Hooligans, landed at No. 3 on the Billboard 200 and contained two worldwide No. 1  hits with “Grenade” and feel-good ballad “Just The Way You Are,” which nabbed him his first Grammy (Best Male Pop Vocal Performance). Sophomore album Unorthodox Jukebox (2012) was an even bigger success, peaking at No. 1  on the Billboard 200 and spawning the ubiquitous hits “Locked Out of Heaven” and “When I Was Your Man.”

  • Reluctantly Admitting Mars is More Than Just Pop Fluff

    by VinylVirtuoso_Jazz1923 on 9/8/25Rating: 5 out of 5

As someone who generally eschews mainstream pop for avant-garde jazz fusion, I must concede that Mars's showmanship is undeniable. His James Brown-esque footwork, combined with legitimately impressive instrumental prowess (that drum solo!), elevates this beyond mere commercial spectacle. The brass section was particularly tight, though I would've preferred more extended improvisation. Even this jaded critic was forced to dance.

  • NAURRR BESTIE THIS SHOW HAD ME FLOATING FR FR 😭✨

  • Deep Cuts & Rare Gems: Bruno Finally Played 'Money Makes Me

    by 24kMagicSetlistHunter on 9/8/25Rating: 5 out of 5

As a die-hard who's seen every tour since 'Doo-Wops', I SCREAMED when he dropped 'Money Makes Me Happy' - hasn't played that gem since 2011! The extended bridge on 'Calling All My Lovelies' was pure fire, and that unreleased snippet during the funk breakdown? Pure heaven. Also caught him switching up the second verse on 'Treasure' to the demo version. Only real ones noticed! The horn section KILLED that extended solo on 'Perm'. Best setlist curation I've ever seen.

  • A Masterclass in Concert Production & Technical Excellence

    by StageCraftGuru_424 on 9/8/25Rating: 5 out of 5

As a production designer myself, I was FLOORED by the hydraulic stage transitions. The way they synchronized the LED panels with Bruno's choreography during '24K Magic' was pure genius. The floating platform's DMX programming during 'Locked Out of Heaven' created impossible-looking light trails. Even caught the automated spotlight system using AI tracking - next level stuff. The pyro timing was millisecond-perfect. This isn't just a concert, it's a technical achievement.

  • Reluctantly Admitting This Was Pure Musical Excellence

    by VinylPurist_Contrarian on 9/8/25Rating: 5 out of 5

As someone who typically eschews mainstream pop for obscure Bulgarian jazz fusion, I must begrudgingly confess that Mars' performance was technically flawless. His James Brown-inspired footwork, combined with that impeccable pitch control and the brass section's pristine dynamics, left me with zero ammunition for my usual cynicism. The 'Leave the Door Open' arrangement was particularly sophisticated - those diminished seventh chords were *chef's kiss*. Hate to say it, but this was masterclass showmanship.

  • From 'Who's Bruno?' to booking tickets for his next 3 shows

by FormerlyBrunoless on 9/7/25Rating: 5 out of 5

My coworker dragged me to this show (I only knew Uptown Funk tbh) and OH MY WORD where has this man been all my life?! That splits-while-playing-drums moment?! The way he turned Runaway Baby into a whole funk throwdown?! I've since memorized every album, bought 2 silk shirts, and learned the Treasure choreography. My kids think I'm having a midlife crisis but I'm just living my best 24K Magic life now. Sorry not sorry!

  • Finally a Concert Where I Can Dance Better Than My Kids!

    by MomWhoKnowsTheUptown_Funk on 9/7/25Rating: 5 out of 5

Brought my 3 tweens expecting to be the embarrassing mom in the corner, but let me tell you - this 45-year-old showed them how it's done! Bruno had me breaking out my old 90s dance moves to 24K Magic. My kids were mortified when I knew ALL the lyrics to Uptown Funk, but by the end, even they admitted their mom's got groove! Worth every penny of the 3 tickets, even if my hip is still sore from all that dancing. Best cardio workout I've had in years! 💃

  • 2,347 Shows Later - Bruno Mars Still Tops My All-Time List

    by LiveMusicLegend_1974 on 9/7/25Rating: 5 out of 5

Been hitting concerts since Woodstock '79 and let me tell you - this cat's got something special. His band's tighter than The Commodores were in '77, and I've seen Prince, MJ, and James Brown live. That 15-minute drum solo battle with Anderson .Paak had me feeling like I was back at the Paradise Theater watching Earth, Wind & Fire. Even my worn-out concert knees couldn't stop me from dancing. Worth every penny of these inflated 2023 ticket prices!

  • After 30+ Years of Shows, Bruno Sets a New Standard

    by 300concerts_andcounting on 9/7/25Rating: 5 out of 5

I've seen everyone from Prince to MJ to Queen, but Bruno's showmanship is next level. The brass section rivals Earth Wind & Fire's, and his James Brown-meets-Elvis stage presence had me feeling like I was witnessing all the greats rolled into one. That 15-minute drum solo? Pure fire. Been to thousands of concerts since '82, and this ranks in my top 3 all-time. The man doesn't just perform - he channels the spirits of music legends while making it entirely his own.

  • I've Been Living Under a Rock and NOW I GET IT!!

    by ConcertVirgin4Life on 9/7/25Rating: 5 out of 5

Y'ALL. I've literally never been to a concert before (I know, I know) and HOLY MOLY GUACAMOLE my brain is still processing?! When Bruno did that flip thing while playing drums AND singing?! I screamed so loud I lost my voice and scared the lady next to me 😭 My hands are still shaking typing this. Like, do all concerts make your soul leave your body or is this just a Bruno thing?! Currently ordering tickets to 5 more shows. I've been converted. I'm a concert person now. THIS IS MY VILLAIN ORIGIN STORY.

  • Flew 8,427 miles from Australia - Worth Every Kilometer!

by SydneyToSeattleForBruno on 9/7/25Rating: 5 out of 5

Quit my barista job in Sydney, sold my vintage record collection, and hopped on a 19-hour flight just to see Bruno in Seattle. Was living on instant noodles for months to afford this! The moment he moonwalked during '24K Magic' made me forget all about my jet lag. Even made friends with 6 other international fans in line - we're now planning to follow his next tour together! My feet are blistered from dancing and my voice is gone, but I'd cross the Pacific Ocean again in a heartbeat. 🌏✈️

  • Amazing show but why no Hawaiian shirts?!

by PineapplePizzaBrunoFan on 9/7/25Rating: 5 out of 5

Bruno absolutely killed it! His energy was through the roof and that voice is pure gold. But I gotta say, I was a bit disappointed he didn't wear a single Hawaiian shirt despite all the tropical vibes in his music. Still wore my pineapple-print outfit anyway and danced my heart out to 24K Magic. The band was insane, pyrotechnics were perfect, and even made friends with other fans while waiting for my merch. 10/10 would see again (but please, Bruno, embrace the Hawaiian shirts next time!)

  • He played Chunky AND Money Make Her Smile?! IYKYK

    by 24kMagicDeepCutConnoisseur on 9/7/25Rating: 5 out of 5

As someone who's memorized every B-side since the Doo-Wops era, this setlist was INSANE. He actually performed 'Money Make Her Smile' AND 'Chunky' back-to-back! The extended bridge on 'Calling All My Lovelies' with that unreleased verse?! Pure gold. And that 'Treasure' remix with the 'Too Good To Say Goodbye' transition was masterful. True fans know how rare these deep cuts are. My 8th Bruno show and easily the most musically ambitious. The Hooligans were ON POINT.

  • Flew 4,713 miles from Nepal - Worth every mile & rupee!

    by Globetrotter_BrunoFanatic_808 on 9/7/25Rating: 5 out of 5

Trekked from Kathmandu just for this show - my legs were still sore from climbing the Himalayas! But when Bruno hit those moves during '24K Magic', my exhaustion vanished. The fusion of his energy with my post-mountain zen was pure magic. Even taught the people in my row some Nepali dance moves during 'Uptown Funk'! My sherpa guide would've been proud of this journey. Best detour from my world expedition ever!

  • From Carpool Karaoke to Concert Magic!

by DancingDadInNewBalance on 9/7/25Rating: 5 out of 5

After months of my kids playing '24K Magic' on repeat during school runs, I finally caved and bought tickets. Plot twist - this 47-year-old dad ended up knowing EVERY song! Bruno had me breaking out moves I haven't attempted since '92. My teenagers were mortified when I yelled 'That's my jam!' during 'Uptown Funk', but by the end, even they were impressed with my shoulder shuffles. My wife caught it all on video... future blackmail material! Worth every penny just to see my kids' faces when their 'embarrassing' dad knew all the lyrics to 'Locked Out of Heaven'. Pure family gold!

  • 3000+ Shows Later, Bruno Still Ranks Top 5 All-Time

    by ConcertSageRoadwarrior1974 on 9/7/25Rating: 5 out of 5

Been hitting venues since Zeppelin's heyday in '75, and let me tell you - Bruno's showmanship is something else. His James Brown-meets-Prince energy puts 90% of today's performers to shame. That 24K Magic extended jam? Pure electricity. Even my weathered ears caught instrumental nuances I missed on the album. And unlike many modern shows, zero backing tracks - pure musicianship. The Hooligans are tighter than The Time in their prime. Worth every mile of my 300-show-a-year journey.

  • Caught Bruno's towel & almost fainted!

    by frontrow_sweatcatcher on 9/7/25Rating: 5 out of 5

Y'ALL I'm still shaking! Was right up against the stage when Bruno did his signature spin move during 'Treasure' and his sweat literally sprinkled on me?! Then he tossed his towel during '24K Magic' and I CAUGHT IT! Security had to help me up because my legs turned to jelly. Bruno saw me freaking out and winked at me - I have it all on video! My friends don't believe it but I'm never washing this towel PERIODT. Best night of my entire existence, worth camping outside the venue for 26 hours!

  • Flew 6,437 miles from Singapore - Worth Every Nautical Mile!

    by GlobetrottingGroovester_808 on 9/7/25Rating: 5 out of 5

Quit my job as a flight attendant in Singapore just to make this show work with my schedule! Watched Bruno in 4 different countries but THIS was next level. The way he moonwalked during 24K Magic literally made my 16-hour flight worth it. Had to explain to customs why I was carrying a pineapple (iykyk 🍍), but seeing him perform Locked Out of Heaven while holding my sign 'From SG with Love' was EVERYTHING. My feet are still recovering from dancing but my soul is FULFILLED. See you in Tokyo next month, Bruno! ✈️🌏🎵

  • He grabbed my hand and I literally ascended to Mars!

    by frontrow_handshake_survivor on 9/6/25Rating: 5 out of 5

Y'ALL I'm still shaking!!! During '24K Magic' Bruno came to my section and when he reached out, I grabbed his hand and he PULLED ME UP to dance with him for like 10 seconds?! His security was laughing 😭 His hand was so soft and he smelled like vanilla and success. I forgot every dance move I've ever known but he just smiled and twirled me around. My soul officially left my body and I may never recover. Best $200 I've ever spent on front row tickets!!

  • 2000+ Shows Later, Bruno Mars Sets a New Standard

    by ConcertSage_Since83 on 9/6/25Rating: 5 out of 5

After catching everyone from Queen to Prince back in the day, I wasn't easily impressed anymore. But holy smokes - Bruno Mars just schooled this old concert veteran! His James Brown-level footwork, Prince-worthy guitar solos, and that brass section that rivals Earth Wind & Fire? Pure dynamite. First show in decades where I didn't sneak out before the encore. Even better than that legendary Stevie Wonder show I caught in '85. The man's a true showman who understands the art of live performance.
