Mostly Excellent
Berklee Performance Center - Boston
As I'd never heard of Jenny Scheinman, I was open to her as a warm-up for Mr. Cockburn, but found her often laughably insipid lyrics and pretentious film noire appearance dull and contrary to everything I've ever felt and known about the incredible Bruce Cockburn. The good news is, if you can manage to sit through Scheinman's solo act you'll be treated to her either exquisitely ferocious then in her seemingly next breath divine serenity as a supporting player to Cockburn, who arrived just in time to not merely well-save the show but elevate it to the kind of heights the man achieves by mere presence let alone his lyrical and musical virtuosity. Bruce's percussionist/drummer is quite a talent to behold in himself as he seemingly effortlessly added just the right touch to every often subtle emotional change in Cockburn's song list, which touched upon all aspects of Cockburn's brilliant career. Arrive a little late if you want to, but do not miss Bruce Cockburn's performance on this tour. His trio is tight, and wild as a fist or delicate as rose petals. In this world of quite a bit less to be had at every turn, Bruce Cockburn remains a jewel to be savored and no doubt remembered among the very best kinds of things we consider downright lucky to have experienced in our lives.

Great performance
Berklee Performance Center - Boston
Great performance by everyone. Jenny was a great discovery and is someone to watch. Berklee Performance Center is one of the best venues in Boston. Other than some times too loud and instruments drowning out the vocals occasionally the sound was very good as well

Bruce Cockburn is the real Boss!
Berklee Performance Center - Boston
I've seen Bruce Cockburn before, and he always pushes his artistic musical limits. What an appropriate venue at Berkelee to wow the audience w/ fresh versions of some old classics and many intriguing new songs off his new album "Small Source of Comfort". This show was simple on effects w/ cool lighting to heightened the transcendent mood of Cockburn's rhythmic picking. With such talent at writing mesmerizing melodies and unique story-tellin lyrics, Bruce might take more time between songs to bridge the gaps on world politics and culture in an even more dangerous time. Bruce Cockburn is still very relevant and the music scene might want to take notes on how to transcend time through solid song writing and rich soulful melodies.

Bruce Cockburn, a talented musician/songwriter
Berklee Performance Center - Boston
Bruce and his trio were awesome. Both the string player, Jenny and his drummer added to a unique and full sound. He played all his "hits" and a lot of new, fantastic material. It was a great concert and I just love him!!!

Cockburn is always true to self!
Berklee Performance Center - Boston
We are long-time followers of Mr. Cockburn and he always delivers musically and lyrically. We were delighted by the balance of older, more familiar songs along with the offerings from his latest album. Jenny Scheinman is an intriguing addition, her playing precise and contemplative. Gary Craig's drumming rounds out the trio for Cockburn's "band" on this tour. Again, the musicianship astonishes. We are looking forward to seeing them perform again in September.

Bruce Cockburn shines
Berklee Performance Center - Boston
Bruce Cockburn entertained fans young and old with his performance at Berklee Performance Center. He featured songs from his new album "Small source of comfort", but also included plenty of old favorites (Wondering where the lions are, Last night of the world, The Cage) Bruce's dynamic guitar playing was enhanced by strings (Jenny Scheinman), percussion, and the harmonies of Scheinman and Annabelle Chvostek. Bruce demonstrated all night that he is still one of the great rock musicians.

Excellent show. Bruce's guitar and vocals were great. I love his lyrics. Jenny Schienman who plays the violin in the band and also opened the show did a great job as well. To top it off, Bruce and Jenny came out after the show to sign CDs and stuff. It was a memorable evening.

Jenny made the show
Berklee Performance Center - Boston
Perfect acoustics and Jenny Scheinman shredding the violin combined with the powerful voice of Bruce made for an excellent show. New tunes were just as enjoyable as the golden oldies. A great venue and a great show.

Great Show

Bruce was great, and Jenny was spot on. Bad stuff: the piezo pickups he's using in the green guitars sound quacky to me - not my fav. The collings sounds better when he plays that.

Where is the bass
Berklee Performance Center - Boston
Musically awesome. Great complex melodies, sometimes too politcal. While the sound was flawless (and I would go again) there is something hollow in a band with no base That full bottom just was not there and I missed it. Was it the expense of another player or just the style he wants? He certainly is a master at the guitar. Very unique in very little tremelo or bends. Lots of intricate picking and crazy, crazy cords. Was waiting for the electirc guitar all night that finally came in the encore.
