BRIAN WILSON IN CONCERT:

Visionary musical genius Brian Wilson first rose to international acclaim in the early ‘60s as the mastermind behind The Beach Boys’ “California Sound”, and now he’s bringing his crowning achievement back to fans on his Pet Sounds 50th Anniversary Tour. The seminal album won over fans around the world with its pioneering blend of orchestral arrangements, glistening harmonies, and coming-of-age lyrics, and it's widely regarded as one of the finest albums of the 20th century. Now, Wilson has invited top-notch musicians and some old friends to help him recreate each masterfully composed song note-for-note from start to finish—all while ticket buyers sing along to each unforgettable melody. With original Beach Boy Brian Wilson performing each beloved tune from the album with his signature good vibrations, this can’t-miss event is sure to stay with fans for a lifetime.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Born in Inglewood, CA in 1942, Brian Wilson honed his musical chops in high school by deconstructing hits by The Four Freshman on the family piano and teaching the harmony parts to his brothers. After befriending Al Jardine in his college choir class, the two had the idea of forming a band. They teamed up with Brian’s brothers, Carl and Dennis, and his cousin, Mike Love, in 1961 and began performing as The Pendletones. After changing their name to The Beach Boys, the group rose to phenomenal success in the first half of the ‘60s with massive hits like “ Surfin’ Safari”, “I Get Around”, and “Help Me, Rhonda”. As their principal songwriter, Wilson had written or co-written over two dozen hits and gained complete control over the group’s studio production by his 21st birthday. His ground-breaking use of the recording studio as an instrument led to increasingly elaborate and experimental songs. Wilson's talent and creative ambition reached new heights with the release of 1966’s Pet Sounds, an enduring classic that many critics consider one of the best albums of all time. Sadly, Wilson suffered a nervous breakdown trying to top the album’s brilliance and spent much of the next two decades in deteriorating mental and physical health. He recaptured the public imagination in 1988, however, when he released his critically praised self-titled solo debut. As luck would have it, that same year The Beach Boys were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and scored their first number 1 hit in 22 years with “Kokomo”. Since then, Brian has continued to pursue projects at his discretion—both with The Beach Boys and as a solo artist—including his warmly received 2015 album No Pier Pressure.

Great Music in a Beautiful Venue

by DrJim76 on 10/25/21Brown County Music Center - Nashville

We now have seen Brian Wilson in concert twice and this one was better than the first. Brian sang more this time than in the previous one. He seemed more engaged. The musicians in the band are excellent and add greatly to the experience. This was our first time in the Brown County Music Center and it is a great venue for music. We will be back for more. The people who work there are extremely friendly and work at making you feel welcome.

    Brian Wilson Concert

by R. M. on 10/25/21Brown County Music Center - Nashville

Brian Wilson is great! The concert was unbelievable. His band is the best. However, doors opened at 6:30 but nobody was allowed in the auditorium until 7:00. So everybody just stood in the lobby for half an hour. What's that all about?

Brian Wilson, Al Jardine and Blondie Chaplin sounded amazing!! It was a trip down memory lane for my dad that brought tears to his eyes! And OMG Brian Wilson’s band!!! They were incredible, flawless, entertaining!!! We wished we had programs to get to know each one of them. Luckily I found the Facebook page “Brian Wilson’s Band” so we can learn more about them. Great Concert, nice venue

by Jim on 10/24/21Goodyear Theater - Akron

This concert recaptured some of the magic of The Beach Boys, bringing together veteran and new artists. The sound mixing was superb and the artistry was timeless. The Firestone Theater is a great venue for this sort of classic concert. A restored use of an iconic industrial building with excellent acoustics should be used, much more often, for this purpose, especially bands between dates in larger cities such as Cleveland and Chicago.

    Brian Wilson Concert

by Violet on 10/23/21Goodyear Theater - Akron

Wonderful concert - so fortunate to be able to see these legends, Brian Wilson and Al Jardine, together again; as well as Blondie Chaplin. The entire band is absolutely awesome, another genius move by Brian Wilson. Theater is quite nice. The only downfall was being made to wear a mask- this should be a choice to wear one. Don’t enjoy sitting throughout anything with a mask- takes away from the feeling of being free.

    Concert

    by Kappagirl222000 on 10/23/21Goodyear Theater - Akron

While the concerts was good we will never attend an event here again as long as they are going to require masks and vaccine proof. So 1 star to the venue 5 stars to Brian.

    Great despite price

by Trent on 10/23/21Goodyear Theater - Akron

Brian Wilson always looks like he is brain dead, only opening his mouth when he absolutly has to hit a note. Al Jardine is way more animated. Frankly, its the backup band that does all of the work. The real surprise was Blondie Chaplin. What a fantastic lead guitarist. I didnt know that the Beach Boys were a Blues Band! My tickets were $180 apiece 3 months before the event, but 2 days before the show, tickets were online for $55. When we arrived, the staff moved us from our balcony seats to floor seats because sales were poor. I really hate the price gouging from online services. Was it a $180 event, No! Was it a $55 event? Yes!

A 2 hour concert where every song was a hit. Not many bands can do that. Brian Wilson is a musical genius.

    Still fun

    by Bob on 10/23/21

First heard the boys in SoCal before they cut their first track. Last night was maybe my tenth live, paid event with them. A bit sad to watch Brian sit at the piano and sing a few words, but Al and the rest do a wonderful job backing him up!

A wonderful night of music and nostalgia

by Diane on 10/20/21The Santander Performing Arts Center - Reading

I love everything about the Beach Boys and it was absolutely wonderful to hear their songs sung by the genius himself. Brian had assistance from Al Jardine and his son and many other band members. I also loved the fellow from Europe. I laughed, I cried and I felt 15 again. Thank you Brian Wilson for sharing your talents with us.

    GREAT Show

by nadineaj on 10/20/21The Santander Performing Arts Center - Reading

Overall the Brian Wilson show was great! Nearly two straight hours of hand clapping, toe tapping, & singing along with eleven great musicians. The sound, the lighting, and the stage set up were all great, but the seating is beyond terrible. There is absolutely no leg room whatsoever, and heaven forbid if your seat is in the middle of a row & you have to get out. I'd hate to think what would happen if someone would stand up quickly & faint. They would end up 1 or 2 rows down with probable injuries to others. I realize this building is a historical landmark, but the incredibly-tight seating is just not conducive to an totally enjoyable evening.

Trip down memory lane with Brian Wilson, a musical icon, Al Jardine and an all star band playing the hits featuring Brian's beautiful arrangements and harmonies. The Hard Rock's arena is comfortable, accoustically satisfying and reasonably priced.

    Excellent Brian Wilson Concert!

by fsde on 10/19/21Mark G Etess Arena at Hard Rock Hotel & Casino - Atlantic City

We have seen Brian Wilson many times in different venues but this concert at the Hard Rock Casino and Hotel in Atlantic City was one of the best!! We decided to pay a little extra for the VIP Tour Package tickets and it was well worth the money! Being only 6 rows from the stage, and right in the middle, Brian was right there and took the lead singing most of his songs. Al Jardine was at his usual best and his son Matt has the voice of an angel! We were always so-so about Blondie Chaplin but he was excellent in this show! Darian Sahanaja and Paul Van Mertens and all of the other band members were phenomenal, as well! As huge Brian Wilson fans, it was great to see this musical genius at work once again! All in all it was a great, fun night listening to some classic tunes!!!
