Over the course of crafting a 29-album catalog and architecting 40 Billboard #1 singles as a keyboardist, songwriter and producer, Brian Culbertson has charted his own unique course in music. Label him jazz and he makes a funk record. Call him an R&B artist and he drops an acoustic jazz trio collection. And you'd be hard pressed to name another instrumentalist of his ilk who can mount an elaborately designed concert production that will keep him on the road for three consecutive months.
Culbertson burst onto the scene in 1994 with a chart-topping album that he recorded in his college apartment featuring keyboard-led contemporary jazz tracks. Flash forward to present day, Culbertson has been going back and listening more and more to music that inspired him as a young musician such as David Sanborn, The Brecker Bros, Chick Corea, Al Jarreau, Pat Metheny & others in the jazz fusion world.
Whether you're listening to music from "Day Trip" on record or live in concert, you're hearing an eclectic, entertaining and engaging set from an artist at the peak of his power.

Brian Culbertson is a musical genius. Every time I see this man I swear he gets better. You can feel his passion and his soul in his music and the way he connects with his audience is second to none. He and his band are top-tier. If he is in your town, it is imperative that you see him. it is my joy that he was able to perform in my hometown of Des Moines, Iowa. I thoroughly enjoyed my time with him during the meet and greet and just listening to him play all of the songs that we love. Brian is such a caring and compassionate human, and he loves his fans dearly and it shows. He and his band are on one accord, and you can feel the love and respect that they have for one another and their craft. This is a must see show. Anytime Brian Culbertson is on The schedule I want to be in the house if I can. I was so honored to be able to be front row and center to see my favorite jazz pianist. He is an amazing man, an amazing musician, and a blessing to all who hear him. Hoyt Sherman has amazing acoustics which made Brian and his band sound even greater. The detail that was paid to the sound was impeccable. I can’t wait for his next project and his next tour. He is one of the most exciting jazz people around so do yourself a favor and get to know his music and head to a show. Tens across the board!!!! 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
This was a truly entertaining experience. A jazz concert full of surprises and masterful musicians. The talent of each was beyond anything expected. Brian expressed his expertise masterfully. From piano to trombone to leadership to entertainer. We have listened to Brian over 25 years. Love him and all those who have joined with him to pursue their love of music. This trilogy tour was fantastic!
Brian and company are extremely talented. I enjoyed each and every song.
I’ve lost track of the number of times I’ve seen Brian live. He’s extremely talented, writes most of his music and produces shows that amaze and entertain. From the first time you see him you want to come back for more. There is always something new and exciting.
Exquisite sound, lights, movement around the stage. Fun and entertaining. Never stopped smiling and dancing. People were up out of their seats. Entire band so talented. So many different styles of music. Great conversation with the talented artist. Great sharing of personality and education of how the songs developed. Loved the stage set up and how each band member compliment Brian yet has their spotlights. It was a great time that we did not want to end so I'm so thankful for the additional songs at end. Would have like to have won the backstage pass. It was never mentioned, as to who won. That was peculiar. Will continue to go where they are anytime Best 27th Anniversary to be in my hometown at this time. Wish we did not miss the email about arriving early for our poster and meet and greet. Loved my seats but wish others know to be there. Many first timers said they would now follow and come out to see him in the future. Thanks Brian for playing my favorite Color of Love song and playing those piano keys from the opposite side of the piano. I always love that,
What a show! From the talent to the sound and lights. Hopefully they will return as would do it again.
BC and band were as tight as a violin string. Feeding off each other and creating an epic concert event with many great songs. The fact that his music spans Rock, Jazz, Fusion, Classical and his own style he has created out of is Vision in a unique style of music all can enjoy!! 3rd time seeing him live! Great Musician!
It was absolutely wonderful! High energy and lots of fun. So glad I didn't miss this opportunity to see Brian and his band perform. Will look forward to his return to Des Moines!
Brian Culbertson’s concerts are amazing live! So talented in song writing and playing! All of the members of his band are such talented musicians. His music is mesmerizing! I loved the show and smiled the entire time! I hope he comes back to Des Moines, Iowa!
I've been a Brian Culbertson fan for 20+ years. I knew this concert would be good, but didn't realize it would be spectacular! Elite musical skills from the entire band, topped off by amazing showmanship from Brian. Easily a Top 10 concert for me in the past 40 years, probably Top 5. Can't wait for Brian to come back to Des Moines for a 2nd time...and hopefully many more. I'll bring plenty of friends.
With Hoyt Sherman Place as a historic and unique venue, Brian Culbertson spent about 90 minutes working their way through the Trilogy albums and a handful of older favorites. Spending most of their time on the Red album, they also dropped a few pieces from Blue and White. Great musicians with a lot of energy and goofy humor from Brian. A smallish audience (~250) raised a raucous noise in appreciation. I hope Brian knows that he’s appreciated here and comes back through on his next tours.
What an incredible opportunity to see and hear one of the BEST Jazz/Funk/R&B Artists on the planet!! Brian Culbertson put on an amazing, energetic and engaging show last evening at The Rialto Square Theatre in Joliet, IL. Brian and his band of incredibly talented musicians put on a show for the ages! I would highly recommend and plan on seeing this amazing talent again when they pass through the Chicagoland area!!
This concert did not disappoint! I thoroughly enjoyed the band and Brian. Now the venue could use some updating but the show was phenomenal!!
Great show and Brian Culbertson got down and it was good
LOVE the show, the band, energy from BC, I would definitely go to another shown of his!
First time experience and I was truly entertained.
My Oh My !!! That concert was the best. Can't wait to seem him and his band again words can not express the joy , love, love, love. From beginning to end awesome.
Brian Culbertson is a talented, energetic performer! He in the band or outstanding, he does not disappoint. I’ve seen him several times, and every show is out of this world. Brian Culbertson is one of my all-time favorites! I had club seating, which was great however, sections 201 seats one through four were obstructed a bit and we couldn’t see the full stage. Thank goodness it wasn’t a full concert and we were able to move To the next group of four seats for better viewing.
Great show! I will try to see Brian Culbertson every chance I get
