BOY GEORGE IN CONCERT:
In an era where synthesizers and drum machines dominated the pop charts, Boy George defied the mainstream and created a counterculture with his distinct, soulful vocals and androgynous style. As the frontman of new wave band Culture Club, he entertained audiences around the world with rock and reggae-infused tracks, becoming one of pop's most enduring icons with his bold makeup and eccentric stagewear. It’s been eighteen years since his last solo release, and fans will be delighted to know that George will return to the spotlight in 2014 for the This Is What I Do Tour, complete with a nine-piece band, including a brass section, and plenty of glamour.
BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:
Boy George rose to fame as the intriguing lead singer of Culture Club, which found commercial success with the release of their 1982 debut album Kissing To Be Clever. The record featured the international No. 1 hit “Do You Really Want To Hurt Me?," launching the band to global stardom virtually overnight. Culture Club continued their chart run with “Karma Chameleon," the second single off their sophomore album Colour By Numbers, earning them a Grammy Award for Best New Artist in 1984. Boy George started his solo career in the late ‘80s with the release of Sold, which produced several hit singles and compelled George to form his own record label, More Protein, in 1989. Over the course of his decade-spanning career, the mercurial George has reinvented himself numerous times, finding success as a DJ, fashion designer, and Tony Award-winning producer for the musical "Taboo." Hot on the heels of the 2013 release of his ninth studio album, he'll grace fans once again with his legendary showmanship on the 2014 This Is What I Do Tour.

Boy George and his band can still bring it and put on an amazing show! I only wish it could have gone on longer.
Fantastic venue..... fantastic show by Boy George and Culture Club. He had a 12 piece band with him. The sax player was off the hook and the rest of the band and singers were equally as good. Check out the Rose if you'd never been there!
Had a great time and loved the nonstop 1hr and 45min performance. Great energy and Culture Club kept going even when some of their audience had to take a break and sit due to their age. My only criticism had nothing to do with the band but with the audio mix. I definitely think Boy George was getting drowned out by the music at times and should have had his vocals turned up. His voice is too beautiful not to hear clearly. Love Culture Club and am so happy to see George clean and sharing his voice.
It was very good show at 61 he got funny and very interesting.
Boy George’s show was amazing. The Rose is my favorite venue. However, the folding chair seating set up in pit continues to be too packed. People need a little more space. Especially when people want to move a bit to the best of the music. This concert was a rather miserable experience in that sense due to the lady in front of me shoving her chair repeatedly into my belly each time she would jump in air (chair would get pushed back hard off the back of her calves); and the very drunk lady to my left. I was hit by her purse no less than 30 times, covered in her spilled drinks and even sat on as she lost her balance. Please please stop putting the chairs so close together. We pay extra to be close. Help make it worth it for us! Thanks!
Being a child of the 80s, I couldn’t pass on the chance to see Boy George and Culture Club perform. And boy, he didn’t disappoint! He sounded great, of course! But what I didn’t expect was how funny and engaging he is with the crowd (that laugh, lol). He and his band seemed genuinely happy to be there! Was our first time seeing a show at The Rose music center and we were impressed by the friendly staff, affordable concession and great seats. Ticket prices were also very reasonable. The whole show was time well spent!
This was such a great show! It was so much fun, and you could tell Boy George, Culture Club, and the English Beat were all having fun. The Rose Music Center in Huber Heights, Ohio is an incredible venue! One of the best outdoor venues I’ve been to. Everyone is super friendly, there’s not a bad seat in the house, and it’s beautiful.
Overall a great experience. Would definitely consider attending another event at this venue. Worth the hour drive.
Boy George still has a beautiful voice, singing an octave lower. The engineering was lacking, the saxophone solos sounded muted and the female backup singer for In The Church of the Poisoned Mind should have stood out more, again her microphone seemed a tad muted. If those had punched out more, it would have made for a more enjoyable experience. THE DRUMS AND PERCUSSION WERE SPECTACULAR. We had a good time and feel fortunate to have these musicians in our area! Thank you Boy George and Culture Club!
My tickets were perfect. I was so close I could see their skin! The sound was perfect and George’s charisma is still there. I was in awe - especially after I met Mikey’s wife and she got me George, Roy, and Mikey’s autographs!!! If you are a fan, you must go. This was one of the greatest nights of my life!!!!
One of the top ten best concerts I have been to... Boy George was amazing and his back up singers were absolutely AMAZING 😍... Will definitely go see him again..
We went with some friends and we all had a great time!
The concert was great. Boy George gave a great performance with his band. However the sound was muffled up in the 200 section. When I attended a concert a few years ago I was sitting in the 100 section and could hear clearly. I hope this can be addressed
Boy George and Culture Club were our favorite back in the day. We had to see them. Absolutely loved the show, the crowd, the vibe. We never sat down. So many great memories and a great party. Thank you Boy G for interacting with us and giving us an evening we will never forget 💕💕💕
I had a blast at the concert! One of the better concerts I have gone to. He sounded exactly the same as he did on CD! He talked to the audience which I appreciated. The band was fabulous. Worth every penny!
Went and see Seen the band in Huber Heights Ohio, and can I just say one of my top ten all time favorite concerts...and the backup singers OMG, I couldn't stop watching them...I think I watched them more than Boy George.😊♥️
We really enjoyed Boy George and Culture Club. I was expecting a little more flash and pizzazz though. He changed his jacket and hat once. Light show was average. Let's talk about the "back-up" singers, and I use that term loosely. They were FABULOUS. Amazing and jaw dropping. It genuinely seemed like everyone in the band was having a good time. Finished the night with Karma Chameleon and everyone was dancing.
Didn’t know what to expect….was FLOORED by the awesomeness! Definitely in my top 5 concert experiences over 54 years!! Music was excellent! Danced through the entire concert as did EVERYONE!! We will see them again! Boy George was a great, kind, funny, handsome host! How he danced the entire show?? He looked awesome as did everyone! A MUST SEE!
You will enjoy the show, they do a good job. We would go again.
