About

BOY GEORGE IN CONCERT:

In an era where synthesizers and drum machines dominated the pop charts, Boy George defied the mainstream and created a counterculture with his distinct, soulful vocals and androgynous style. As the frontman of new wave band Culture Club, he entertained audiences around the world with rock and reggae-infused tracks, becoming one of pop's most enduring icons with his bold makeup and eccentric stagewear. It’s been eighteen years since his last solo release, and fans will be delighted to know that George will return to the spotlight in 2014 for the This Is What I Do Tour, complete with a nine-piece band, including a brass section, and plenty of glamour.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Boy George rose to fame as the intriguing lead singer of Culture Club, which found commercial success with the release of their 1982 debut album Kissing To Be Clever. The record featured the international No. 1 hit “Do You Really Want To Hurt Me?," launching the band to global stardom virtually overnight. Culture Club continued their chart run with “Karma Chameleon," the second single off their sophomore album Colour By Numbers, earning them a Grammy Award for Best New Artist in 1984. Boy George started his solo career in the late ‘80s with the release of Sold, which produced several hit singles and compelled George to form his own record label, More Protein, in 1989. Over the course of his decade-spanning career, the mercurial George has reinvented himself numerous times, finding success as a DJ, fashion designer, and Tony Award-winning producer for the musical "Taboo." Hot on the heels of the 2013 release of his ninth studio album, he'll grace fans once again with his legendary showmanship on the 2014 This Is What I Do Tour.

    Amazing show

by Krista T on 9/19/22MGM Northfield Park - Center Stage - Northfield

The Boy George concert was absolutely amazing. The venue wasn’t crowded, which may not be good for the band, but made it nice for us bc we had plenty of space to move around. There were lots of bathroom stalls so lines moved quickly. I cannot express how great the show was. The sound, the light, the songs…I’m still on a concert high and not many concerts do that to me.

    Outstanding Show

by Dale T on 9/19/22MGM Northfield Park - Center Stage - Northfield

Boy George and Culture Club had an outstanding show in Northfield, Ohio on September 16th. They played all of their hits and even played “The War Song,” which I don’t think they used to play in concert. (I remember that song from the music video in the 80’s.) Boy George interacted well with the crowd and was very upbeat. They played for 1 hour and 50 minutes. I highly recommend them if you like their music and have a chance to see them.

    Boy George and Culture Club

by Pooge on 9/19/22MGM Northfield Park - Center Stage - Northfield

Boy George and Culture Club were absolutely amazing. If you go, do not plan on sitting much of the night! We had a blast and I love the smaller venue that Center Stage offers.

Very cramped seating, but the show was FABULOUS!

by KR on 9/19/22MGM Northfield Park - Center Stage - Northfield

We were in section 2, center, row G. The seats were well padded for comfort, but completely too small/narrow. There was a tall, athletic built gentleman seated next to me and he couldn’t help but be not just touching, but pushing me over on my seat. This forced me to move which pushed on my friend on the other side. After 3 songs, my friend and I abandoned our sets to sit in the row behind us where there were 5 empty seats in a row. Finally we could all enjoy the show. I can’t imagine we were the only ones who experienced this.

by Carrie on 9/19/22MGM Northfield Park - Center Stage - Northfield

The parking was great, facility was awesome, seating was great, I loved it all! I was upset they wouldn’t let me back in to buy a shirt after I had to go to the bathroom so bad! Security said no! Otherwise awesome! We will be back… if you pay for a performance no reason you can’t come & go at $250 for tickets just saying!!! Thank you! Great show!

    Iconic Experience

by Taz on 9/19/22MGM Northfield Park - Center Stage - Northfield

Boy George and Culture Club put on a great show!!! Would definitely see them again!!! Boy George seemed very personable when interacting with the crowd. This was my first time at the MGM Center Stage and I doubt there was a bad seat in the house. Already looking to see what artists are coming there next.

Boy George and Culture Club put on an amazing performance. They sounded great and kept us entertained for 1.5 hours. The costume changes were wonderful. Boy George’s performance of George Michael’s “I’m Your Man” was a touching tribute to a lost icon.

Boy George in Huber Heights awesome

by Kat C on 9/19/22The Rose Music Center at The Heights - Huber Heights

I thought my chance to see Culture Club had passed, but was thrilled to find they were back and coming close to Cincinnati. They did not disappoint! They played most of their 80s hits and then some. George interacted with the crowd and the band seemed like they were having as much fun as the audience. The Rose Center venue was perfect. I loved this show. Thank you Boy George for coming to Ohio. What a great night.
