  • Something for everyone

by mrst on 2/8/15Amalie Arena - TampaRating: 4 out of 5

Excellent concert. Keith Lockhart put together a most enjoyable program, from Dvorak to Dancing Queen. The only part that didn't work too well was the sing-along to music by the Beatles. Although the words were in the program, there was insufficient lighting to read them. Add to that, Keith had a cold and was unable to lead the singing, so the result was less than desirable.

  • Acoustics at Amalie not great

by Anonymous on 2/8/15Amalie Arena - TampaRating: 4 out of 5

Love the Pops and Lockhart and go in Boston when I visit. Really enjoyed the arrangements but was disappointed in the acoustics of Amalie. Why couldn't Straz Center be used?

Loved the seating and felt a part of the performance!

    by CharlieH31 on 2/8/15Germain Arena - EsteroRating: 4 out of 5

The orchestra was excellent. Great piano player. Keith Lockhart is a wonderful arranger and leader. The selection of music could have been better. No programs were givin out so Lockhart had to explain every musical score. Crowd was only about 50% filled normally sold out. They changed the time from 8:00 to 7:00 and many came in late. For future events I would like to see more of todays music then stuff from the late 1800s and early 1900s.

  • Pops are tops!

    by ClaireG2 on 2/8/15Amalie Arena - TampaRating: 5 out of 5

As an ex-New Englander, I was thrilled when I heard the Pops would be in Tampa. I purchased the tickets as a Christmas present for my husband. He was so happy when he opened them. Having never been to a concert at the Amalie, wasn't sure how it would be but I needn't have worried. The orchestra filled the place with their distinctive sound and it was wonderful. I could have listened to them for hours on end. Fabulous musicians, great music - what a lovely, lovely evening. Even if it was on Tuesday night :(.

I would not attend another symphony at the Amalie Arena. You have a wonderful concert put on by The Boston Pops and then the seating is so far back you hear he music but do not see the players! An outstanding product placed in the wrong stage setting.

  • Boston Pops was AWESOME!!!!

    by wdw01fan on 2/8/15Amalie Arena - TampaRating: 5 out of 5

Once again the Boston Pops did not disappoint. The band was at it's ultimate best, as usual. If you have never experienced the Boston Pops you are missing one the worlds greatest orchestras. Only disappointment of the night was the attendance number. Venue needs to get more advertising out there. I can not believe in a city this size there were so few there.

  • Boston Pops

by XYooper on 2/8/15Amalie Arena - TampaRating: 1 out of 5

I real expected more popular and familiar music, such as Broadway hits, show tunes etc. That is the way it used to be. I feel that the Pops are changing. I really don't care about how they composed different songs by combining them with other sounds. If I wanted that type of music I would attend the Florida Symphony Orchestra concerts. I would tell the Mr. Lockhart to get back to the original popular music, hence the name "Pops". If he is planning on going a different direction, then he should not call it the "Pops". Just a footnote: A few years ago I was in Melbourne, Australia. While there I attended a concert by the Australian Symphony Orchestra. Their program that evening was: The Australian Symphony Plays The Boston Pops. Sadly I enjoyed that concert much more.

  • Boston Pops incredible

by gmcg on 2/8/15Amalie Arena - TampaRating: 5 out of 5

The Boston Pops is a one a kind orchestra. Their talent is amazing and it is displayed in the wide range of music that they play. So glad they come to Florida!

  • great time

    by rodney49 on 2/8/15Germain Arena - EsteroRating: 4 out of 5

The performance was fantastic as was the selection of music. I would go again in a heartbeat. My only suggestion is to get a large screen to show the conductor and others to the people who are at the back of the building.

  • Boston Pops amazing, as usual

    by Pgh4Ever on 2/8/15Amalie Arena - TampaRating: 5 out of 5

Keith Lockhart and the Boston Pops provided high quality music and entertainment. A wide range of music was beautifully orchestrated and presented. Just a spectacular evening!!

  • What can I say, it's the Boston Pops!

by Redheadedgurl on 2/8/15Amalie Arena - TampaRating: 5 out of 5

Was concerned about the acoustics (or lack thereof) in the Arena, but they sounded amazing! Just like a recording! I was mesmerized by the precision of the violins, how they all moved and breathed together. The program was a good mix of well known classical and pop pieces and Maestro Lockhart was very entertaining. Am hoping to go to Tanglewood and see them in their own "home".

  • Wonderful

    by Gigicats05 on 2/8/15Amalie Arena - TampaRating: 5 out of 5

The Boston Pops orchestra is an institution. They sounded just like I remembered them. This event is not for everyone, but if you like good solid entertainment and a wide variety of music, this was the show for you. You could close your eyes and think you were on the banks of the Charles River in Boston on July 4th. What a wonderful show this was......

  • Boston Pops were great!

    by MindyA20 on 2/8/15Amalie Arena - TampaRating: 5 out of 5

The Boston Pops put on a really great show. The music was fantastic and the Conductor was very personable, engaging the audience throughout the show! Absolutely loved it!

  • Pogo

by Anonymous on 2/8/15Amalie Arena - TampaRating: 4 out of 5

Pops were great. Arena is not the place to see them. Too much background noise from confession people especially before intermission. Pops should look for a hall not an arena.

  • Wonderful!

    by K9lady on 2/8/15Amalie Arena - TampaRating: 4 out of 5

First half was enjoyable, but the orchestra really go into gear after intermission with music from Queen, the Beatles and others. Had eveyone singing along! Loved it!

  • The POPS are the best !

by gramarlene on 2/8/15Germain Arena - EsteroRating: 4 out of 5

Our group of two couples enjoyed the music provided by the Boston Pops led by Keith Lockhart as they performed at the Germain Arena and altough we had not been to this arena before, the acoustics were not bad nor where the seats ! We thoroughly enjoyed the variety of music played showcasing American composers...I especially enjoyed the jazz and big band sounds. Keith Lockhart was as endearing as always, even after 20 years as conductor of the Boston Pop...just gets better...and to finish the evening there was the audience participation "sing-a-long" featuring Beatles music and their signature big finish complete with an American Flag drop-down !! GREAT evening.

  • Awesome Night!

by Debikyle on 2/8/15Amalie Arena - TampaRating: 5 out of 5

The Boston Pops were marvelous! The first half was enchanting & beautiful, but the second half was fun, dance in your seat & sing along spectacular! I could almost hear Queen singing the BPs Raposdy in Blue & The Beatles sing along was so much fun! We will definitely attend their next concert at the Amelie!
