  • Boston Pops at Verizon Wireless was wonderful!

    by PopsFan2013 on 12/17/13Verizon Wireless Arena - Manchester - ManchesterRating: 5 out of 5

Saturday night's concert in Manchester was just lovely. The only improvement would be to have more seats filled. :)

The performance was outstanding. I had never been before and it was very enjoyable. The chorale was also great!

  • Boston Pops Christmas Concert

by Anonymous on 12/19/12Verizon Wireless Arena - Manchester - ManchesterRating: 2 out of 5

I was disappointed. The arena was not a good location for that musical program. The first half of the program was a little boring but it picked up with Christmas music in the second half. I wasn't impressed with the 5 singers that accompanied them. With the stage being where it was, it was hard to sit sideways in the seat and look to the side to see the stage. I spent a lot of money and it was not worth it.l I won't do that again. This was my first time at the Verizon Arena. Might be OK for sports but not for the Boston Pops. We were too far away.

Oh, what fun! Don't miss a chance to attend. I will make it a yearly event.

Good...would have liked just instrumental, no singing please

  • Boston Pops Holiday concert falls flat

by PersonX on 12/17/12Verizon Wireless Arena - Manchester - ManchesterRating: 2 out of 5

I really enjoy the Boston Pops. They are all talented musicians. The holiday concert however, lacked energy. At times, I felt like I was at a funeral. There were a couple of songs with some energy which caused the audience to erupt in applause. The other pieces were medleys that were so brief, you could barely tell what tunes were mixed together. They did not even play Trepak from The Nutcracker. The audience would have loved a medley from The Nutcracker, but....DENIED. I noticed there were MANY EMPTY seats. I now know why. I would definitely go see the Boston Pops again, but NEVER for the Holiday concert. If you are looking for a decent Holiday concert, see the Trans-Siberian orchestra instead. That show has ENERGY.

  • Pleasent Evening

by Touser on 12/17/12Verizon Wireless Arena - Manchester - ManchesterRating: 4 out of 5

Easy access and departure. Seats 17-20, section 108, row f are partically blocked by wires. Would not recommend these seats. Music was enjoyable and the singers added to the spirit of the evening. A few of the pieces were special, more should be special to make it an amazing evening. Good but not the best Boston Pops concert.

Five By Design was great, The Pop's were perfect for the Christmas season. Verizon was so easy to get in & out of.

  • Extremely Disappointed

by ChristamasConcertGoer on 12/17/12Verizon Wireless Arena - Manchester - ManchesterRating: 1 out of 5

We went to the concert expecting to hear the orchestra playing christmas related music. However, this is not what the performance consisted of. There were a few orchestral performances, but the bulk of the performance consisted of the recitation of a 50+ year old editorial, a poor narration of "How the Grinch Stole Christmas", and singing from a 5 person vocal group with limited orchestral accompaniment.

    Wife loved it I did not at all. Didn't need the singers and as this is celebrating a "tradition" I would have thought the music as presented by the POPS would have been MUCH more traditional;

  • Saddened by the "crowd"

    by DaisyCorky1 on 12/17/12Verizon Wireless Arena - Manchester - ManchesterRating: 4 out of 5

Having been a Boston Pops fan for years, all the way back to Arthur Fiedler, I was saddened that the arena was so empty. Evidently the economy is taking a toll! The concert was good, but not as great as in the past.. While "Five by Design" was good, they were not great. I thought the Grinch segment was long and boring. I also missed Santa coming up the middle aisle. It wasn't the same coming in from the side of the stage.

  • Pops Holiday

    by BobO45 on 12/17/12Verizon Wireless Arena - Manchester - ManchesterRating: 5 out of 5

Pops are wonderful for every season. Five by Design sounded like they were in a recording studio-just right. Good music, great voices.

  • The Boston Pops was an amazing Seasonal memory

by DeeDeeDiana on 12/17/12Verizon Wireless Arena - Manchester - ManchesterRating: 5 out of 5

The entire performance was amazing - The band played all the winter favorites and even had a sing along with Santa. Fantastic performance!!!

  • Disappointment

by Erdi on 12/17/12Verizon Wireless Arena - Manchester - ManchesterRating: 2 out of 5

We were really excited about going to see and hear the Boston Pops and getting into the Christmas spirit. However, there was very little Boston Pops and way too much "Five by Design". It felt to us as if Lockhart was in a hurry to get back to Massachusetts and really didn't have his mind into this concert. He even forgot that he was to introduce a guest conducter for one of the pieces of music so we had to hear that piece twice.....! We went home disappointed having wasted a Saturday night and spend a lot of money for no reason.

  • just ok

by MikeLinda on 12/17/12Verizon Wireless Arena - Manchester - ManchesterRating: 2 out of 5

I was overally disappointed for two reasons: I felt is was much too short compared to other performances including a Boston Pops Holiday Concert I saw in Boston a few years ago. It felt like this was a practice session for Boston performances.
